There is also some nice potential for different pirate factions bumping into each other while trying to find the traders too! This reminds me of a scenario from a tabletop game called Necromunda I used to play (you basically created a gang, and then had to manage them over the course of battles to win respect, territory and credits for better gear). The scenario was that you stumble across a trader convoy at the same time as your rivals, and have to fight off the convoys defence, the other gang AND grab as much as you could carry and make off with it! It was a nicely chaotic scenario which would be fun to see happen here!

This popped to my mind while driving home from work. Why not incorporate the event Jinx posted to this? Maybe one (or some) of the shipments could be dedicated to this, like "it's absolutely vital that shipment of boron from Pittsburg reaches Leeds". No need to mention quantities. It does not matter if only one trader faction ship shows up and flies the stuff there without escort or not. It doesn't have to be a massive event, just preannounced starting time to spice things up and to give pirates/opposition a chance to do something about it. If the pirates decide to pass then it's their loss. No elaborate arrangements for that little number.
If the parties involved here want I can play the game master here and take the burden of setting the event up from your hands. In a last resort we could also have this event without a player faction client by me being the task master, but it would rob a lot of the RP involved.

I'd actually love to see Daumann/Kruger/Republican do a massive joint operation- see Kruger and Daumann mining stuff, hand it off to Republican for transport, let the Bundschuh destroy everyone (little slip there...)
It would bring some RP to the diamond run, and there are plenty of people for it- RM and RFP for defense, while we have Bundschuh, RHA, LWB, maybe the odd merc for attack. It would be even better if we arranged things on the other side too, allowing all of Kusari to participate. Better still if the companies didn't use their own escorts and had police/military help them- maybe some big fancy conference between the Emperor and Chancellor about the situation with Liberty/Bretonia, and discussion of tariffs on the diamond/niobium trade (great chance for KSP to jumpstart that), etc...
The more I talk about it the more I love it. Let's do it, and <propoganda> let the pain of Rheinland's workers be repaid in blood! </propoganda>

Well, in terms of what HGL can ship, we can do the following in good RP:
Engine Components - We can get these from Houston.
Diamonds - Kruger can sell us these.
Boron -We do have the rights for it in Liberty.
Light Arms -Also have rights for these in Liberty
Plutonium -ALG produces this at Helgoland
Food -Took these rights away from BowEx a few years back, tough luck there. (Bretonia has an abundance already, most fertile of houses)
Water -Anyone can ship this. (Bretonia has an abundance already, most fertile of houses)
Ship hull panels -ALG produces this from Scrap Metal.
Optronics (the ones needed to be bought from Kusari to meet the price limit) -We can get these from Denver, where we ship Beryllium. Otherwise, we can't really get them, as the farmers would probably crucify us if the KNF/KSP didn't...
Things I would also say would be quite paramount also: Superconductors, High Temperature Alloys.
In terms of shipping capacity, given a few hours we can ship all of these items quite efficiently. I addressed this more specifically in our comms system.
In terms of Jinx's proposal, I would say we should definitely set up a time for this. Our escort wing could use some more light, but Boron isn't exactly the thing we need most, or pirates want for that matter. Mayhaps Ship Hull Panels or Engine Components? Or mayhaps something the thieves are looking for (Diamonds for Hessians, Optronics for Lane Hackers, etc.)?

well, since Corsairs and Bretonnia are in bit bigger fuss than usual atm (OPG did block Cambridge few times and we shot down more than few trade ships and things like that) every commodity can be used in RP way, especially Alien Organisms since we have placed a major embargo on them heading to Cambridge space.
Its just my two cents since it would be cool to actually have one RP chain another! =)

ok. The most serious and promising suggestions has been made by the HGL. If I get a response from Bretonian authority I'll go ahead with this thing. Bretonia would be best for me to organize the meeting since I know the situation best there and can RP write about it best.
I propose this event to take place 2.5. - 8.5. and have either on Saturday or on Sunday the scheduled commodity X side-event.
I think we can have materials vital to the war effort as a basis for the shopping list. That is:
Engine Components
Diamonds
Light Arms
Plutonium
Ship hull panels
Optronics (the ones needed to be bought from Kusari to meet the price limit)
Superconductors
High Temperature Alloys
And I suggest a fee of 40mio for the whole deal. 5mio per commodity quota fully met.
All the places Trevelyan has suggested in their RP are pretty good. They visit most of the houses. And definately those Optronics need to be obtained from Kusari through middle men. I'll price the things accordingly. I'll also make the quantities doable in terms of hauling power and also that more than one run (from a lone hauler) is needed to accomplish the commodity quota.
I'm afraid that the fee Bretonian goverment is able to offer is not that big UNLESS the client side can station a transport (or act as an bank) to take the goods and sell the stuff planet side for a good profit to finance the event.
Open on suggestions on prices and quantities.
@sovereign. Lets beta test this concept in smaller scale first and see and learn how to make it better. Then the concept can be dublicated somewhere else.

Hmmm...I'd be glad to participate...as well as plug my unofficial subfaction thats currently rather dead....the OtherworldExports..a BoWEx firm. Fae names, etc...Unseelie, Kitsune, Underbridge...used to be more, but...blah.
Anyway. I want to say, better if it were bowex, as bowex is the main supporter of the BAF, et cetera...and they rather dislike Gateway, who are less patriotic. I'd be willing to buy Light arms, and some other things...just wondering, how exactly will that work?
How much money am I going to lose, or will we all make a profit, what?

and it's easily extendable to explain in more detail the Bowex's predicament. :(
I was thinking Bowex for the exact reason you mentioned. They are the main suppliers of BPA and military, but since there is no active Bowex faction one need to look elsewhere, eh?
That's the dilemma with decent profits. To finance this thing I really need someone to receive the shipments and to sell them in Bretonia. I'd gladly pay the fee out of my own pocket if it'd have that deep pockets. Currently I've got 14mio to my name. The quantities will have to pretty sizable for this to be meaningful (there are some 6 players in HGL) and the sheer volume makes it pretty hard act to balance. To cover the buying costs is the bare minimum fee-wise. I need help.

I do have deep pockets, generally...right now most of my characters are locked, and I'm very pressed...so not much trading has been done in the last week...only have about 200 mill in fluid cash, total. If I were to get a weekend free...I'd end up with a lot...eventually.
Got to pay debts, too....and my trader ends up RPing more than it does profiteering...which is a problem..going to do that now.
