What takes priority? - Jinx - 03-03-2008 are you guys really THAT annoyed if someone has a slightly unordinary ship / tag? - personally, i go by the ID and treat them just down to what their ID means to mine. - i might make fun of them ingame if i see another mismatch etc. but i wouln t go as far as to attack someone for it - provided his ID is not hostile to me. so... even if i met a sabre with corsair tag - but a BHG ID, i would treat this person like any other BHG ( allright, like a mentally disturbed BHG, but still BHG ) What takes priority? - Dopamino - 03-03-2008 Actually, I could see how that would happen. The bounty hunter decides to use a Sabre instead of a Manta (which is actually not too bad. BW is basically advanced civvie) and kills too many Outcasts while operating in the Border Worlds. What takes priority? - Blodo - 03-03-2008 Correct me if I'm wrong here, but while the ID describes what exactly the player is shouldn't the tag describe the sort of company that accepts him the most and thus the place said player hangs out in the most? Thus a BHG with a corsair tag would make absolutely no sense RP wise. Right? What takes priority? - Dopamino - 03-03-2008 No, of course not. I'm just saying that if see one with it, it's probably because he killed too many Outcasts. Just ignore it and go by their ID. Agreed. Directly contradictory things (like BHG + criminal, or LPI + unlawful) should have a question put to them, and barring one hell of an explanation be executed for being a spy. Provided you are actually flying a fighter. ' Wrote:No, of course not. I'm just saying that if see one with it, it's probably because he killed too many Outcasts. Just ignore it and go by their ID. Shouldn't he have BHG tag if any? What takes priority? - Xing - 03-03-2008 oh noes SCRA are composed of Xenos neo-fascist, but they are communist as well? Directly contradictory things (like BHG + criminal, or LPI + unlawful) should have a question put to them, and barring one hell of an explanation be executed for being a spy. Provided you are actually flying a fighter. He should, but it's quite easy to accidentally get a Corsair tag if you kill too many Outcasts. Just for RP purposes ignore it. Pretend he has a BHG one. You can question him if you aren't sure if you want. What takes priority? - pchwang - 03-03-2008 Quote:That's just sad. Although a certain someone flying Rheinland Cruiser, Daumann tag, and Coalition ID through Liberty was a little worse...I believe that it is sanctionable to wear the Coalition ID without permission from either the admin or the SCRA... Report? What takes priority? - Reverend Del - 03-03-2008 In order to answer the question we must look to the rules, ID takes preference every time, you cannot kill someone based on their tag alone, you must scan for ID, so all you Outcasts killing Corsair tagged vessels without scannning for ID ought to be careful. ID is the first and only point of call for initiating an attack, tag should merely match as closely as possible. But tags are notoriously difficult to ditch for some of the more popular factions, such as BHG, so it's easily possible that a BHG may end up with a Corsair tag before he gets his BHG one. Ships are a little different there may be very good RP for any given ship, if in doubt, or you don't like what's been said over the system, check the RP forum. If your still in doubt file a report and see what comes of it. And if you see Xenos using anything other than civilian ships and non-faction weaponry kick em for me. (Unless it's Prospector in his gunboat, he's allowed to. Besides he'd kick me harder:)) What takes priority? - Heartless - 03-03-2008 ok, thanks for clearing that up... even though there seems to be a nice little discussion, but I think it's agreed that ID is most important. To another point, since not all players go on the forums, maybe there should be a console message or something saying "Scan for ID before engaging" or something. Many knuckle-heads see a "red" person on their scanners and attack them, so that's a little problem there... |
