Anyway, the best way i can think of to get some faction to red, and not affect all the others is : Shooting their Guard. But as Mjonlir said, if he can't enter GMG guard system, then it's hopeless. Reputation tweaks - Koolmo - 12-21-2007 I don't think you folks actually get it: It won't happen. It would be far too much work editing everyone's reps, and then as soon as you shot someone, it would all got to h*ll again anyways. A solution for this problem is being investigated, but for now, I suspect you're on your own. Reputation tweaks - mjolnir - 12-21-2007 Well we get that it wont happen.... but people saying that it's not a problem at all is a different thing Reputation tweaks - Drake - 12-21-2007 ' Wrote:What is "impossible" in acting as your character should? E.g. shooting enemies on sight, even if because of reputation modifiers they got green to you, not docking on enemy bases, etc. All those are player actions and require no intervention from admins. It's just a fact that reputation modifiers don't reflect faction relations, nor they can fully do so due to technical limitations, but does that makes your roleplay impossible to follow? I don't think so. Behave in your roleplay, the rest will apply. I don't shoot all hostile NPCs on sight even when they're red, much less when they're not hostile. Awhile back I made a suggestion that when equipping the ID of an NPC faction (LSF, Outcast, whatever), it modifies all the factions listed as an 'enemy' on the ID to full red. Doesn't change any factions to neutral or friendly, but it makes those that are supposed to be hostile, hostile. I'm guessing this isn't possible due to some stupid hardcode in Freelancer, but could someone confirm that? Reputation tweaks - Jinx - 12-21-2007 well. while that suggestion works with most NPC factions, what about factions that are not so much based on the original IDs - like unseelies thingy the privateer stuff whatever. when they use the GC ID they d be insta red to factions they are supposed to work for. Use a generic ID? That's what they're there for... Physically. How does that stop you from fulfilling your character story? Because in the end of the day it's always player actions that reflect the roleplay, not those green or red tags. Again, if you see some player who is green to you while by his/her tag/ID it should be blood red (but you have shot NPCs from other factions and it made your enemies green to you in rep), how does that stop you from acting within your character? So I don't see any problem here at all, it always comes down to what you do in game and how you interact with other players. I think it's impossible to make automatic rep change based on the ID you wear. Furthermore I see no need in that. Then why not just set all faction reps to permanently full green, since they really don't matter...? No need to wrench here. And like I said before: you can't set permanent reputation. Like it or not but it'll change around anyway as you shoot NPCs, bribing, doing or aborting missions. Reputation tweaks - mjolnir - 12-21-2007 So problems: - You can't tell if it's an enemy unless you get closer than 10k... that is IF he has same tag and ID. - In large battles when someone suddenly comes and is green in the list of 10people around.. you usually don't have time to check him out too.. that can get you killed if he's an enemy (all this applies mostly to non-faction characters.... but there are almost more of them than faction ones) - re-targeting to get missiles tracking doesn't work (using CTR+T and T; not 100%sure here) - It looks bad/strange on any form of report with SSs -------------------- - Looking from the other side... many pirates "forget" to get hostile to your NPCs when pirating in your police/military area (this is actually VERY important if they happen to be in a GB and up) |
