Are you supposed to talk to them first. - LONGBOW - 04-05-2011 Kudos for avoiding sanction reports. In my personal opinion, it is very rare that sanction reports are actually needed. I'm all for trying to reason out your differences with the other player in pm, or if nothing else tell them what you feel they did wrong. If they flame you, that's that, do what you feel is necessary, but often times they are willing to give you their side in a somewhat reasonable manner. If you still can't agree, move on. Sanction reports should only be used if the other person's actions are severely inhibiting gameplay, not just your enjoyment. Explain the rule they broke, just once, maybe twice, in friendly neutral objective language. If you treat them with courtesy and respect, you really cannot be faulted. In short, treat them like you would want to be treated. Just don't hound them, insult them, or threaten sanctions or invoke the Admins. But, Its recommended you do. Are you supposed to talk to them first. - ProwlerPC - 04-05-2011 My art of Sanctions is to consider them an act of the last resort only to be used in extreme cases if no other option is successful. I consider stepping away from the keyboard to calm down as one of those options. Many will find that stepping away from the keyboard to relax will lead to the prevention of unnecessary sanction reports. I filed one once, maybe two. Can't remember. Are you supposed to talk to them first. - SnakThree - 04-05-2011 In every try to help new player adapt to rule we can see rule lawyering act. Which surprisingly is not mentioned in rules and yet gets you sanctioned. Even when I tried helping few guys, I got this "Are you rule lawyering me?", which shows they are not new and they know what can get you sanctioned. But yet that question is rule lawyering too. So here we stand at place where both could report each other. To conclude my mumbling and trash I told, try talking with those who break the rules first, then report them if they ignore your help. |
