' Wrote:It was in this mod version in this update if I remember correctly. When I was in this group it was about, maybe, one or two months ago.

When we did convoys we had three transports and two escorts. Usually, sometimes we had two transports. Point being, it wasn't so hard to earn cash at all, and with a little team-work you could fend off all sorts of pirates.

2 hours. 4 times a week. Three transports. Five man team all up. 300 million made.

So, a maximum of 8 hours. 300 million divided by 5 people is 60 million.

60 million for 8 hours work? Right. Terrible.

Well, you have to take into account several things, one, we were mining for our cargo, and we didn't use miners, we used our own bombers and fighters to do it.

Secondly, we had low cargo transports, since we weren't that rich, remember that I said we had closed economy, we had to work our way up.

And in the end we had plenty of fully kitted fighters, bombers and transports. If you add their values and the extra cash we had, it was alot.

Finally, there were more often times we did twice a week rather than three/four times. That was only in the beginning when we were really active.

Not so terrible actually.

I am impressed that you can stay still and shoot rocks for so long, I have no idea of the yield back then, but I daresay it was more than now. (Especially since the new ninja system means yields can be changed at whim.)

What ships specifically?

I searched for the name, couldn't find it, but it was that Rheinland Cargo Transport with 3800 cargo I believe.

And I was flying a Maffic alongside with another escort who also flied the Maffic.

I can sit still and shoot rocks all day if I'm listening to music and flying with some good pals who makes it all the more fun.

Better than sitting in a Juggernaut next to a Freeport all day yelling at random people to respect No-Fire-Zone and stumbling upon the occasional Zoner fellow and exchange a nice dialog that lasts for ten minutes about nonsense. Oh but that's just me isn't it?

(Since you feel like throwing subtle remarks about me, I have no trouble returning the favor.);)

I was actually being serious, I am impressed. I mean, I have tried mining a few times, with my ship set up for maximum yield and even then I lose patience with it. Fair enough, though even with music and friends my boredom builds.

Having said that, let me address the slice, I do not own a Juggernaut. I could yell at specific people, but then Zoner neutrality would be moot, since I am biased. Nonsense? Look around at Sirius and tell me which RP is serious business in the long run. Eh.

Even with 25%- less profit 60 million for that work is ridiculous. I am unsure on mining yield on the Mafic however.

Well if we crack it down to numbers and all that, sure it might sound bad and I can agree. Still, it felt like the money was alot for the little effort we did. I respect traders because without them there would be no reason to play a criminal organization. That's why I try my best to ensure the ones that I stumble upon actually see it as a positive experience to meet my Smokeone. Although that is completely subjective of course. So of course, if it means more people will enjoy trading, I vouch for a better economy system if that's what it's required.

I couldn't agree more.

From my view that's what I see, Xoria. From what I can see on the "Trade Route" button or what not in game, I'm seeing more than 80% of the places I can sell certain cargo are 100 credits or less with only maybe 10 bases that I can sell for over that price.

To me, that looks like the job wasn't finished. I'm probably wrong as I have NO idea how to do commodities and I'm sorry if that offended you. I do respect the work you do, as it is a long and grueling task and you do it for free.

No offense was meant by what I posted.

To give a brief rundown on the D: group.

We had 6 members.

We all began with nothing. We took no money in. No money left.

At the end of about 2 weeks we had 4 fully kitted behemoths. 6 Ragnars and a number of maffics/dacites.

The mining yields were not adjusted in any way prior to, during or following the experiment.

All of our mining took place in Omega 11. A little side money was made from piracy.

So we ended up with the four transports, 6 freighters and some 10 fighters/SHFs, about 16 armor 8s and 600 million in the bank. We were thinking of picking up a barge.

The money was pretty damn good once we got rolling. I wrote a long post on the subject somewhere. The money didn't flow as smooth as trading would have due to the need to start/stop our efforts in order to ensure the movement and delivery of the cargo.

If I felt like making a real group of it and actively recruited we could have massively scaled up the operation and made some silly good money.

One of the distinguishing points to the mining mod is that you can make transport money in a fighter, so long as you have a transport on hand to move your goods. It provides an artificial means by which to enable escorts to create wealth despite lack of cargo space. Which is something we took advantage of in largely ignoring actual mining ships (Except for one, now that I recall).

All of the mining ships, in this version, have the same mining bonus.

How many hours did you play per day?

What about people in my time zone? There are only 60 -70 people onlne when I am online. How do you expect me to get a group of miners?

Discovery Economy Reformation - Exsiled_one - 04-05-2010

With those 60 - 70 people?

I don't really seem to understand why are all these questions pointed at dusty.

noone is forcing anyone to mine actually, and now when dusty actually explained his D: faction people are eager to see can they actually make their own, instead of filling up other factions that mine like BMM, Daumann and Kruger.

I'm pretty sure it's easy to just say "hell I can't do it" and never try it instead of trying to join a mining faction and rock.
