' Wrote://dakun? you rlly think you are good ppl to give help in that since the *cough*....... ehrm... forget it

Haven't seen any "dakun-stay out" sign in this topic.
If my advise or help is wanted or accepted is up to the one who started this topic, not you.

Also i dun see any wrongdoing by telling my opinion here, at least i have unlike most others experience with creating a faction like that and especially the problems that might come from it. ;)

Yeah, our use of the Reaver name might be somewhat problematic. But if we work out the naming convention it shouldn't be that hard to figure out a good middle ground!

Our naming convention is Color.Reaver

But if you're just going for a simulation of how the Reavers of Firefly operate you're likely in luck. The tech chart, the almighty guide to what people can fly, allows for the pirate ID to use the civilian ships of any house. Meaning you can end up with a wide variety of different transports from Bretonia, Rheinland, Kusari etc which you can use as your "we 'et the crew and now we're gonna 'et you" worldview.

Running around in a hodgepodge fleet of transports jumping people wandering about will, I assure you, be all manner of good fun. The matter of issuing demands can be somewhat tricky, but you -can- make roleplay demands are readily as not. Demanding that a transport you catch surrender 5 of its crew to be eaten alive is definitely one you can make.

One which experience has taught me few rarely know how to accept, resulting in the shooting and the running and the screaming and the OH NoOooOOooOOo.

Sound advice thx, and yea for RP, the problem is that Reavers don't demand anything, they just take what they see, if they're hungry.
So my take for any transport ship seeing our tag would be to just run away or at least prepare for some "inevitable" boarding RP. I say "inevitable" cos it'll be up to the transport to RP his way out of it, be it with a security force on board, dicerolls or whatever.

Also I don't think we should worry about the name as I'll find a new one, in fact I found one, "Croachers" perhaps? Without sounding too much like Corsairs...

Technically... Demanding that they submit to some kind of dice roll game to see if they'll be boarded is... Like as not a valid type of demand. If they go NO NO NO NO NO and keep running then I dare say you're more than welcome to nuke them.

What a cool idea.

I think this is a very interesting idea, creating pirates who aren't interested in money or cargo and fly around in a crazy hodgepodge of ships. As people have indicated before me, the way reavers engaged in Firefly would have to be mightily tempered for Disco to remain within the server rules.

The demand of boarding and taking x crew or "what we want" might work well. Dice to determine boarding results is interesting, and there is even a server command for it. Never used it though.

For a name, pick what you like but at a quick glance you could use Marauders, Ravagers or Raiders. I simply picked these as being akin to Reavers, a single word that has some relevant meaning.

So yeah, use the Reavers as a base for inspiration, but take the idea, rename it and make it your own that fits the Disco lore and rules. Oh and let me know when you start signing people up :P.

Yeah, Corsairs are vicious and violent.

Some Corsairs are like Reavers.

Aye I think Marauders will do actually for now, since it's not used in any of the Disco lore it seems (surprisingly!) and general enough for everyone to relate to. I thought maybe Shriekers also, since most of their dialect involve all sorts of screaming and roaring, for the most part of what one would hear from their comm channels. I'll definately let you know on the recruitment and would have to be done via succesful boarding inRP of course (the boarded ship of your choice becoming the one to use as one).

And Nomads are incredibly violent aliens whose sole desire is to eradicate all humanity.

Only one other question comes to mind.

Have you given any thoughts to diplomacy? That is, where exactly will ships land for resupply? Reavers of course were enemies of -everyone-. Just another modification that may need to be made for Disco, everyone will need to buy ammo at some point...
