Subject: Foreign Military with alien materials assaults the Rheinwehr

Guten Abend,

I encountered a Liberty Navy freighter in Hamburg, the [LN]-LNF-Endeavour. Something odd seemed with the pilot:

They were in breach of:
  • 2.2 - Alien Materials: Cerulite Crystals
  • 2.4 - Piracy and Terrorism: Assault on an officer
  • 2.5 - Subversive conduct failure to comply with Rheinland Cargo inspection
  • 4.4.1 - Foreign military agency: Liberty Navy
The criminal was unresponsive to hails and orders to stop, attempted to flee, and when cornered opened fire. In the end, they got away while yelling their "greeting"

Evidence:

Guten Abend an das Hauptquartier,

Patrol NB-5 has been a routine patrol from the books and we followed the standard pattern. I ren into Fregattenkapitän F. Westerwalt at Bonn, where I gave a preliminary report. After he saw me off, we continued to Essen.

Near Essen we stumbled into a wing of the Reichspolizei, who were engaging two Red Hessians. From the looks of it the Hessians were small fry and were searching through space junk. After identifying the criminals, the Polizei vessels engaged. We provided assistence and promptly disposed of the enemy. The criminals were apprehended and their collected junk was confiscated and identified as military-class salvage.

Two friendly craft were lightly damaged and two Hessian fighters destroyed. The prisoners and confiscated items were handed over to the police at Essen.

Return to battleship Dresden was uneventful.

I am glad to have returned to active flight duty and look forward to work with everyone again.

Subject: More Details on the presumed **REDACTED**-Encounter

Sehr geehrter Herr Großadmiral,

I'm taking the liberty to continue a tradition I shared with your predecessor Großadmiral von Thielau, that is to report to you directly in matters of highest importance to the military. The relevant commanders have already received my reports in accordance with military procedure and the chain of command remains otherwise honored and unquestioned.

Around 2235 yesterday the incident at The Ring occured, with the presumed Wilde-infested "MND patrol" making their first appearance there.

Initial Encounter
I was assigned to provide security to the Oder-class gunship of the reserve RNC Haferbock. The gunship was leaving Oder Shipyards just as maintenance had been completed. Then the strange vessels appeared, initially claiming their IFFs were damaged during a Corsair encounter. They later instead claimed that their "scrambled IFFs" were part of a secret MND operation/patrol in preparation for "Alsace".

The self-proclaimed "MND patrol" identified themselves as:

- Snub: Major Fritz Freiberg, part of the Battlegroup Schwerin.
- Oder-class "Seele": Stabskapitaenleutnant Franz Jaeger, Marinenachristendienst, Einheit Sektor Stulingen. Counter-intelligence.
- Oder-class "Rubezahl": Captain Fritz Hoffman, MND unit Rubezahl.

The Technocracy vessel "Revenant" was also entering orbit of NB and staying there, while engaging in chatter during some of the encounter. It then proceeded to dock.

Witnessing the strange IFFs on the ships in question, I immediately informed the CO of the Battleship Bayern, who replied that they would receive the vessels to fix the IFFs, while "preparing for the worst".

My recommendation to fly to the Bayern was refused, at least for the time being, by Major Freiberg.

TRANSCRIPT PART 1 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

Complications
It was obvious to me that something wasn't right here and I gave a general call for assistance to System-HQ, at least to have the story verified by a high ranking officer.

The cruiser RNC-Rugen of the MND left the docks and joined the scene to assist us with the strange vessels. The KKS-Oder responded to my call for assistance from elsewhere in the system and rushed over to us, initially picking up the strange vessels as hostiles.

TRANSCRIPT PART 2 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

My judgement prompted me to reach out to the Oder's CO as the superior officer on the scene to reach a decision. Unfortunately their CO was not aboard, leaving me as the CO on the scene.

The strange Rheinland vessels then began asking for our names and posting, in return for giving theirs - so that we may be noted as obstructing their operation in their own report.

MND snub "[BDM]-Freya" joined our own group.

About then I received order from command to let the strange ships leave and simply report the names we recorded.
I was complying with that decision and communicating it to the vessels accordingly.

