RE: A fast paced dream - Lennox - 11-08-2012

As the dark clouds were about to prevent the sun from shining again, it was all different. The young woman knew she did something wrong to solve her sorrow. The filled halls of the hangar on the Freeport 4, that station on which the 'mad man' dropped all those dark thoughts in her head. The difference this time was, that she didn't pity herself anymore. The girl knew she was responsible for a very close friend to be hurt badly. It was a feeling of anger which occurred due to the feelings close to that person. She couldn't bare the thought of letting the evil man escape, after all what he did.

The mind was busier than ever before, although, in a different way. She didn't really fear the consequences that could come with the vengeance she approved to put on the dark figure she was already hating more than anything else. The 'friend' of her in mind, who was still laying on the medical wing of the station, she swore to not ever drag him into her own problems again. No matter how bad she would feel. Were her thoughts as she kept glancing at her gun.

It was night again. But at least the moon was shining onto the surroundings, as if lighting up the way towards her 'nemesis'.

Back in space, the girl began to live with the new things she had experienced. As if just saying to herself that it would be a way towards becoming more of an adult, the young woman tried to keep looking forward but had her problems with that. Unnecessarily having drawn in a close friend of hers, who, in the end, got injured quite badly, she kept on blaming herself for the troubles she caused him. Although, having gotten an invite from that friend to a special place, basically to talk about everything and to finally realize how things would be supposed to go in future.

Not having said no to the invite, the girl remained in the same mental state as she was when everything happened, though. One could hope it would change, once those days would raise. After all, life isn't supposed to be negative for someone all the time.

The new year had to start with bad news. Great. Were her thoughts as her fingers slid over the hull of the Onuris. Her current mindset was nothing but hard to manage, especially for herself. Others kept their distance from the constantly pale looking girl, who was refusing to eat or to look at anyone. The time in between the years were supposed to be happening at her parents' house. But the young woman didn't take that step forward. Desperately trying to find a reason to live and to give the big dream another try again, she eventually got back to flying.

Nothing but the flight through space could ever cheer her up that much. It had always been like that and it wasn't different this time. To forget about the events that were happening without her attention focused and eventually to accept them, she spent as much time as possible at the most favorite place for her. However, as soon as one foot had been taken back onto hard ground, she lost the grip again, thinking it was like a curse that was dooming her until the end of her life.

She set herself new goals. To prevent phases like that it was important to stay in space. And that would be what she'd be doing. Visiting all the places she didn't visit in space yet, completing her board computer with navigation data as much as possible, to spend time in space as much as possible. Not as if that hadn't been an hobby besides the earlier racing anyway...

Driven to the place which's event gave her the sorrow she was experiencing, a decision on how to go on had to be made. The curiosity about the truth in what had been told didn't leave her alone. The doubts in the told story raised with every moment passing on thinking about it. Feeling forced to see the place by herself, so the victims, it didn't take her long to plot a course to Omega 3. The time in between the years was questionable. The people's behavior of those she was in contact with, back then, more than that. Maybe just exaggeration by the naive head of the young woman to believe something would change.

But when there was something she wanted to accomplish with it, then to see everything with her own eyes. Not to rely on words of others or similar. Although, she didn't know where the trail would lead her to. Not as if she would care about possible consequences.

Death was a lie. And as odd as this seemed to be, as confused was she when recovering the truth. When the girl was about to leave the station, it didn't leave her alone. Something was bothering her constantly and the curiosity in what it was, had been higher than any interest in the former business she was doing at the time before. Words echoed through her mind as the ship of hers left the system for Cambridge. She'd need some time to understand all the current circumstances, perhaps. However, there was not certainty.

Maybe it was even the beginning when she gave the words, he told her, finally more heart and thought as she should had done before. Perhaps, perhaps not. Though, the believe she put into this wasn't very confident, yet.

Sometimes in life there are those dark moments when any hope seems to be gone, when one cannot imagine continuation of life under certain circumstances or just due to the way it went. When people would tell you to keep going but deep within you, you know you don't want to. The same was happening just now with the poor girl who called herself Light Runner. Having lost the thread, just as the hope to find it again in the chaos she created by herself, there was probably nothing that could prevent her from making decisions she would execute.

It should all happen at a desolate location, where nobody would find her, nor find out what happened. On a desolate world outside of House space where rarely people would head out to. After all there probably weren't that many people like her, who had their databank filled with navigation data which could lead to her position. It was night on the planet. She looked across the the region, trying to collect her thoughts for a last time. While she already felt the cold metal of the barrel of her gun, directed at her head, the girl closed her eyes. Should she have told others about this? She didn't know. All the young woman was thinking not letting her friends worry about anything. As long as they didn't know, she thought.

