RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - Daron - 12-07-2012 The current post of The Laws of Liberty has a clear visible link to the Public Service Announcements by the Republic of Liberty. ![]() RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - roadrunner - 12-07-2012 engage cloak and laugh at the LN and the other liberty lapdogs, Death over Liberty RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - Switchback - 12-08-2012 (12-06-2012, 06:40 PM)Jihadjoe Wrote: You could always ask. Are you sure it is clearly visible? Because in my opinion for example it is not. And anyway it does not change the fact that changing laws by public announcements is not allowed by laws itself. And also I really can´t understand why player(s) have time to write public announcements but don´t have few minutes to update laws. By the way, this is exact reason why even lot of police or navy players don´t know Liberty laws properly. And imagine that from new player point of view (most of them start playing in LIberty). They should read that whole wall of text, then read even bigger wall of text in announcements. All of that after they read the server rules wall of text... RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - Govedo13 - 12-08-2012 It is interesting to see the admin option on this. Equipping cloak device is canon, it is not restricted devwise or lorewise. Liberty authorities have no right to FR5 you if you use cloak. I personally think that this kind of law is useless anyway-it wont stop the unlawfuls do use cloaks and not to give a damn and it harms only the lawful players and I find the situation funny and ridiculous, same bullshit like house navies "claiming" border systems, if the devs wanted those systems to be part of house space they would simply make so. May be the liberty lawfuls just need more targets to shot because there is no other explanation for this. RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - Switchback - 12-08-2012 The Devs create a world to RP in. The inRP government and by extension the players create the actual RP. As result the government does indeed have the right to write the lore, and Laws when in their House. If there was a problem with that, then the Admins would have stepped in long ago to stop that. RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - TonyRistar - 12-08-2012 So the laws themselves do not mention the cloak to be illegal, yet a PSA does? I find this lacking, and more of a quick duct-tape attempt to add another thing to the lawful arsenal of "YOU CANT HAVE THAT". That being said, how does one even request a cloaking device? The reason I am asking is because due to the legal issues of the cloak itself, this strikes me much the same as "Hello officer do you mind if I carry drugs in your house?" I do agree with the statement above that ultimately this harms the law abiding citizen more than the unlawful. Due to the dangerous nature of well, freelancer itself, its kind of like being in a western movie and being the one sap who doesn't grab a gun because he doesn't have a license whenever the shooting starts. RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - Switchback - 12-09-2012 How to request: Send a message inRP to the Liberty Government (Or any other government that currently bans cloaks) but have something to barter in return, other than credits. Two mercs have already gotten clearance for small cloaks for bombers. The laws themselves are slow to update because BUREAUCRACY! That little thing that makes the USA work, and the apparent democracy of the Lib Government. It is allowed and perfectly valid for the Public Service Announcements to be incorporated into the Laws, since they are linked within them, and the Laws exist solely within the Roleplay environment. Since House Laws are entirely separate from Server Rules, they are not Admin-regulated. Wall of text? Yeah, but this is a roleplay server with history. Welcome to Discovery. Reading text is all part of the package. (12-08-2012, 05:08 PM)Govedo13 Wrote: Liberty authorities have no right to FR5 you if you use cloak. ... Ah, yes we can. You mount / use a Cloak? That's Roleplay. LN / LPI FR5's you for it? Also roleplay. (12-08-2012, 07:10 PM)TonyRistar Wrote: So the laws themselves do not mention the cloak to be illegal, yet a PSA does? Actually, the main problem was that the old forums had a character limit per post. There was simply no way to fit the new content into the main post. Additionally, the benefit of the Public Service Announcement is that it offered other players a chance to see what major changes had been made to the Laws recently, which was somewhat considerate of us to do. Consider that there are little/no notifactions whatsoever, to my knowledge, when other House laws are altered. In terms of complaining about the length/depth into which the Liberty Laws go; the player base has only itself to blame. Most, if not all of the Laws are not arbitrary, but stem from incidents which have indicated the need for regulation. "This is why we can't have nice things." There was a recent proposal to integrate the Embargo into the Laws, which might be possible provided the post character limit has increased. Otherwise, it remains as links. RE: How do you legally equip a Cloaking Device in Liberty? - TonyRistar - 12-10-2012 Ah okay, I wasn't aware of the character limit. And I'll agree, the 'updates' on laws are hard to keep track of. The "This is why we can't have nice things" syndrome can get too bloated. That said, a barter is fine. Something other than credits can certainly be arranged and I'll have to look into it. I would after all like to not have my cloaking liner get buttblasted everytime i'm in New York |