Then however the MND part of our group began questioning the strange vessels.

TRANSCRIPT PART 3 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

As the scene continued to unfold, the MND part of our group began to report clues that the strange vessels may be Wilde-infected. Hence I delayed to report the name of the absent CO of the KKS-Oder to Major Freiberg to gain some time.

More civlians joined the scene in orbit, making things more stressed and complicated, namely: The Revenant rejoined the site and renwed chatter, joined by Civilian Zoner "Hans von Goeben", belonging to Med Force Enterprises.

A Polizei snub "KPR|KGP.Wach.Erik.Kohl" also joined our group.

Another civilian by the name of Cipriano Adimari joined a bit later as well, his IFFs was also faulty.

TRANSCRIPT PART 4 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

The investigation by the friendly MND vessels prompted me to change my mind about immediate action. I attempted to order the MND craft to the Bayern for inspection, as previously planned.

I want to denote that the Technocracy vessel cheerished the chaos and disunity they witnessed.
The RNC-Haferbock also engaged in chatter with the Zoner that was unbefitting and not helpful to the situation.

TRANSCRIPT PART 5 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

Another strange MND ship, "Brunnling", appeared and joined the confronted.

Meanwhile, the MND vessels on our side reacted negatively to me ordering their fellows around, hinting towards the lack of jurisdiction and the prospect of a possible fight in Orbit of New Berlin between Rheinland law enforcement vessels.

I did agree that the risk of such a result were severe and I did not want to put such humiliation on public display, not after what was already transpiring. There was always a chance to investigate the encountered vessels later and dispose of them elsewhere.

Oberleutnant Jurgen Schmid arrived on the scene.

TRANSCRIPT PART 6 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

Resolvement

In addition, the mention of "Alsace" and the Cologne corridor did intimidate friendly vessels and made it less likely they could engage the presumed enemy Wilde with good conscience.
So I decided to go with the judgement of the Rugen and not interfere with the MND. (See highlighted message above for reference)

The KKS-Rheinland arrived on the scene just at this moment.

This resolved the immediate situation finally, as the strange vessels and most civilians began to disperse. As my shift drew to close, I handed over command to Oberleutnant Jurgen Schmidt to take over. My transcript continues a bit into his shift and probably overlaps with the transcript of the KKS-Rheinland as well.

TRANSCRIPT PART 7 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

I look back on this chaotic incident with mixed feelings. I do believe that we solved it in the interst of our House to the best fo our ability, but perhaps future protocols can hopefully avoid these situations all-together and teach us on how to deal with 1) Faulty/Disabled Law Enforcement IFFs and 2) Clues of Wild infestation, espeically of law enforcement.

Aside from those, I do certainly recommend investigating possible action against civilians involved, whose actions bordered outright mockery. In regards to the strange MND vessels, I do express my hope that an official military inquiry by command will solve this matter and clear up all misunderstandings.

I will accept all responsibility for my actions and appropriate punishment, should my behaviour have obstructed official Rheinland business and a legetimate operation in prepartion for the Alsace passage.

Achtung, soldaten.

I have recently received a detailed report from Oberleutnant Werner Roth which is both concerning and enlightening. Familiarize yourself with the report, and the mistakes which were made on all sides, then learn from them.

All offiziere and enlisted personnel MUST be familiar with both our laws, and the history of the Rheinwehr. All on scene will report to my adjutant Leutnant Beist after they have done so, or I will know the reason why!

This so-called Major is nothing more than an impersonator, who has clearly studied some of our history. They are to be arrested upon sighting and brought in for interrogation, with extreme prejudice for non-compliance. The freelancer questioning our motives is yet another provocateur of their breed, and will be fined, then blacklisted if their behavior does not improve. Leutnant Beist will have the details for you in the database. The MND vessels will be dealt with by our sister service and need not concern you further at this time.

Dismissed.

