IF you want plain fun and madness with awesome people: Join Liberty Rogues
IF you want cash and convoy fun along with RP and shootout in the Taus: Join the IMG
IF you want instructions in Fighting, exciting patrolls, hardcore RP, dramaqueens and kings and if you like the colors green and red: Rheinland Military or Red Hessian Army. Also if you like to populate a dying sector of sirius (Rheinland is currently lazy)
If you want all of that, join Daumann. We mine very profitable ores, we ship them in convoys, we lulz in our chat, we fight against hessians (swarm of bombers is the best way of dealing with cruisers and battleships, and what a sight it is!), we help RM when Liberty Navy invades Hamburg, we hunt pirates down, patrol our mining fields and terrain around bases in fighters, and always have great time.

The Junker Congress is a fairly friendly faction. We do a lot of trading, but we still get into plenty of fights. We've got friends on both sides of the law, so our RP can be a fair bit more varied than that of regular unlawfuls/lawfuls.

Id ask less which are good, rather which are not. Find a faction who will help you pay for ships, etc and who will train you. IMG, LR, LN, CR and the TAZ all do pretty good jobs of these. I know when I was very new IMG gave me 30 mil for a firefly, and I made double that my first day.
