'€œWhat ?'€

She suddenly stopped firing on the Eagle as soon as she heard the name of her sister. It was an unexpected change of things and it helped her to realize that it wasn'€™t a good idea to follow that far.

'€œVivien...from where do you know her ?'€

The answer was actually obvious, however, Larissa was too confused to realize it. She didn'€™t like it to be confronted with her sister, there were too much both positive and negative memories of her. Vivien was one of the reasons why she left Rheinland, but Larissa started to miss her after spending some months in Liberty. She watched the Eagle doing its movements and stopped her Guardian, she wanted to hear the response to her question.

Pulling his ship a safe distance away, Gunther stopped in front of the once-firing Guardian. He didn'€™t want to continue flying in his current heading anyway, Pacifica wasn'€™t too far away and he didn'€™t want to see the Unioners either. He figured his recent outburst had all but given away his identity, and wondered what would be the best course of action to take. If she had stopped shooting now, there was probably away to get this handled quietly.

'€œYour sister and I used to fly together; she was one of the pilots under my wing for a time. The time she served in the Rheinwehr. On that now, I'€™m Admiral Gunther Rall, and you'€™re the one that slipped out of Rheinland with a Wraith almost a year ago.'€
He added the last part unnecessarily, Larissa knew full well who she was, but he felt the need to make a point he did too on some level.

'€œYou should probably head back to Liberty, unless you want to get caught here. Rheinland doesn'€™t generally take well to deserters, but you probably knew that. Funny that I would be the one having to tell you that,'€
Gunther finished his sentence with an involuntary chuckle, hoping the pilot would just run off scared.

'€œSo it was you...'€

She didn'€™t know if she should cry or scream, she was no longer able to think like a normal person. Too many emotions flooded her mind, she directly ran into a Military Admiral and was too stupid to realize that at the first place, now that she knew his lastname, she remembered her sister talking about him. The famous Gunther Rall, for her just somebody who caused a lot of problems. The longer she sat there the angrier she got and she was not known as a person who could control herself.

'€œYou...you are the reason why my sister turned into such a monster, a mindless puppet of the Kanzler. You are the reason why I lost my sister.'€

These were all her words before she attacked Gunther again, she wasn'€™t able to focus, her mind was filled with anger and hate. Larissa only wanted to kill him...

Verena and her two wing men Feldwebels Rodric Haas and Lena Vogt had been searching the outskirts of Bering'€™s fields for well over an hour. The signal from Gunther'€™s ship had been getting slightly fainter the farther he went into the field, after a while they had been left to fly blind, wondering if they would ever find him. Ever since his last exit from Rheinland he had been monitored closely. Occasionally he was left to his own ventures; there wasn'€™t much that could be done in terms of authority.

After a while of unsuccessful searching Verena sent Haas towards the Texas gate, and Vogt to the field west of Freeport two, while she went east towards Pacifica. She had almost given up assuming he had slipped into Liberty again, and was about to call the other two back, but she saw gunfire in the distance. She couldn'€™t make out anything on her scanners quite yet, the fields causing too much disturbance. Moving in the direction of the gunfire, the first thing she noticed was the hostile Liberty Navy ship; what it was doing so far away from Texas or any notable path to Hamburg she didn'€™t know.

Silently closing in, Verena had both ships in sight, scanning both closely. The civilian fighter had Rheinland weaponry on it, she also noticed it seemed to be slowly taking damage, not even attempting to fire back at the Navy pilot. She only knew of one pilot who could be so stupid, she trained her guns on the Navy pilot, and called Haas and Vogt to her location before going in to open fire.

Gunther simply sighed; the young woman had completely ignored his hails to cease fire, and had no intent on listening. His ship was continually taking damage after a few minutes of being enclosed in such a small area, not good for maneuvering. He knew he didn'€™t have much time to keep trying to convince her and would have to shoot back eventually or just die. Then he saw it, a Wraith coming towards them, and he knew it was over. He had failed and now this young girl was going to find herself on that list he had found himself thinking about. Those who had been wronged, and never given a fair chance, devoured by Rheinland'€™s past. Along with her membership to this group, Larissa Schmitt was also going to die.

Larissa'€™s Guardian was greeted by a Hornviper salvo and she was forced to change the targets, as Gunther wasn'€™t firing back. So far it was only one Wraith, but it was piloted by an ace pilot of the Military, Vizeadmiral Verena Higham. Larissa didn'€™t know that and accepted the challenge to fight it. The odds were against her from the very beginning and it became worse when she detected a second Wraith closing in from the direction of the Freeport. The never ending fire from now two Wraiths meant only one thing for Larissa: Escape.

