If it's still there or returns then have it scanned at either of these sites... Go to Start > Run > enter appwiz.cpl and take a look through the list for FlashGet.

If it's there, uninstall it and see how things go.

The problem seemed to go away with Flashget uninstalled, I've been using my browser for more than 30 minutes now and the dialogue hasn't come up once.

Thanks, but now I'll need to get myself a new copy of Flashget.

Update - it seems Flashget is causing this, even after I got a fresh installation from their official site. This is not the root of the problem, the file triggering Flashget's error is. I've been using it for a while now and it's a good download manager, I don't want to change it.

This is not a FlashGet error, it is Adobe disallowing an action which it deems to be unsafe. See here.

Does this error occur when you have no browser open? If so, check Task Manager to see if there is actually an instance of iexplorer.exe or other browser, even though you may not see a window open. If it only occurs when the browser is open then it is unlikely to be malware because that would probably just open up the browser on its own accord without you doing anything. Check your add-ons and plug-ins for your browser to see if there is anything that you did not knowingly install.

This only happens when I use my Firefox browser ie, running Firefox. I've taken a look through all my plugins for Firefox, nothing suspicious there.

What puzzles me is why would uninstalling FlashGet help?

The file that MBAM reported is related to FlashGet and the problem seemingly being resolved after uninstalling it is doubtfully a coincidence. There must be a reason that MBAM regards the file as a threat and maybe this is a good example as to why (not that we know why Adobe was blocking what was possibly an advertisement on a webpage). In all honesty, I doubt that I have any further advice other than to see how things go without FlashGet. If after a reasonable length of time the problem does not recur then surely it is safe to say that it was the culprit.

Situation resolved. For some reason the dialogue has stopped appearing.

Thanks everyone who helped.
