junker concept 3 - Dusty Lens - 04-26-2008 Make it so! junker concept 3 - Xing - 04-26-2008 I think a gunboat forward turret would be nice.. cruiser would would imply it would need way too much energy to fire, hence you could instead equip any number of high energy weapon with no trouble instead of getting a hard to use gun. junker concept 3 - Jinx - 04-26-2008 thats why the idea is only 2 support guns. - or rather 2 lvl7 turrets. i wouldn t like to change the unique setup of the CSV with its few guns. - of course that means you can permafire even the most powerhungry codeweapons or whatever else gun you want to equip - but its only 2 guns, so it won t hurt too much. but yes... a gunboat foreward gun is a lot less powerful than a supernova ( allthough i think its much cooler ). one could also just make the big tube a torpedo slot with the usual 2 support guns, - but that d be a bit ... lame. i wouldn t mind it having a cruiser foreward gun with energy to fire just one shot - and a very slow regeneration rate, - like one shot / minute ( such a fighter must NEVER take on a capital ship on its own - but in a full wing of like 4, it could be very efficient, allthough not as efficient as 4 bombers ) all in all i m just musing with the idea to give a heavier version of the CSV something thats useful even for high level junkers. it should not be military grade useful... but at least usefull. ( and if its not as useful as a bomber, it should at least look nicer when you re shooting it ) its all just ideas - another idea is to give it a powercore of a starflier. - but give it 10 lvl10 hardpoints. - then its a missile SHF that can fire endless volleys of missiles ( provided they are all different types ) but won t be able to fire a lvl 10 gun. junker concept 3 - Dusty Lens - 04-26-2008 *Chuckles* A missile boat would be a fun concept. Watch out for the train CDs! The part of my mind that really enjoys deviating from the standard fare to see what else we can dish out for fun and profit is a huge fan of the whole "two gunship turrets and a big clapstick" theory. It'd be a mighty unique craft and would be brilliant fun to pirate in. Now give it a freighter shield slot and call it a day! Not only do I think that this is a tremendously cool idea, but I'm exceedingly enthusiastic to see what one could do with such an oddly powerful/nerfed craft. Heh, and afor people mention that it'd be terribly unbalanced somehow I'll remind you all of the total helldeth machine that is the BHG gunship. Furthermore, build something similar for the Xe... I am opposed to the idea of making this an entire ship line though, because it should be a unique ship only the Junkers get. Everyone is right, Junkers don't need a bomber, which is probably why Jinx designed this ship. It's powerful in the sense that it has a forward cannon, but not too powerful, because it cannot fire a SN torpedo. BLS Pirate Transports who're getting all up in our faces about hauling cardi? for this VHF is more suitable. i don't see this ship fighting against Wild or BH. anyway it is very nice ship. even I don't see the need, I like it. freighter lvl6 shield, two 10lvl or even lvl9 guns, turret and it will be perfect. junker concept 3 - Tenacity - 04-28-2008 wow... that ship looks amazing. It'd be nice to get a few unique ships to the junkers, our CSV and Collector are fairly bland (no offense intended towards whoever created the collector). Though, i'm not so sure about a gunboat turret. Something like a mini razor would fit better I think, or a custom weapon if such could be put in the game - perhaps a cannon that does extreme hull damage by using electromagnets/superconductors to fire a chunk of scrap metal (think rail-gun). I'd like to see junker ships developed more crudely, to be honest. What you've designed here fits perfect, but for further ships perhaps take ques from the Reapers of the firefly/serenity series - minus the blood on the hull plating. Basically, Ships that are in a state of disrepair - missing engine cowlings, torn hull panels, crudely assembled attachments/augmentations made of scrap metal and salvaged parts welded onto the hulls of the junker ships, that sort of thing. If we could get a line of junker-specific weapons put into the game, make them more crude - not energy weapons, but weapons that shoot physical rounds; like chunks of metal. Machine guns would be a better way of putting it. Though, that would mean the developers would have to create custom projectiles - not sure if that's possible. I'd just like to see more visceral and crude weapons for junkers, since we're forced to make do with whatever we can salvage or hash together on limited resources. As for the people asking "why would a junker need a big gun like that?", it's simple - Rather than combat focused we'd most likely be using that big ugly gun to blast apart larger chunks of scrap metal and asteroids, or slice into derelict ships if they're too big to haul back to base in one peice. Anyways, enough ranting, great job on this ship! |
