RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - glassofwater - 05-14-2013 Ha, I have a mouse that I can program to say stuff for me. I don't need no stinkin' /setmsg RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Champ - 05-14-2013 (05-14-2013, 10:35 PM)Cris Wrote: Since /setmsg was removed, I found out around 10% of people make up statistics, aside from that, everything seems normal. Dammit, I was beaten to this joke. On the topic, I like the change. People just said 'engaging' before setmsg was nixed, too. And you know what? It's a lot easier to sanction them now. There isn't an /l1 /l2 to hide behind, no going through server logs. Those people will subsequently learn they have to roleplay or suffer the consequences. If someone wants to kill me (there isn't a 'have a fight' option; I will die) they at least have to type a little first now. It's gratifying :3 I agree with the allowance of group messaging as a compromise though. Edit: I forgot to address this. If there was nothing to be done against people who break ID rules because they're always going to, we wouldn't bother having ID rules. We have rules to enforce because they work 8-| RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Visivicous - 05-14-2013 I only miss it for passing greetings. Now when I encounter a fellow trader on the lanes, because I type slowly, I can only get out a 'hello' before they are gone. Other then that, no difference. RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Hone - 05-14-2013 I havnt noticed anything improved. Perhaps there are less system chat spammers? I dunno. RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Govedo13 - 05-14-2013 I am still too lazy to program my keyboard to do this to me. Otherwise I got killed twice by one line instant shooters while trying to RP since the change, the setmsgs were kinda helpful in defining if the other side is going to RP a bit or not. I guess nowadays flying without fraps on is bad idea- we are going backwards progressively- instead of allowing the lolwuts to setmsgs they don't RP at all and instead of kicking the laggers we enjoy being shot by fake lag trolls. It is funny that people think that this server have something with RP in it. RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Tunicle - 05-15-2013 Not really logged LPI much as the mundane messages take too long to type so villain is off, before stop/cargo scan type messages. RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Lythrilux - 05-15-2013 I'm sure we all now of Libertonian factions such as [SSL]: "ATTKCKA ENEMY!" "SHOOT PIRATE!" "I ATTKCA" *Fires cerbs, almosting killing you* "STOP PILOT" (Regardless of your faction/ID) Lets not stop there, lets take a general sweep of the Libertonian navy: *Navy ship jumps into the system and see's a pirate* Pirate: "Oh, hi ther-" *Navy ship has begun silently engaging the hostile, with no notice* In my opinion, removal of /l1 has brought both good things and bad things, BUT, the negatives outweigh the positives. And we should bring it back in my opinion. RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Jack_Henderson - 05-15-2013 I haven't realized a striking difference. Fights have always been easier to coordinate with Teamspeak anyway. I prefer that. And the reduced friendliness is not so much of an issue as it really is not much more than a one-way statement anyway when you pass each other in the lanes. No rp of any significance comes from that. I have received some good, some bad engagement messages. Some more elaborate and interesting, some mistyped and hastily shot my way. No big deal. I would like setmessages in /g to come back because it was good to give coords and name targets, but if not, it is no biggie. RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - William Frederick Cody - 05-15-2013 The loss of greeting sequences is worse. Besides from the fact, that I used it a lot - I -tried- to do it like before, with names in the message, but it is simply not possible. In result, it is a loss of atmosphere, which is very bad for the future of an nearly 10 years old game. How about to give it back, and simply -forbid- to use it for engaging notices? RE: What is better without /setmsg?? - Occam Razor - 05-15-2013 setmsgs certainly had its bad sites, but it also made things easier for pirates, dealers, and others. And I dont mean engagement notices. Also it was good to set grouptargets while fighting. There isn't much interaction in fights anymore, because if you type, it can damage you alot. To sum it up, I would like to have it back too, I agree to Lythrilux. I am just unsure whether admins are able to find out if a line was /l1 or typed.. |
