There is nothing harsh about getting guard rep, especially for factions outside the house navies, since those can be bribed requiring no missions at all

Maybe what you said applies to people who have all the time in the world, Marb, but I have a mod to build and a job to work, amongst other things. The last thing I want to do in Discovery is waste my time doing lonesome OORP grinding so I can actually get the weapons for my ship.

Now, if you're gonna tell 'Sair here not to be lazy, then why not suggest he goes through all the guns/bases in the game and fixes the reps required for stuff. That'd actually pay off in the long run.

It does not depend on the guns but on the station ownership- you could buy lets say gun X on normal station of X faction but you wont be able to buy it on X station of the same faction guard without the rep.
The whole thing is not bad- just used wrong- making all official factions with different IDs using already existing guard IFF would be pure win from every PoV- easy to give perks to factions and to control them.
Since I have almost no time for such nonsense-I cannot remember when was the last time when I made ship by myself- just buy them or pay people to make them for you- if you are in position to make new ship just use the wonderful guide in the help section. Time grinding without interaction is bad- as bad as the 50k drift.

I work for a living too & yet I have no problem doing what it takes to get what I want. Sure, it takes longer but so what?

Like myself, I understand that people have other hobbies to juggle alongside work & disco, but if another hobby takes time away from disco hobbytime, then a person should simply learn to accept that getting what they want will take longer than they would like & get past the whole 'I want what I want when I want it' mentality. Zero sympathy for them.

Higher difficulty for purchase increases rarity & rarity increases the value of having it (& I'm not talking monetary value)

The 'I don't have time' excuse is really just that. An excuse. Yes, I'm stubbonly opinionated about this but it's simply because I understand & practice the concept of delayed gratification in my gameplay & just happen to hate homogeneous changes in the mod...especially ones that specifically cater to & enable laziness.

Besides, everyone here understood from the start when they got here that this game involves alot of grinding. It's just the nature of the Beast.

You spent 2 hours? Just go drop missions and double bribe on Vogtland. It takes ~10-15 minutes.

This is all a moot point now that my ship has been deleted. Whether it was through a bug or admin, dunno. PM'd Cannon about it but still. :|

And I tried dropping missions but it took ages to get it back down to the 200k range, and a double bribe then only took my Guard rep up 1 bar.

That person can grumble about having to expend the energy having to do it all they like, but it's faster than hoping someone will serve them up a glass of water on a silver platter just because they don't wanna go to the kitchen & turn on a faucet themselves.
Analogy doesn't fit. In your case, the first time the prospective water drinker has to get up, they also have to run on a tread mill, or sort through a pile of toothpicks and arrange them in order of pointiness - or maybe some other menial task.

If someone just had to get up and go to where the thing was available to procure it... well, that sounds a lot like flying to a station and picking up the unrestricted equipment yourself. Same sort of thing. So the point of your story is that couriers are bad and people should get things themselves?

Getting guard rep requires OORP grinding and thus hurts RP.

I propose that Official Faction members are given free guard rep automatically upon request. I also propose that guard systems are closed off to non-official faction players. This will encourage more independent players to join one of the OF's.
