doesn't change the fact that you can still dodge them regardless, oh u might get hit by 1 or 2 but if u have shields on that's almost nothing.

You know what? If the new version weren't out, I would go buy some Swarms to kill you with JUST to prove you wrong...

You can't dodge 30 missiles a second and still be able to hit anything.\

Shall we continue this discussion AFTER I fight someone with swarms? Thank you.

for everyone it doesn't matter really. We all get to try something else again.

Theres nothing wrong with the sidewinder, as a missile it's brilliant. Homing, does more damage then the firestalker, good re-fire rate (for a missile anyhow) it can kill NPCs with one hit (though the NPCs have been getting good at dodging lately...).

But (yes there's a but)

Like all missiles it's useless against players because they can pull all kinda stunts to dodge that the NPC's can't. Plus the time you spend lining up for a good shot is better spend dodging and firing energy weapons.

Swarm missile pods ARE a good idea. But the re-fire rate is, IMO, too high. If the re-fire rate was something like double the rate of all the original homing missiles it'll probably work.

We can just make them with twice the refire of normal missles , get them to mount on a gun/missle slot , and rename them to something like energy missle pack or something. Then theyll become a cheap less powerfull alternative of normal missles , wich use energy and dont suffer from ammo hunger. It will be a great missle launcher for ppl who don't want to spend additional $$ for ammo , or don't want to loose ammo after death. Of course we might make each shot eats energy like a code gun or so, to compensate for the lack of ammo. The damage of the missle should be average for missles - lets say 2000 hull 1000 shield, and the tracking capabilities of stalker missle-class. The price might be half a mil, and with the ability to mount it as a missle pod will it be a good perspective for the weapon. Assuming that the refire is no more than 1.0. Thats my vision of the matter. I really like the idea of energy-using missle launcher, but not an energy swarming thingy - its just too...n00by, i don't like it. Besides causes tons 'o lag.

hmm i think Damned is right about that

Well, Red Managed to avoid 50% of the swarms i threw at him.
And he learnt how to dodge missiles thakns to the swarm. After the 10th kill, he was able to dodge swarms quite well. With a 75-85% success.

But still, swarms are too powerful. I like them because those are good to avoid the player firing a nova (it is suicide when facing 20 missiles). And do good damage. If we lower the refire rate it wont be the swarm anymore.
Just make them use more energy so the player cant fire more than, say, 8-10 before running out of power.
