I think Angelfire is aiming at the Wild and the nomads here, and well I think this will be a fun rp.
But I must ask you Angel to ditch the neutral ID and the camera ship because you take away the possibilities of a rp with others that way. I know Corsairs and Hesians would have something to say if you went trough omega5 to get to the wilds, and I suppose Order would also say something when 4 light escort ships and a two research ships would enter their space.
I think it's an interesting addition to the entire story and to the discovery as well. You should mix the people tho. Why wouldn't each house send an explorer with you? Houses might be in conflicts but I think their research stations work together when it comes to Nomads and Wild.
As for the aligment with nomads and Wild, I think you should roleplay it out with Nomad and Wild players, so you get everyone involved in it.
Take alot of screenshots, mention few names, add few forum reports and you've got yourself a nice long event that would certainly be a grounds for the future rp of some sorts as well

Neutral ID effectively prevents you from roleplay actually. Myself I do it just for a joke on my camera ship, never any serious and people know that.
Houses may not work together at all. First of all each have their own rivalry institutes. Understand also that each one of them operates under military high command in secrecy, as acquired knowledge could be used in military sector. No way Bretonia and Kusari would happily walk along the road. No way Liberty and Rheinland would, the tensions between the two are rising. So between the institutes I suppose there be rival feelings towards each other. Finally it'll make Order quite nervous. They still remember that infestation began with a mere Rheinland expedition into Omicrons, and I presume they wouldn't trust a bit to any of those, especially Liberty.
There are still many questions regarding in-game implementation. In all the honest I don't want to see three liberty dreads in Iota performing "research" on orbit of Xerna, if you get what I mean.

How about unarmed?
yeah.. I also dont think the neutral route is the right one.
So what would you all suggest as an RP alterantive to pvp?
I will certainly be advancing the story of Angelfire as a Nomad/Hybrid, but I would like another option that can RP with the Keepers/Wild without firing my guns somehow...

Its hard to not fire a gun in a society where we look forward to players actually interacting with words and not just guns.
While you roleplay, I believe that majority of the server would still have an issue with fully rp-ed encounter.

I'll leave it up to you to find out. Needless to say it's possible, and was even archived, but only by one person so far. Just forget about applying strictly human logic - ain't going to work. I have a Spatial exploration and science vessel roaming over Sirus. I'm trying to be neutral but only by my own actions (I kill alot of xenos).
It's RP will progress into a Liner, then possibly when the new Albatross when it gets out in 3.85 I'll be using that.
But the main idea is to have very weak or no weapons (mounted!) on your ship.
1. The Saint Lun and here crew offer you assistance in all scientific matters in the future. The commander will be happy to share all our scinetific data with you.
2. Is some kind of a science ID or exploration ID needed? Beeing part of a house exploration cooperation limits you from alot of places in Sirus.
3. Would we need some kind of scientific message dump for major discveries?

No. There is no such thing and doubtful ever to be. If you're working for a corporation - take their ID as a sign that you are working for them. If it's Liberty Navy - Navy ID. And so forth. Otherwise Scientist ID, had it been, would be misused to have neutrality. But all know that nothing apart from accredited camera ships and angels are truly neutral, and they're out of roleplay scope. Scientists aren't neutral, they're employees of commercial or governmental agencies, institutes, each has own agenda behind and reasons for. They have their own bosses that want something. And there is rivalry. Never forget each house either openly or away from prying eyes participates in arms race. I do have the Amundsen (see my sig) for researches, but time is a luxury for me...
I use a luxury liner (firepower) and LSF ID, because I have LSF IFF and tag
Once school is over, I will begin to RP it again.
And In my ship I have ALL the necessary commodities for a long term trip: food, water, fuel, etc.