She changed the direction and flew in direction of the Texas Jumpgate while she was doing evasive maneuvers. It was her last hope to reach the gate in one piece. That last hope however, was destroyed when Larissa saw the third Wraith directly coming towards her from the gate. That one fired his torpedos and Larissa wasn'€™t able to dodge them. One directly hit the engine reactor. Larissa lost control of her ship, which had started to burn shortly after the impact, the reactor core was about to melt.

There were two decisions she could choose now, the first one was dying in the upcoming explosion of her Guardian or she could eject with her escape pod and risk getting captured, but she would be at least alive. Larissa decided herself for the second option and pressed the button to eject into space in her escape pod. It was close, the Guardian exploded seconds after it. Rall silently watched the whole scenery and he also saw one of the Wraiths tractoring the escape pod.

As the pod was secured in Higham'€™s hold, she ordered Haas and Vogt to follow her back to Hamburg. Although he wasn'€™t addressed in the slightest, Gunther followed the three military class ships through the rest of the asteroid field towards the gate. He didn'€™t have to ask to understand why they never went back to the lanes; they were avoiding anything that would'€™ve potentially been trailing their catch.

The trip into Hamburg itself was uneventful. Verena relieved her two escorts of their duties at the planet, and told Gunther to seek medical attention on Hamburg. He wasn'€™t actually injured, and he was pretty sure she knew that. He decided not to waste his time with verbal debate, and followed Verena as she made her way towards Vierlande, again avoiding the lanes. The trip across the system was completely silent, but even with the lack of protest Gunther knew it wasn'€™t quite over yet.

Once on Vierlande, it took Gunther a significant amount of time to get out of his ship. Despite his good health, the ship was beat up pretty badly. Some of the wiring under the wings had become exposed, and there was a slight spark going continuously near the thruster. He noticed four men from medical huddled around Higham'€™s ship, extracting the girl from the pod most likely. Walking around his ship to get a better look at the scene, as he made it around the ship, his walkway was cut off by Higham, as they walked into one another.

Gunther looked down at the woman in front of him, as she lifted off her helmet. Her dark auburn hair, lifted with them helmet, and then fell back down, covering half her face, the half he could see was obviously angry, she moved closer to him, glaring upwards. To anyone else the scene might'€™ve seemed intimate, the two of them standing an inch apart making eye contact, Gunther could feel her breath on his chin, but it was easy to ignore. Verena made eye contact with Rall; she noticed he didn'€™t have the usual look of innocence that was normally present whenever he did something '€˜wrong.'€™ He was staring at her with disdain, just as intense as her annoyance. Although she was caught off guard, she didn'€™t show it, thrusting her finger into his chest.

'€œWhat the hell do you think you were doing out there? Why you weren'€™t kept locked up here is a mystery,'€ she was growling in a low whisper.

Gunther looked over her head, smiling somewhat, remembering his time in Vierlande recently. It had been little more than a joke, with Harkonnen trying to nail him for deserting. He had spent quite some time here, it was true, but he had spent a single night in a cell. The rest of his stay he had a room and almost uninterrupted freedom in terms of mobility around the station, but he was watched by no less than two guards at all times. With that out of his head, he briefly noticed Larissa being situated on a stretcher, being carted out by medical. From what he could tell she seemed to be unharmed, but he was too far away to be sure.

He looked back down at Verena, the same expression on her face; he almost thought she would hit him for a second. He reached down, pushing back the hair covering her face, and tucking it behind her ear, flashing a pleasant smile.

'€œYou seem stressed, you should take a breather. Whatever you decide to do, have a good day, Vizeadmiral,'€
with a slight nod, he turned away from her and walked from the hangar, completely ignoring her question.

Verena stood there for a moment, her mouth hanging open slightly, as if she wanted to protest, but hadn'€™t found the right words in time. She wasn'€™t sure what confused her more, the sincere smile from nowhere, or his nonchalant well-wishing as if nothing had happened previously. She didn'€™t have time to dwell on it now; she'€™d deal with him later. For now she'€™d go where the Navy pilot was, and wait for her to wake up before beginning the questioning.

Larissa was brought into the medical station, she was still unconscious but luckily she had no other injuries. Higham and two guards headed there as well, especially the Vize Admiral was waiting patiently for her prisoner to wake up. According to the doctor it wouldn'€™t take that much time for that moment to arrive.

Larissa was dreaming, she went through the whole scene that had happened in Bering, she saw it again, she saw the torpedo again how it ripped a hole in the reactor, causing it to collapse. There were situations when she was close to death, this one was the worst experience for her. It should become a nightmare for her and it surely would leave a mark inside of Larissa.

Her dream changed after a while and she found herself in some memories about her life in Rheinland. She saw her older sisters together with her parents, she saw a happy family. That was before her oldest sister, Rosalie, decided to leave Rheinland to search some action, how she prefered to call it and way before Vivien thought of joining the Military. She hoped that time would come back, but her wish was never granted.

