![]() From the Desk of Mr. Walter Park Mr. Nishimura:
Thank you once again for the report. We are pleased to inform you that the last of your paperwork with Logistics has finally been completed. This means that your corporate savings account has been opened and progress toward promotion will be tracked so that - among other things - you may begin working toward climbing the latter and expanding your routes (though they are already quite extensive). The Logistics personnel have noted that you have expressed an interest in keeping to smaller freighter-class vessels. As such, we have adjusted your pay scale accordingly in anticipation of a significantly-reduced repair budget. It is quite refreshing to perform an inspection on something other than a supertransport or advanced train, saving hours of productivity.
* * * Mr. Vincetti We hope that this transmission finds you well. It is always encouraging to hear from our mining department - not only due to profits, but because the refinement of ore means we can keep the cost of various electronics and alloys for construction low by using an internal service and avoiding contractors.
Unfortunately, the remote location of the Humboldt ore fields and lack of extensive support means that there are very few safety measures to ensure the protection of our employees and I am uncertain of the extent of coverage you may receive under our Tier 38-F corporate insurance program. Furthermore, the out-of-network healthcare facility further complicates the matter. I'll put in a good word to Human Resources to see how much we can do for you, but expect a bill for a rather large co-pay. However, please accept our offer for a lifetime of one (*1) beverage per day (*24 hours), absolutely on us at any facility (*pre-approved) - just make sure to keep a receipt and forward a claim (*24 hours in advance) to ensure it isn't taken out of your paycheck. Additionally, all repairs to your company vessel will be performed to the fullest extent - with optional upgrade options (*with payroll adjustments) - at Baltimore Shipyard. And they said my research background and high expectations would turn me into a penny-pincher as CFO. * * * Ms.Fargo We are glad to hear of your speedy recovery. The debilitating nature of Pitts Flu is one of the biggest contributors to lost productivity due to the incapacitating of nerve effects - further compounded by Cryer Pharmaceuticals' proprietary treatment process with facilities out on Planet Denver. Now that you're back in the cockpit, we have an assignment you may be interested in - we will be requiring some extensive surveys of the jump holes leading from Ontario to Alberta and vice-versa. We are primarily interested in stability and any phenomena we have not accounted for. Should you accept, the relevant black-box equipment modules will be installed in your vessel and you may set out. Also, send my regards to Mr. Tres out there. I'm sure we can arrange a security escort to assist with this sensitive operation. You will, of course, be compensated accordingly. Regards, Walter Park Chief Financial Officer Deep Space Engineering RE: DSE) Communications channel - stardust47 - 08-04-2013 ::INCOMING TRANSMISSION:: Pilot name: Jack Fargo Rank: Technician Ship name: DSE)Tech-413 Ship type: 'Pelican' armored transport Unit: Repairs Subject: RE: Jump hole assignment I accept the assignment, and agree that a security escort would be a good idea. Jack's picture is reduced to the top-right corner as a map of the Alberta system begins to dominate. I performed some preliminary research, and it appears that there is an Ashton-Smith anomaly, colloquially referred to as a 'dark matter storm' (Jack rolls her eyes at saying this) approaching the system. As such, I should probably look to see if any research has been done on the effects of these anomalies on jump holes- and, perhaps more importantly, jump gates, with particular attention paid to Texas and Kepler. I understand Liberty University has an extensive library of research pertaining to the Texas Incident of 500 AS and the potential implications for jump gate travel. With this in mind, I would like to request that the black-box modules be specially hardened. I'm not really certain what this will acheive, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Fargo out. ::TRANSMISSION LOST:: RE: DSE) Communications channel - GrnRaptor - 11-03-2013 :::Incoming Transmission:::

