The future of mining? - SA_Scavenger - 03-02-2011 Vito, you seem to miss something quite crucial to the problem here. This isn't a situation where mining was changed to become somewhat harder. NO! It has been completely removed from the game. I.E. no one can do it even if they wanted to. It is akin to removing the ability to trade or removing the merc ID. There is no adaption here. The future of mining? - Ain.Graffias - 03-02-2011 There have been many suggestions to multiply the mining areas. It might be a solution but it wont fix the lolwut miners problem. Still i am for mining. It is a big part of FL. Also, notice the reduced amount of players today. The future of mining? - Stuart.croll - 03-02-2011 Looks like the majority want A) The mining back on and B) The facility to be more widespread. Ignoring these facts makes this server look like an Adminocracy. :nono: The future of mining? - Vladimir - 03-02-2011 Quote:All you miners stop thinking only about yourselves and think about the people who don't like to sit in a field all day, mostly freelancers and mercs. Escorts are practically non-existent and I hope the removal of the mining mod will change that. If a miner dies all he loses is time and that is why 80% of the miners say 'I won't pay, just kill me'. If you pay for the goods you are hauling you'll think twice before saying something stupid like that When there was no mining, we didn't hire or use escorts. When it arrived, we started to hire and use them. Why? Because profits are big and losses could be big too. On the other hand, traders with lower profits won't use escorts because it's cheaper to risk it and maybe die. So actually mining helps escorts. And no, man should not adapt, he should bend the reality! The future of mining? - Vito - 03-02-2011 ' Wrote:Vito, you seem to miss something quite crucial to the problem here. Cause player faction exists for long time and faction had someone to represent DHC npc faction interests when trading routes were balanced. I remember milion times meeting indie miners in Kruger field, where they chosed to be rather Daumann indie then Kruger just for some decent routes, at least that's what I was told. Kruger and ALL the Rheinland corporations have access to the same trade routes as Daumann. The future of mining? - hermit - 03-02-2011 I don't understand where this lazy miner thing comes into play ... I mine for 20+ minutes to fill my train, then a 40 or so minute trip back and forth to Narita ... assuming no fun pirate times. If you do it in group you don't make nearly as much as everyone is stating. Traders in my opinion are the lazy ones ... sit there, click, and F3 ... hard work. If you pay for the goods you are hauling you'll think twice before saying something stupid like that You get every point wrong in my opinion. Escorts only have a chance if the profits of haulers/traders are high. When we run IMG ore to NY we always employ escorts and since a hauler makes 50 millions in a run, the escort gets between 2 and 5 millions. This is the minimum of money that an activity must yield in order to be used to make some money. Not all players are well-off and can affort just to escort people for ridiculous sums of money. They might need money (because they are new to the game, want to buy a ship, etc... things YOU already have and which don't bother you because you have 500 millions in your bank). Now, back to topic: A trade run yields a 10 millions profit. How much will the escort get? Will anybody fly escort for less than 1 million? If you want to boost escort and generate roleplay, the profits must be high, the risk must be high so that escort players get enough to guarantee development for their chars/equipment. If not, it will not be done. Killing the mining/hauling also kills escort game. Your assumption is completely wrong in my view.