Subject: Standoff At NB on 26th / *REDACTED* Encounter No.2

27th of February

Sehr geehrter Herr Großadmiral,

regretably I must inform you of another encounter in orbit of New Berlin with some the ships last seen on Friday 23rd. The incident resulted in the destruction of two military Oder-class gunships: RNC-Telemark and KKS-Untergang.
This time the Direktorinnen of the Marinenachrichtendienst and the Reichspolizei were involved on the scene, and so were the Order and other foreign factions. If it was just the MND, things would have been much less complicated. I do not know why coincidence demands my involvement with these matters (way above my paygrade), but I hope - for the love of god and the Kaiser - that I have seen the last of this. I shall not ask any questions and will simply report on what transpired in detail. I hope this will be the last detailed report of this kind I have to submit.

// Remark 28th-Feburary
The regular reports were already submitted to my direct superiors on the same day, as always. While compiling this report however, we have started seeing severe equipment and commmunications malfunctions and outright failures on the Bayern. So far we have failed to identify a cause. It is like the equipment itself is trying to prevent this report , Herr Großadmiral.

*REDACTED* Ships Detected during Patrol

As Patrol NB-5-8340226 was under way, traffic control identified Order ships somewhere in the New Berlin system. We also picked up their encryped frequencies around 1740 hours. The Cruiser Fuchsgeist of the Reichspolizei linked up with us to conduct a search.

TRANSCRIPT PART 1 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

Just as we had lost the Order ships, we returned to orbit of the planet at 1800 hours to find a familiar standoff in the making. Flieger Joachim Stahl was the first to pick up the vessels with faulty IFFs and called for assistance.

End of Patrol / Formations in NB Orbit

There were three groups of vessels forming:

Rheinwehr / Military + Reichspolizei
- (Snub) Obl-Werner Roth
- (Snub) Fl-Joachim.Stahl
- Military Oder-class RNC-Haferbock
- Police Danube-class KPR|Fuchsgeist

Büro des Marinenachrichtendienst / MND
- (Snub) Viper.VI
- (Snub) BDM|Phantasia
- (Snub) BDM|U-95

"Unkown" / Faulty IFF (referred to as Sektion-7 of the MND going forward)
- MND Oder-class Rubezahl
- MND Oder-class Walkuere

There also was a Daumann escort snub "{DHC}Waechter".
More vessels arrived later.

I gave a system-wide advise for caution to civilian traffic, informing them if "unknown ships".
There were some concerns expressed over violation of protocol regarding IFFs, coming from the Police, Military and even the Daumann escort. We quickly got the nosy escort to leave the area.
I then asked the familiar, unknown vessels for Major Freiberg, who unfortunately was not among them today. The Order vessels also offered "assistance" from afar, an offer which I promptly declined, instead ordering them to leave our space immediately.

TRANSCRIPT PART 2 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

Given the delicacy of the situation and the complexity of different branches - as well as foreign agents - being involved, I decided to provided security for the MND while they sort out their internal buisiness. At the same time I was advising them to clear orbit and conduct their meeting elsewhere.
I recognized the callsign "Viper" as the Direktorin of the Marinenachrichtendienst and credentials were correct, hence the military remained passive and on stand-by under my command. We would cooperate with the MND to engage any suspicious vessel, when needed. Likewise we would also fight the Order if necessary.
If further military craft the likes of Major Freiberg would show up, I was also prepared to question and destroy them. Due to the apparent links with the MND-buisness though, I would delay engagement until we are on the same page as the Direktorin.
A display of disunity and chaos like last time was to be avoided after all.
Regardless, the sight of this so-called "Section 7" was making us military men and the police uncomfortable and - in the case of the police - perhaps trigger-happy.

TRANSCRIPT PART 3 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

The military Oder-class "KKS-Untergang" arrived on the scene and I was preparing to have them join formation until I realised their IFF was faulty. Then I questioned them and received no adequate answer.
The MND Oder-class "BDM|RNC-Klingenstadt" arrived, accompanied by Snub "BDM|Kpt-R.Muller". They joined the BDM's existing formation.
The Direktor of the MND agreed with our judgement and ordered the unknown vessels to accompany them to a safe location. Perhaps they were planning this all along.
This solution was prevented by the Police cruiser opening fire on the Rubezahl. It appeared the Directoring of the Reichspolizei was aboard and she demanded that the unknown ships remain in orbit (probably until we could dispose of them). For the time being all of the MND wouldn't resist and remain in orbit as asked.

