[SPOILER] Halo 3: how do you interpret the ending? - Horon - 11-23-2007 Good god the entire world is using 13375p33k! [SPOILER] Halo 3: how do you interpret the ending? - Lollingham - 09-04-2009 Hello guys, I relaise this is a dead thread and all, but hey Google gives power to the trolls lol. So without further adue here is my two cents; Halo 3 extended ending, shows there will be a new master chief game beyond a doubt, wether MS will save it for the launch of the 360's successor or launch on the 360 is another matter. But I belive the story will follow something similar to this; The planet shown drifting towards, is a forerunner world, the reason it looks so technologically advanced is because the forerunners have been in self exile there for centuries, advancing their technology in a bid to defeat the flood (mainly the gravemind and any other such entity as the gravemind, there is a possibility there are numerous gravemind type creatures across the galaxy, each responsible for a sector of the galaxy, maybe even with a higher power in control of them all?). The reason the forerunners built the halo rings was to wipe out all sentient life and deprive the flood starving them into hibernation, but why would such an advanced and smart race terminate themself? Answer they did not, the gate opened in halo 3 to the other dimension, proves the forerunners had reality jump gates, they simply relocated their surving populace to the planet master chief is heading towards, which is in another space-time, reality from the Earth universe and is isolated, they then activated the rings to starve the flood, their intention was to hide away and develop the technology and weapons to wipe the flood out while in their self exile, but the master chief was sent their by accident when the jump gate collapsed following the halo ring detonation. It is possible the hive mind or some flood (or combination) are aboard the earth ship with master chief, in hiding, the new game could see the return of the flood on the forerunner world, master chief with advanced forerunner weapons and vehicles, returning to kick ass. But also as shown in the Halo games, the forerunners seem to be of a humanoid origin, possibly the original inhabitants of Earth before the humans repopulated after the halo rings were triggered centuries ago? Therefore we could see an interesting spin. It is possible, the master chief is a spartan only because the humans found some ancient forerunner artifact on Earth, which gave them the ability to create the spartans, this would also explain why the spratans were limited to a certain number and slowly they have been killed in war or died of old age, disease etc (the device ran out of juice and the humans have no way to power it or the device malfuntioned and they cannot fix etc), leaving only the master chief as the last. But the spartans could have been a process for the forerunners to turn their men and women into super soldiers en mass, no need to train them since everything was done via the process, even the knowledge for war could have been implanted into the soldiers via the process. So we could see many more spartans on this new world. Now back to the halo universe, the Arbiter still has a fractured covenant to deal with, we could see a new game with him as the main character. The elites and grunts against the brutes and hunters in a civil war of the covenant, we may see the unsc help the elites from time to time in the game also, but it would mainly be about the elites struggle to re-unite the covenant or remove the brutes etc. It is also possible there may be new self proclaimed leaders emerging from the covenant to replce the fallen Prophets, further fracturing the coventant into waring factions all looking to assume total control of the covenant. Either way once MS has finished milking the back story of Halo 3 and the original Halo they will beyond a doubt progress the Halo universe story with more master chief adventures, I for one will buy another 360 or the successor console just to play any such games lol (then sell it again once finished just like I did after completeing halo 3, like the ps3 more tbh lol). They may even follow the Half life two style of calling future story arks episodes? The trilogy is over, but that does not mean the future of the story line is dead, it just comcluded the story started in halo combat evolved, any new game will bring a new story ark to the table, I look forward to it indeed!
