Subject: Sigma-15 patrol, Freelancer carrier sighting, gravitometric spike

Guten Tag Offiziere.

Yesterday, I proceeded on another standard deterrence patrol of Sigma-15. Upon entering the system, I was advised by Leutnant Holzner he and Fahnrich Baumann were covering the Freeport, which I assumed to be a training exercise. I therefore proceeded towards Hammersee and the Pellworm field.

Though the area around Rheinland assets was clear, upon my approach to Pellworm, long range scanners detected a substantial presence inside the nebula. A Freelancer "Bustard" Carrier, callsign The Boot, was located just inside the nebula! After my interrogation did not receive a response, I called on Holzner and Baumann to assist me, as I was piloting a lighter craft than my usual Revenant.

Before they arrived, the Carrier moved towards a gravitometric anomaly, which I took to be the jump hole to Sigma-17. After a brief delay to wait for reinforcements, I decided to follow them through. However, on the other side, I was greeted with a ludicrous scanner reading - the carrier has opened another jump anomaly! Suspecting a trap, I decided to delay until the Leutnant and Fahnrich arrived on scene. Their arrival coincided with the entrance of the carrier into the jump hole, which I believe caused some kind of gravitometric spike.

All my logs after this event have been wiped clean, and Leutnant Holzner's vessel was disabled. Without being able to communicate, I relied on LIDAR and coarse signals to locate Holzner's vessel, and instructed Baumann to fly close and pick up the Leutnant. As we were exposed and barely operational, I proceeded back through the jump hole and Rheinland space for repairs. I believe the Fahnrich followed suit, but I cannot say for sure with my sensors severely limited. Unfortunately, both the communications log and any recovered guncam footage is likely unusable, though I've already handed off my Disir to the communication and sensor specialists at HQ.

Subject: Patrol Report at Sigma-15 System

Guten Tag Oberkommando.

Yesterday, I have been ordered to undergo a routine training then patrol exercises in the Sigma-15 system.

I met with Leutnant Holzner at Freeport 8 and began our training exercises in the surrounding space, involving basic and advanced flight trainings. Korporal Beist met us near the end of our training, and went ahead with the patrol shortly before we wrapped up our exercises and began our patrol as well.

Shortly after starting our patrol near the Norddorf Asteroid Field, I received a priority message from Korporal Beist, indicating the sight of a Freelancer Bustard class Civilian Carrier, identified with callsign 'The Boot', inside the Pellworm Asteroid Field. Leutant Holzner and I immediately divert our path to Pellworm to provide back up, as both of us were flying the Revenant bombers and were better equipped against a potentially hostile capital ship.

Korporal Beist reported the carrier has entered a gravimetric anomaly, which according to the our database, appears to be a jump hole to Sigma-17 system. Beist followed suit moments before we arrived at the coordinate. We decided to follow Beist into the jump hole to render any necessary assistance. A rare fluctuation to the jump hole's integrity caused significant stress to both our ships during the transit to Sigma-17 system. My ship was shaken violently but held up, however I was not able to immediately identify Leutnant Holzner's coordinates upon exiting the jump.

My ship's system, likely due to the unusually strong interference and stress during the transit, was scrambled. After successfully rebooting some of the basic functionalities of my vessel, I received a signal from Korporal Beist and the coordinates of Leutant Holzner identified via his LIDAR. Following Beist's instructions, I immediately approach Holzner's coordinate and found out his ship was completely disabled, likely due to the unusual stress during the transit. Holzner ejected safely, and I beamed his escape pod onboard and closely monitoring his conditions.

I was not able to detect anything beyond short-range sensor, and the reported capital ship 'The Boot' was nowhere to be found. Communication with Beist's ship was also unstable and difficult, but I believed Beist has returned to Sigma-15 system via the jump hole. Considering our situation - we lost Holzner's bomber, our sensors weren't functional, my ship was damaged, and the carrier's location was unknown, I decided to flew back to Rheinland space and ensure Holzner received the proper medical treatment and attention.

Fortunately, my ship also endured the transit back to Rheinland space via the jump hole. However, repeated jumps using jump holes caused further damage to the ship's system, communications logs and guncam footage seem to be corrupted and lost. The ship's black box and computer were handed over to the relevant specialists in case any information could be recovered.

Subject: Liberty and Core shady deals in Hudson

Guten Abend,

I have encountered an interesting transaction taking place in Hudson.

Core was dealing Xeno Relics to Liberty Navy ([LN]) in plain sight. Now - of course, there is nothing illegal when done in Hudson as our laws do not stretch to the border worlds, but it is definitely an interesting fact that Liberty is dealing en masse with these commodities with the Core on our direct borders, especially the same Liberty force that has trespassed in Rheinland space illegally on multiple occasions.