TRANSCRIPT PART 4 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

Apearance of *REDACTED* and *REDACTED*

An Order ship " "Vagabond"|S8 " arrived in proximity and began transmitting questions. I belive they were sent as a scout of their fleet to investigate. The on-going situation with the police took priority, so I decided not to engage for the time being, but focus on the task. The task not to have Rheinland ships attack each other.
The Police cruiser began briefly chasing the Order ship away, while Viper was ordering to let them proceed.
While this time the Polizei was going along with the judgement of the BDM, things got more complex. Another faction involved themselves. A cruiser of the Artificial Intelligence arrived on the scene, keeping their distance, and identifying themselves as a "independent entity", seemingly seperate from the hive. In the ensuing investigation, they reaffirmed our suspicions that the unknown MND/Military ships may be Wilde-infected, though they refrained from explanation. They then agreed to follow our laws and leave the system as ordered.
The military Oder-class "RNC-Blucher" arrived and joined our formation.

TRANSCRIPT PART 5 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

The military Oder-class "RNC-Telemark" arrived, their IFF appeared just as faulty as the KKS-Untergang's who recognized them.
There also was a Freelancer Snub, designation "Klein-Ente-27", an apparent first flight. They were ordered to leave at once and were able to follow that command, to the best of their ability.
Following that encounter, Kpt-R.Muller of the BDM began investigating the Order ship. I once again ordered the Order ship to depart immediately, but Viper told us to stand down. I protested, but I did not want to go against the Direktorin. It appears she was cooperating with the Order to verify claims of Sektion-7.

TRANSCRIPT PART 6 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

The AI vessel finally departed, as ordered.

Destruction of KKS-Untergang and RNC-Telemark

Next the attention turned towards the two military ships with faulty IFFs. It appears that Sektion-7 denied the involvement of these with Sektion-7 over secure frequency to the Direktorin, but this is merely my assumption.
Shortly after, the Direktorin of the MND gave clearance to engage and destroy the Untergang. By the time I mirrored this order, the BDM and KPR had destroyed the Untergang.
While this was happening, the Order ship was leaving orbit and so was the RNC-Telemark. The Direktorin of the MND ordered to assume the later hostile. The Polizei cruiser persued, while we and the BDM formation stayed in orbit. I hear the Telemark managed to escape, but was later caught and destroyed by the MND.
In the Aftermath, Viper shared some of the reasoning for her decision-making and promised we wouldn't see Sektion-7 ships again and that she will answer questions to the Oberkommando, if needed. I recommend listening to Part 7 for the detail.
I then ordered our men to stand down and return to posts. Freelancer snub, designation "feegaard", arrived just as we stood down.

TRANSCRIPT PART 7 / MAXIMUM CLEARANCE REQUIRED /

I appologize for the complexity of this report. I am trying my best to report on these complex events in a chronological and orderly fashion, but there is only so much I can do with my limited capabilities. I take full responsibility for any mistakes. Regardless, I am confident that the information is all accurate and lines up with the transcript. You may be my judge.

Same goes for my behaviour on the scene. I believe I have learned a lot from these encounters and I shall promise to make good use of my experience - especially when it comes to dealing with the other national agencies.

I want to commend the RNC-Haferbock and especially Fl-Joachim.Stahl of the reserve regiment for commendable and supportive behaviour today. Joachim Stahl in particular would make for a great addition of the primary fleet and I look forward to serve with him again in future.

Subject: An eventful patrol

Guten abend.

Several days have passed since this occured, I beg you will excuse my tardiness in bringing this up. I have had some pressing on planet business I had to attend before I could make my report.

It began in the Omega 7 system, some time after the appearance of several nomad vessels, which were repulsed of neutralized. I was conversating with some other members on patrol, at the time.

