Okay, what if I roleplay that there's a Mr. Y, who is above Mr. X, and therefore I can order you about? Doing stuff like this is dumb. Copeland is in charge. Split from Admin Notice. - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 10-02-2008 i say that the best move would be for there to be a pol land a vote on the topic. majority rules. and as i said before YOUR ALL HITLER! Then I RP that I have to check with Mr. X since I've never heard of Mr. Y. Whats dumb is to say I have to be in a faction to play a certain ID. Split from Admin Notice. - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 10-02-2008 Perhaps if i type in a bigger font ill get through to him..... Make a poll, and live with the result! and end this constant useless bickering Split from Admin Notice. - Akumabito - 10-02-2008 If we depended on polls slavery would still exist. Split from Admin Notice. - Baltar - 10-02-2008 Majority rule eh? So if the majority says slavery is legal ... you'd be okay with that? If the majority said everyone with green eyes should be shot ... that would be okay? Be careful getting on the bandwagon. I completely agree. There's still a process at the end of the ordeal to make sure that he did the right thing, though. If the court doesn't agree with his choice to ignore orders he believed were illegal, then he takes the fall just as though he had disobeyed orders. Quote:This isn't about getting orders to go to point A and engage an enemy however, it's about being told "get rid of that ship or we pvp whore you", so the example you give doesn't apply to the situation. If someone is floundering around helplessly with no idea or only a vague idea of what they are doing, someone should tell him "dude, you don't know how to fly that ship." If he doesn't listen, someone in a position of power says it. If he says "screw you all" then you either take it to the forums and pass it to the admins who get flak for it, or you get your hands dirty and explain that you really think he doesn't RP. If RP does not lead you to shoot, don't shoot. However, someone going "whut? lol" out their comms would probably be shot. Nomad infestation and all that. Can't take chances. If it's minor, take care of it in PMs. If it's intermediate, try PMs and if they fail just swing with the RP... which tends to be lethal in military organizations since disobeying is bad. If it's serious, take it up with the admins when you have the time, until then follow the RP (surprise surprise). Skipping straight to the 'disobedience is punishable by execution' because they bat an eye at you is wrong. (Oh yeah, if the RP swings to 'execute the traitor' don't count on fairness. Executions are not designed to give the condemned a sporting chance, much less a fair one.) Quote:Is the server supposed to be fun for everyone who plays within the rules? Things are a bit more complicated. If we say that anything someone RPs is automatically canon, why not say "I RP as unanimously elected galactic Hegemon (Nomads agreed too), to disobey my orders is to to feel my wrath and (inRP) the wrath of all in Sirius- start flinging those CDs, in RP you can't dock anywhere outside Connecticut". There's a limit. Silly things are out. Silly includes the above, "my starflier just destroyed Pittsburgh- RP like it has been destroyed", or "there is a person that can override Copeland's orders that Copeland has never heard of and it can be reasonably assumed that Copeland will let this happen without first going to the president, who he was pretty sure he was responsible to, and asking WTF IS GOING ON". EDIT: As for the "join a faction in order to play this ID", no, you don't. You join the NPC faction, and that carries with it the RP understanding of your character's responsibilities. Such as listening to your superiors. Copeland is the Director of the LSF. The =LSF= are a subset of the LSF, therefore Copeland leads them too. Not the other way around. Saying that a member of an organization doesn't have to listen to his superiors is silly. Split from Admin Notice. - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 10-02-2008 wow, i stand by my comment i made in your other longwinded and pointless debate/ statement. YOU ARE A PR*CK a poll is an easy way to track actual opinion, and like i have also said. ITS A BLOODY GAME!\ we debating roleplay, not real issues. jesus h. christ some people 8-) Split from Admin Notice. - Akumabito - 10-02-2008 ' Wrote:wow, i stand by my comment i made in your other longwinded and pointless debate/ statement. An unscientific poll is actually meaningless. We are debating real issues, even RP is real. Split from Admin Notice. - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 10-02-2008 it doenst matter if its scientific. its a poll on a video game to see if we all agree with makebelieve option #1, versus makebelieve option #2. not that hard man. |
