This problem merely requires an admin to open FLServer and type a new word into the "death messages" box. Slight contrast in effort there. So does fixing the Planetform ID. But I guess nothing happened yet. Improved "blue messages"? - Blackwood - 11-10-2011 ' Wrote:Aruetii, I believe that he meant that the same death message should fit any kind of ship and any situation, not a message that would fit one's views on reincarnation and the main question of life, universe and everything. Yes, I understand what he meant. I was commenting on the discussion as a whole. Satire isn't my strong suit. Nevermind me, I'm just trolling what I see as a ridiculously nit-picky request on something that has little to do with actual gameplay when there are other issues that seem far more worthy of scrutiny. Improved "blue messages"? - Zukeenee - 11-10-2011 Death messages used to be like this a while back. Then there was some FLHook update or something and they got reverted back to the standard "was killed by" messages. I guess no one ever thought to fix it. Anyway, the messages were "X was put out of action by Y" for standard kills, "X has suffered a self-inflicted catastrophic decompression" for planet-diving or sun-diving, and something about a "Self administered loadout error" for suicide by mines or something. I think there were a few other clever ones in there, but I can't recall. We've had the death-messages be more "RP friendly" before. I don't see a reason why we can't have that happen again. But even if the messages aren't reverted to stop saying "was killed by", it's not that big of a deal. Those messages are kind of OoRP already, so they don't absolutely need to conform to our standards of RP and PvP. It would just look nicer. Improved "blue messages"? - Snak5 - 11-10-2011 Now that you reminded that... Indeed, those were nice ones. Can we have them back, admins? And yes, they are ooRP. But considering how many of them is used for roleplay... Improved "blue messages"? - Mao - 11-10-2011 Finally, something from Arthur that's worth reading and voting. I agree that the "kill" term doesn't suit well in Disco and "destroy" is a far better choice. I was thinking of this as well over the last few days. @Aruetii: You're being too negative about things and you're trying to derail the thread. It doesn't matter if it's a big deal or not. It is a issue and discussing it doesn't harm anyone and doesn't delay 4.86 (which will never come because it's just a lie, fyi). Solving this issue would be nice, but not vital. Improved "blue messages"? - Curios - 11-10-2011 Ye Old once were k get them back me votes Improved "blue messages"? - Charcoal - 11-10-2011 I catch sight of something from the corner of my eye. I turn around but nobody is there. I start to doubt whether I saw anything. I feel a cold chill down my spine. A chill which drives its way down deep into my bones. And then it hits me. This feling that I feel deep inside that occurs on the rarest of occasions..... I AGREE WITH ARTHUR! I miss the old death messages. They seemed to make more sense INRP, as nobody's character actually dies. Improved "blue messages"? - Syrus - 11-10-2011 I'd just like to not see "comitted suicide" as a death message anymore. Also "was destroyed" doesn't either imo... Improved "blue messages"? - Jamez - 11-10-2011 Completely agree with this proposal. It has been irking me ever since I came back on the server. Improved "blue messages"? - dodike - 11-10-2011 Wasn't it "put out of action" before? That's fairly generic. |