Now, you may have heard that the Independent Miner's Guild put a call for supplies recently. I'm glad to say that I was able to respond on part of Deep Space Engineering, and I made quite a few deliveries. My submitted delivery logs can be found here. Oh! And I got a nice bonus out of it, too! ![]() On a side note, I must say that I approve of our investment in Toronto Station. I see quite a future for this location! Did some recruit trade sheparding with DSE)Rookie.Cookie. 2. Contacted by a potential recruit. 3. Interdicted and escorted some Kraut traders away from Leduc. 4. Accosted but unharmed by loopy pirates in Alberta. Most of this happened simultaneously. Hilarity ensued. 1. Met our latest recruit, flying DSE)Rookie.Cookie. Helped him out a bit after the miners in Cambridge gave him the cold shoulder. Took him and his crew on a Casualty Evac trip out to New Hampshire. I've been asked to convey Commodore Murray's gratitude and thanks to DSE from all the boys & girls in the Whitefield Battle Group. Their quartermaster drew up a contract for Ale supply to make it worth a regular trip out. Manhattan Medical similarly offers to pay transport invoices on arrival, instead of chasing a half dozen government insurance funds covering the various Navy divisions. 2. Contacted by a young fella about joining the company, forwarded him onto Recruitment. Seems like an honest, hard-working kid, despite the tall tales and his relative youth. Goes by the name of Findarato Veneanar. 3. Ran into some Rhineland free traders in Alberta, breaching the Leduc security zone. They were carrying Basic Alloy, and left with a load of Bio-Processors each. I gave 'em the old 'heave to', and they protested that they had clearance from the Navy *laughs* and a supply agreement through some corporation. I've appended their details at the end of the message. Unfortunately my comms-logging was disabled by my idiot nephew screwing around with his datapad. Kids, hey? Escorted both of the jokers out-system and told them we'd be in contact with the Navy and their superiors for clarification. Over to you, Mrs Doe. 4. More seriously, I ran into a privateer, flying a civilian bomber (Waran). I'd just cleared the kraut jokers for jump when he cruised right up to the Skytrain. Introduced himself as Reginald Bolsa, a pilot representing "Hodor". Since he was chatty, I figured, what the hell, I'll play along. It's never a good idea to provoke a bomber pilot, after all. I had no idea who the hell this Hodor was, perhaps they were a new settler group... we get enough of those on the Liberty fringe. This Mr Bolsa asked if I knew about any DSE mining ops in the asteroids near Edmonton. Seeing as I don't go near the rock-kickers (no offence boys, I'm sure you do a great job, it's just not my cup of tea) I played dumb and denied all knowledge. Bolsa claimed to have seen some of ours in that area recently. Said they were stealing from his friends. Unfortunately, it seems these Hodor jokers are a start-up Hacker enclave, amateurs staking a little patch of turf before getting recognition from their higher-ups. They've decided the entire Alberta system is 'theirs' and any activity within is 'theft'. After the usual veiled threats and posturing about corporate collapse and criminal acendency in Liberty, the pilot recommended I "have a chat" to my management about a "tax" if DSE wanted to keep operating in Alberta. The sheer balls on this one, honestly! Naturally, I didn't mention my own rank or responsibilities, I'd've probably lost my ship & crew right then and there. I kept him talking (hell, I'll talk 'em to death if you give me a chance, which he did! *laughs*) and we seemed to reach an amicable point. We were just about to jump the hell out of there when Bolsa decided to end our encounter with a little twist - a trivia competition. That's right people, these jokers have truly been sucking their own engine fumes. Apparently this is their standard MO: you get jacked, halted, and if you can't answer their quiz, you die. You can still pay your way out of it, but their price is steep. My recommendation is we put all our transport pilots on an Old Earth Music Trivia training program, including the new recruits. That way, we can keep the supply lines to Camrose clear of unfortunate delays or insurance overheads. Of course, Security Wing can get involved, but we don't know how many of these loopy bastards are based there yet. Could get ugly. No need to involve the Navy yet either, I reckon. Well, that's all I've got for today ladies & gentlemen. I am sending this report to you, also i find this quite serious. After quite some time spent in Pennsylvania mining Helium, my goal of course was to sell it in Kusari, but the moment i entered New York two very familiar Lane Hackers stopped me. They did not demand cargo or something like that.... they wanted to talk. Knowing that they want to talk i quickly grabbed my voice recorder and turned it on. Sadly, i do not know why, the tape is damaged so you won't be able to hear what they were saying in the begining..... I will send you what my recorder tapped. :::---Sending files---:::

It seems that they are pretty interested in you and your location sir. You may also expect a possible --unknown-- person contacting you because those Hackers are just able of doing lots of ^%** with our network. That would be all from me.