A last breath taken and the trigger of the gun was pulled. Everything went black, for it probably wasn't just a nightmare but the end of it.

Chapter 3 - Less a child

It wasn't the first time a such realistic vision appeared when the consciousness of the young woman was gone. Although, it didn't happen too often. As if thinking to have risen from the dead when the vision was over, as odd it felt to breath in the air. It sometimes took her an hour to realize it was only a dream. Something that might have happened, but didn't, in the end. When the hour was over, she didn't know if she should feel relived, happy or the exact opposite. However, she knew it couldn't continue like this. The pathetic life of her, as she described it, had to continue somehow. Even if desperation would outnumber sanity, she'd need to keep going. The girl had to seek for help. Again for something she thought to never had found.

It was the brightest idea she could get as the way-points to the Cortez system had been set. The memories spoke of a yet hot but peaceful world, on which she might find the person helping her. After all, location shouldn't influence that part of the 'therapy' she thought to be undergoing. A brief message sent to a yet close friend about an urgency of a meeting and she left the hangars of Freeport 11.

Leaving the orbit of Curacao to basically think over the next thing she probably should do, Light Runner took the lane to the California system. Thinking this might finally be the time to visit her parents, she remained in space above the planet Los Angeles several hours before acting. After all, she didn't know where her family would live and, more importantly, the girl didn't know what to say when arriving there. Maybe everything would just go terrible. She wouldn't want to put pity on that part of her life. The fear to fail was still after her, but different than the last time of trying, she found herself more confident in this situation. Even though she was afraid to fail, the young woman also told herself to finally stop doing so. There must be more important things to think about than herself. She learned this was just selfish and wouldn't help anyone.

Finally, after the last minutes of thinking passed, Light Runner also found the location of her family's current location. A house a bit away from the bigger cities on the planet. Where people could still see nature instead of buildings everywhere. The girl took a longer breath and sent a docking request to the docking ring. She will do this, this time for sure, the girl said to herself confidently.

She was going home for the first time in this chapter of her life...

Nobody would want to be a loner forever. At least on solid ground, away from space. It was a somewhat overwhelming experience the young woman had made when she saw her relatives again. When reminiscing her existence had been crossed out since the day the girl arrived on Rochester, as hope was lost, it never fell into her thoughts again to show up and prove the exact opposite.

It had given her sleepless nights. Nights which denied her any rest, as the positivity building up in her was already beyond comprehension. It kind of exhausted her but gave the young woman the will to keep going in exchange. To see her family again was probably the best that could happen to her in the last years. Instead of trying to keep moving around alone, there was something telling her she didn't need to do so.

Work. It was actually something she could never had dreamed of ever since. Always preferred to be independent, working when the mood allowed it. But it couldn't stay like this forever, after all. Her love for machines gave her a somewhat promising idea, which she hoped to be executing correctly. But after all, the confidence was there...

Chapter 4 - A new lifestyle

The so called districts would become her new home. Future was uncertain when its way didn't have a logical conclusion. Where would she end up at? Wandering about the several places these districts had to offer, it didn't take the young woman long to feel bored, even unsure about all this. Would she ever get the spot she applied for? After all, the girl never graduated from school, nor did she had anything else to come with but her personal experience. Time felt like a stone that would slowly be pushed off the cliffs.

After several felt hours, it eventually happened. Someone contacted her. It wasn't all the personal way but it looked promising, at least on her PDA. Someone named Madison. He said he, as a captain of a certain frigate, went through the database of the so called Orbitals and found a new, rather interesting entry there, that had been made shortly. It was almost perplexing that one person, the girl never met, would be interested that much in her 'services'. Realizing she was being modest about herself again, as so many times before when confidence was out of her reach, the young woman shrugged off the questions in her head and replied instead. After all, it was the closest chance to grasp at the moment being...

The meeting would be on the frigate itself. She was familiar with that kind of vessel. The Junkers would still use them, as it probably was the backbone of their scrap-working fleet. The girl would find the ship in orbit of New London, not far to go, nearby Thames. It didn't even need one call from herself as the Salvager contacted the ship marked as Light Runner when launching from the space city. A somewhat exciting moment for the young woman. Hopefully everything would go alright once aboard. The introduction of herself was probably the part she was most afraid of, but after all, she made it that far already. Fingers crossed, she initiated the mooring procedure, closing in to a dream she could not think of to become true, to be part of something significant, even if only in favor of a trusted crew and business. Rochester never would be as good, she hoped.
