oh, come on - the kingfisher isn t such bad model.... - not too inspired, but its not really "bad"
about this deisgn.
a lot of thought went into the design from the side, it appears - while little thought went into the design from the top of it.
the side shows sufficient detail and shape patterns. - the top however is just a block. - none of the rounded parts of the side or narrowing of the hull or widening went into the top down view. - its just oblong sort of.
the design itself looks a little rheinlandish - ( compare the engines with the rheinland bomber for example ) - also ... rheinland ships are the ones with the straight back wings.
all in all - its a nice design. but i usually rather prefer a flat shaded view of a model and not the "polished up " 3dsm view, which adds this fancy shader to the models. (mind, i d be happy if freelancer did that, too - unfortunately, freelancer only uses a simple shading mechanism )

No offense, but nothing about the wings appeals to me. They're generall uninspired - doesn't look like a ton of thought went into them.
The rest of the model is good, but as Jinx said from the top it looks rather... dull.
My advice is to do as Jinx says, take the wings off and replace them with something different. Maybe even make them bulky and blocky.
Do this, and you have a pretty nice Order Light Fighter. You'd have to ask Order HC if they want it, but I think it would be perfect for the role.

Id fly this, but make it look a bit more like a VHF i dont fly anything smaller then VHFs and id be mad at you if this ended up as a LF or HF.... xD but seriously

I really don't know why everyone keeps calling it a Light fighter, this thing is easily as large as that Rheinland Police SHV.

I'd say remove the wings/'fixed guns' and add short, stubby X-wing style wings to it, with no fixed guns on them.
Could probably be a good raven's talon replace.
