Does Norton stop FL from working, even on XP?

Vista and Freelancer - Dopamino - 02-28-2008

Kaspersky is good for anyone, except people who can't afford it. But, since you already have Norton, I'm guessing you can afford it. If not, there are always *cough*TORRENTS!*cough*.

Forgot to mention; if you need a firewall too, try Comodo. It works great, and it's free.

Well... Windows already has its own firewall so I'm good and I think I'll take Kaspersky since I can afford it.

I highly recommend Avast. It's probably just as good as K and it's FREE.

I ran FL from a vista laptop fine with avast, even though i couldn't play due to artifacts.

Norton and McAfee like to embed themselves on your system, registry, etc. etc. They do nothing but screw things up. I know had em both, and there are countless complaints, articles, and nasty grams througout cyberspace. There crash protection a few years back actually crashed your system! There are people who will sware by Norton, but I say bunk and I am not alone. I use AVG, and have for years with no problems and its free on top of that. There is a Norton Removal Tool if you do a search that will wipe that sucker clean. Experience has shown that trying to get rid of Norton is almost impossible. Now ask yourself the question. A program that won't let you have that option can't be kosher. GO with a third party. You will be glad you did.
