Destructible ship parts - Dab - 11-14-2007 Eagles die to a single Cannonball missile.. Not even Sabres are that weak to missiles.. Not quite sure where Jinx got the 30% hull damage per missile hit, because we've tested it thoroughly and any capship missile will KILL the Eagle in on hit. Now the big thing. It is nearly the same as Nexus' statements about the Ku BS's bottom fins. If you shoot them 11 times with 4 GB turrets and 1 Ku GB FWD gun, the ENTIRE BS blows up. The fin isn't even orange yet by that time, but the entire ship will fall apart. Also; The Kusari Gunboat; One with normal Mk VIII armor, will be killed by 4 Nuclear mines, or a few capship missiles. You can kill it with 6 BS missiles even. Its like the Eagle of capships. WAY to influenced by missiles. Destructible ship parts - mjolnir - 11-14-2007 @Dab The Sabre does die to a single cannonball also, 5 days ago I hit one poor guy with a Razor to shield and a Cannonball head on at the same time.. big boom. I was as surprised as he was. Destructible ship parts - Dab - 11-14-2007 ' Wrote:@DabThey only die to one when hit from front. Eagle dies to one from hit anywhere.. Destructible ship parts - RingoW - 11-14-2007 I have no examples, just explanations. Osiris has a wireframe. Bretonia Destroyer and Corvette are vanilla ships. The Kusari Gunboat has only three turrets and the forward gun in its original. The two turrets in the front are added and i think there is no existing hitbox for. The whole wireframe, hitbox stuff is a mystery especially with destructible parts. They have so many strange influence into each other. It hurts my brain. The suggestion would be to remove all Sur files for destructible parts and the shield Sur file. Just let the basic hitbox. Also it would give more balance to non vanilla ships. I think we can live without destructible parts. It will need a lot of testing of course. AoM Destructible ship parts - Jinx - 11-14-2007 @Dab - 30% damage and blown off parts. tested with a gunboat vs. freelancers ( Cloves kusari gunboat vs. Freelancer Eagles ) - one kusari gunboat missile. but yes, freelancer eagles have slightly more hitpoints. edit: okie, treat what i said with caution. i tested it all on NPCs of course due to a lack of player targets. - but anyway, they loose wings in one hit:) Destructible ship parts - Dab - 11-14-2007 Uhh Jinx, Freelancers are bad for testing. They have 3 or so times more armor than player Eagles with VIII armor (not counting bots/batts). Don't use NPCs for testing player ships.. I can prove to you that an Eagle will die to one missile. Destructible ship parts - Doom - 11-14-2007 Eagle dies one cannonball...one torp..it dies...there is no time to lose wings... Liberty VHFs lose wings like crazy...yesterday i shot one with single missile...and bye bye wings...bye bye weapons... Destructible ship parts - McNeo - 11-14-2007 When you disarm the Titan, it is left with two guns, slots 3 and 4 (not 1 and 2 as stated previously). Eagles and Titans die to one cannonball, the Eagle dies wherever it hits, the cannonball kills the titan if it hits the front somewhere (not the nose, just the front somewhere). With no wings, the Titan is a squashed legionnaire with no thruster. I must say that I feel all Thruster hardpoints should be relocated to the main hull so they aren't lost with this wing, because it gets pretty unfair if you fight a Claw or RT and they blow it off, because you can't do it to them (applies to just about every vanilla fighter...) Freelancer griffins have cruiser armour, so the Eagles probably have more... Kusari BS large rear wings can kill the whole battleship with three dual nova salvos. Osiris can't defend against flaks, i suppose the Liberty Dread is the same but that hasn't been tested. Old heavy mortars with their old spread damage could insta-kill an unarmoured Osiris if I am correct in recalling the older details. Chimaera, Blood Dragon, Dragon all lose their two fins very fast, but they have no guns. I don't think it loses a thruster but I haven't tried that out, and all the other models seem to if the top wing is blown off, so it would be logical to assume so. Avenger loses wings pretty fast, but thats only because they are big. I personally don't think this should be changed, as being big they are bound to fall off fast, even if they have a lot of hitpoints. Guardian is the same design so I would assume it would be the same. Kusari gunboat is very vulnerable because of its concentration of hitboxes. Kusari cruiser, in contrast, is very resistant. Bretonian battleship has no obvious problems Bretonian cruiser is underpowered, and the turrets stick out because their models are so big. Perhaps the hitpoints on these larger turrets could be increased? Bretonian gunboat is the same as the cruiser in general terms. Rheinland capitalships appear to have no obvious problems. Liberty Gunboat and Cruiser exhibit no obvious problems. Hammerhead, haven't flown one in a while, so I dont know, but the Manta is fine I think. Its armour is large enough to be resistant to missiles, but I don't know about what happens when you lose wings, because I either die, or lose no wings and win. So they dont fall off, i guess they're ok, but thats biased seeing as its one of the ships i fly and like. Centurion has smaller wings than the Titan, so its ok for the moment I think. Haven't tried the Decurion though. Destructible ship parts - Eppy - 11-14-2007 The Liberty Dreadnought is only vulnerable in the engines, whereas the Osiris has its subgroups just a bit closer, but enough to make it very vulnerable. Destructible ship parts - McNeo - 11-14-2007 Right, thanks be to Eppy for that piece of info (no sarcasm whatsoever).:) LF mk IIs are mostly OK as they are now, as they have little enough armour to be insta-killed by a mini razor. However, I do believe that due to their reduced armour in general, their wings and peripherals should be strengthened by a lot to prevent them from falling off during any battle. This is because LF Mk IIs with their already reduced firepower just cannot afford to lose any guns (especially their pair of 9's). Thats my take on them anyway. |