They have also stated that the treaty between our two houses is deemed void by Liberty officially due to it not being signed by our current government:
Quote:[05.05.2024 16:59:48] [RM]KKS-Einheit: K: It would appear your government lists our Hudson peace treaty as "Inactive"
[05.05.2024 17:00:09] [RM]KKS-Einheit: K: Do you have any details as to why?
[05.05.2024 17:00:26] LNS-Shenandoah: RO: Well. We cannot say for the government certainly as to why it us now "inactive".
[05.05.2024 17:00:41] [LN]-LLS-Mount.Rainier: It became inactive after the government we signed it with was overthrown.
[05.05.2024 17:00:51] [LN]-LLS-Mount.Rainier: And replaced by your current government.

Although naturally, we do not want more tensions with Liberty, these actions are very suspicious - the Core using Hudson to smuggle Xeno Relics to the Liberty Navy in plain sight? Liberty not honoring prior agreements?

Subject: Operations Log, Sigma-15

Report as follows:

Operations within Sigma-15 have preceeded as ordered. I have personally led our fighter wing on several long-range patrols to secure the system and can note several incidents.

1. The GMG have constructed a facility roughly 8 kilometres north of Freeport 8. This was done with the help of Kishiro tagged transport vessels. Patrols have not yet ascertained the full extent of operations being conducted in this facility. Kishiro vessels have been spotted continuing to operate in the area.

2. Corsair raiding forces have been passing through the system with alarming frequency, oftentimes coming into conflict with our own forces.

3. Raiding forces from the GMG have attacked several military, police and corporate vessels unprovoked in recent weeks in the southern end of the system. Recovered communication logs indicate they believe we are "trespassing" and violating GMG "laws" by operating in the system. Reasons for attacks on corporate vessels are currently not known. Our current ROE does not permit engagement of aggressors until fired upon, thus leaving our forces at a tactical disadvantage.

The current military situation is undesirable and may deteriorate without further intervention. To rectify this I recommend the following:

1. Increased military deployments to Sigma-15 as well as active cooperation with corporate security forces operating in the area.

2. Loosening of current engagement orders to prosecute aggressive GMG vessels unhindered.

3. A retaliatory show of force operation or freedom of navigation operation to be conducted, possibly on the GMG installation within system.

4. Increased restrictions on GMG ships within Rheinland space, active persecution of GMG vessels with intentionally overzealous security checks if the government cannot be persuaded.

The current situation remains tenuous and we await further orders on how to proceed.

Subject: Patrol Report, Sigma-15

Report as follows:

The Kaiser has repositioned to Hammersee orbit to shield operations within the system. This has become a necessity due to a spike in GMG attacks. One such attack occurred as of this latest report, a small raiding force consisting of a gunboat, the "Niigata.Maru", and a bomber, operating under the ID of one "Keiji'Namura". They claimed Rheinland ships, operating in our sovereign space, were trespassing. After refusing to comply with demands to withdraw we engaged them. The Kaiser with the assistance of Kruger security forces and a BDM U-Boat patrol drove off the raiders successfully. The enemy fled into the Nordsee Cloud and were not sighted after the engagement. It should also be noted Bundschuh ships were spotted observing this action, although they did not intervene on either side.

In addition to combat operations we have concluded a survey and found the following installations within the system, although reportedly many are due to be towed. These are as follows:

1. Redline Depot E - A base administrated by a Freelance group, operating in grid C5, closer to Hammersee than safety permits allow.
2. Breuninger Depot - The primary Kruger mining base in system, located in grid D5. Apparently due to be towed to a more practical position.
3. Swift's Mining Co. 1 - A large Daumann mining base, although traffic is very light for it. Located in grid square E7.
4. Nordsee Refinery - This is a GMG installation in the system. We have been monitoring it for traffic from GMG raiders, but so far we have not detected much other than normal cargo vessels. It is known Kishiro ships helped in the construction. The current location is grid square D4.
5. Miningfactory Neuss - Another Kruger mining installation, this one also seems to see less use than the others. Possibility of abandonment, the location within the Scharhornfeld is dangerous. Grid square F6.

Further notes on activity in the system: Some vessels have wandered into our fleet training zone despite the placement of nav beacons indicating the danger of doing so. Approval of the proposed "Festung Grauerort" has not passed the Ministry of the Interior, and our engineering units are awaiting approval to begin construction. Investigation of possible staging areas in the Nordsee Cloud used by GMG forces should be done. On a final note, the troops in the field greatly appreciate the loosening of our ROE on GMG vessels.