The whole dream slowly started to vanish after some time and it became white in front of her eyes and she was back in the reality. She had finally woke up and found herself in the white room of the medical station, the bright light was an unpleasant feeling for eyes and it took a while for them to get used to it. Her head felt like it was about to explode, the pain was incredible, she had the wish to scream but was unable to do so. She then looked around in the room and saw Higham and the two guards in the room. It was the moment when she realized she was being kept as a prisoner and suddenly she felt weak and alone.

Back to the Green Hell - Razr - 11-15-2011

Verena was seated in a small chair just to the side of the bed where Larissa had just awakened. She watched quietly while the young woman gained her bearings, but said nothing. She probably watched their captive in silence for half an hour before she finally said anything. She wanted to let the fear set in; a tactic Verena had learned when she was still an officer. The feeling that punishment was coming, but nothing as you stood before the person set to deliver that punishment, as if they were purposely slowing down time so that you could imagine what might be coming on your own, and that something was most always over exaggerated.

Everyone once in a while Higham would catch Larissa catching a glance at her, every time she looked in the captive'€™s direction, she would quickly advert her eyes. She crossed her legs where she sat, satisfied, believing everything was now as it should be.

'€œWhat is your name, dear?'€ Verena struggled to keep her tone friendly.

'€œLarissa Schmitt,'€ the girl said quietly, Verena barely caught it. The two guards at the door looked at one another, obviously having missed it.

Verena leaned in a bit closer to make sure she wouldn'€™t miss anything else, she watched Larissa closely for a moment, she didn'€™t appear to be afraid, more like she had lost hope.

'€œThe same Larissa Schmitt that hijacked a Military fighter and fled from Rheinland into Liberty?'€ Verena'€™s tone stayed much the same, her eyebrows pinched together slightly.

Larissa merely nodded to confirm the answer to the question. Higham sat quietly for a moment, perplexed. She made no excuse or attempts to hide anything about herself or what she had done. She could only assume this girl had given up any hope of saving herself, and that did not make her good for information that might actually be useful to them.

Back to the Green Hell - ChillerMiller - 11-15-2011

There was no reason for Larissa to lie, she knew that and wasn'€™t even trying, she never was good in lying anyway, everybody always found out and she didn'€™t want to test the Vizeadmiral. She sighed and after it there was that depressing silence again in the room, Larissa knew she was being watched by six eyes and there was no way to escape their views. She wanted to cry and that wasn'€™t an option for her, she didn'€™t want to show more of her weakness. Larissa tried to hold the tears back but wasn'€™t able to do so and some were flowing down her cheeks. The tears were of course noticed by the other persons in the room, even though Larissa cleared them off her face very quickly.

What would happen next ? There were many things that could happen, she was sure all of them would be living hell for her. It would have been better for her to die out there in Bering to save her any possible troubles.

'€œRheinland doesn'€™t generally take well to deserters...'€ she still rememberd Gunther'€™s sentence in her head. She looked at Higham after some time, she could imagine Vivien to be like her in fifteen or twenty years. She had to chuckle at that thought, such a proud person, it was unknown to her how such people could enjoy their life.

'€œSooooo, what else do you want to know ?'€ asked Larissa with a sort of unrespectful tone.

Back to the Green Hell - Razr - 11-15-2011

Verena slowly brought herself to a standing position, looking downward towards Larissa as she closed the small distance between her and the edge of the bed. Leaning over the edge of the bed, she reached out, enclosing her fingers under Larissa'€™s cheeks, directing the young woman'€™s gaze directly at her, forcing eye contact. She had a low tolerance for disrespectful youths in Rheinland, especially traitors.

Verena heard the door slide open and close behind her. She didn'€™t pay it any attention assuming one of the guards had just left for the bathroom. They knew better than to interrupt her, so it wasn'€™t a surprise, but she would get on him for not asking just the same. It was always like this when Rall was around, this sense of a calm and unprofessional. All the soldiers in his general vicinity always seemed to be less disciplined than they would be around her or anyone else. She would make a point to fix this once she was done with her task here, with that she turned her attention back to Larissa.

'€œIt all depends on what you want to do, Larissa. Do you want to continue to sit here comfortably? If so, how much are you willing to tell me? I'€™m not one for wasting my time or yours, I'€™m sure you'€™re just as eager to see what I'€™d like to do to you, as I am to actually do it. By the way, if you enjoy talking, next time I ask a question, watch your tongue and tone. Address me as Vizeadmiral nothing else, understand?'€
She was whispering to Larissa quietly, but her tone portrayed nothing less than complete authority.

Whatever façade she had resorted to using had disappeared with what little patience she had for their prisoner. Larissa was in Rheinland again, and she would have to adjust no matter how much longer she would be there. As far as Verena was concerned there was no reason for her to accommodate a deserter in any way. She looked at Larissa impatiently, expecting immediate compliance that hadn'€™t seemed to have come quite yet.