It was then we recieved a distress signal from deeper within the cloud, by our own Flieger Klaus Schwerdtfeger. The cause, I found out, along with another Rheinland agent, and Bootsmann Voight, as well as an Auxesian, A/)-Revenant, though they were standing by the whole report, was a Freelancer, Cipriano.Adimari (//|Aoi) who apparently wanted to "chat" with our new Flieger. Given a past... incident we've had with him, I did not like whatever cause he was supposedly around Schwerdtfeger for. The Rheinland agent and the Freelancer seemed to have a... not very friendly past.

Before a fight almost ensued between an aggravated officer and the Freelancer, I dispersed the situation, and ordered them back to Freistadt. The Freelancer was loosely stalking us, I later found out, all the way through this report.

From there, I returned to Planet Stuttgart, where, while I was speaking with Flieger Schwerdtfeger on the contents of his chat, I came back to a distress call, and found a Rheinwehr Revenant class bomber disabled, with the Freelancer standing by it. Immediately I knew what transpired, we engaged him. Due to the efforts of several agents, the so called "Mercenary" was finally put down. It appears he had rather malicious intentions against us. He needs to be placed under arrest and bountied immediately, before he can cause further damage.

Afterwards, myself, the RNC-Rugen, and Bootsmann Voight were engaged by a Unioner Cruiser, the Gewuhl, and another Unioner gunship, the Leipzig. Our lone cruiser was outclassed against two capital vessels, and our fighter weaponry were ill equipped to deal significant damage against their large armor.

I signalled for backup, and the [RM]KKS-Wetzlar and [RM]KKS-Bussared arrived, and neutralized the subjects.

With Rheinland clear once again, I returned to Planet Stuttgart.

That is all.

If you are reading this, then my mashed "encryption" attempt was successful. I beg you do not share this with anyone outside of High Command. Please keep this down-low for the time being.

Once again, my most sincere apologies for the delay. The reason for the wait was to find any leads that might explain some confusion. Needless to say, all the above was not all that happened that night.

It began in the Omega 7 system, some time after the appearance of several nomad vessels, which were repulsed of neutralized, as. I was conversating with some other members on patrol, at the time. This you know. However, that was not everything that happened. I also came across one Bootsmann Frieda Voight, which may have brought some questions to you on the de-encrypted version, as she has not been seen for almost three years. The appearance after the long absence was odd, to say the least. She somehow still knew me, though apparently had gone through a "mishap" during that time.

We were interrupted. It was then we recieved a distress signal from deeper within the cloud, by our own Flieger Klaus Schwerdtfeger. The cause was the Freelancer, Cipriano.Adimari (//|Aoi) who apparently wanted to "chat" with our new Flieger. I failed to add the previous addition beforehand, there was a... very good reason he wanted to chat.

[25.02.2024 23:15:44] Cipriano.Adimari|Aoi: I was concerned I would miss my opportunity for the two of us to chat.
[25.02.2024 23:16:01] [RM]Obl-Jurgen.Schmidt: Whatever "chat" you wanted with that officer, is directly my business
[25.02.2024 23:16:04] [RM]Fl-K,Schwerdtfeger: There is nothing of interest I have to tell you
[25.02.2024 23:16:20] Cipriano.Adimari|Aoi: No, it was not, because I fear neither you nor I may receive a truthful answer.
[25.02.2024 23:16:41] [RM]Obl-Jurgen.Schmidt: Hm? And why is that?
[25.02.2024 23:17:04] Cipriano.Adimari|Aoi: I saw you, out there, in the Edge.

The flieger shrunk away after that, and I brought everyone back to Stuttgart. I had a... bad feeling about whatever was happening, and I needed to discuss with them in private.

First, however, I wanted to know a little about the returning Bootsmann. I inquired where she had been, and she responded she had been confined to "on planet training" during those years. I knew this not to be true, as I had seen her in the Buro during that supposed time.

She said she had some disagreements with some of the other Rheinwehr agents, and that was her punishment. It was at this time Oberleutnant Roth had to refuel, and departed, and was ambushed while alone. Me and the Schwerdtfeger returned by the planet shortly after, and I inquired of what he was doing in the Edge worlds.

While recalling his story, we were interrupted by the Mercenary, and Roth was shot down before we arrived.

Everything that happened after this time in my report happened exactly as written.

It was after this time that I recieved my long due explanation from the Flieger.

The purpose to the expedition, I found out, was an impromptu investigation, after some sketchy occurences surrounding the BDM and another freelancer, Caliban.

Another cell of the Buro attempted to bribe Caliban for the evidence, which was extremely odd, and the flieger followed them of that accord.

From there they were stalked, all the way, by the Freelancer, and potentially several others who were with us in this report.

This is what I came to discuss. Flieger Klaus Schwerdtfeger traveled alone with suspect individuals, Cipriano Adimari has been following him, the MND and specifically the BDM is investigating itself and making deals against itself, and any names and entities listed in this report and the previous may also be part of the puzzle, and must be carefully observed. As well, any returning entities that have returned to service within the past month must also be watched.

Something is going on.

Meine Herren,

As Captain Koller is currently unable to make a report, likely for some time, and the situation requires it, I shall submit one in his stead. Due to the sensitive nature of events, the ship intelligence officer has informed me to redact much of this, and to hand off a more secure version when the Oberkommando can arrange to do so.

The Kaiser was ordered to conduct a pre-mission reconaissance using available equipment. Making a successful transit outside of Rheinland space, it entered the operational area, [REDACTED]. The Captain immediately ordered the crew to set out scanners to survey the area and any points of interest. Numerous false-positives on our scanners forced the Captain to order a ready posture. For three hours we conducted our operation relatively undisturbed and continued to collect reconaissance data.

Interference scrambled our electronics, making us unable to attain a precise time, but at roughly 06:00 we detected what was believed to be a Unioner gunboat. This was followed by the unexpected arrival of a Liberty Dreadnought tagged with a Bundschuch IFF, as well as a Liberty Insurgency battleship with a [WITHDRAWN UNTIL FURTHER REVIEW] IFF. Before the Kapitan was able to ascertain the intent of the oncoming ships, a squadron of unknown warships approached. Two capital ships, and a snubfighter in total were reported by the sensor officer. One Donau class, reported missing-in-action, the [REDACTED], one [REDACTED], and a ship with a [WITHDRAWN UNTIL FURTHER REVIEW] in total. They promptly joined formation with the Unioner vessel.

Following this, we received sporadic communications from them, before they engaged the two battleships. Contact and sighting was lost with the two battleships as the Captain ordered a defensive posture. We were unable to determine their fate. Due to conditions in the system we were unable to launch a fighter screen. The vessels managed to catch up with the Kaiser and we entered a pitched naval battle. While we managed to damage the enemy vessels, the number proved overwhelming without an escort screen. The vessels ceased fire and urged a surrender, which was denied. I observed an oddity, Captain Koller communicating seemingly to nothing. The strain of combat must have taken it's toll as he fell unconscious on the bridge. With the commanding officer incapacitated, and many others injured or unable to reach the bridge, I took command. I promptly ordered our security teams to prepare for a boarding action, and had the ship steered towards the nearest jumphole we surveyed. The enemy attempted to negotiate a surrender once more, but I stalled them at best capability possible.

We were left with one of two decisions, surrender, or attempt to fight our way out. I chose the latter. Outnumbered and heavily damaged, we dumped our excess cargo, diverted all power to shields and engines and I ordered a retreat. Left with our exit blockaded, I made the decision to ram an enemy capital ship. With our mass and velocity the maneuver succeeded, and we managed to exit, ending in the Omega-7 system where we sent out a distress call. We were not pursued, and under escort managed to return under own power to Oder Shipyard through Rheinland space.

In total we sustained moderate casualties, although the inability to launch our fighters ironically spared our squadrons. Notably, our Captain Koller is still hospitalized on the ship infirmary. The damage assessments indicate repairs can be made. I currently have command until he recovers or a replacement is dispatched. We await further orders and at protocol request further debriefing due to the events. I personally recommend this report makes it up the Oberkommando and that I be allowed to give a more free report to the Admiralty in person.

Für den Kaiser! Für das Volk! Für Rheinland!
