K. 4 manuscripts list the number as 616. 1 early 3rd century papyrus also contains the greek letters for 616.
There is almost 300 ancient manuscripts that give the number as 666, including at least 1 from the 3rd century as well.
Some nut in the 11th century wrote 665, but I think he was just high...
Based on that, I feel pretty safe that the number is actually 666....not that I'm overly concerned.

This amuses me. We have to go with our customers on test drives, and what we normally do is go out into the lot to get the car, then drive it up to the door. What I do is quickly pre-program all 6 of the radio channels on FM to the same station - and all 6 channels on the AM side to conservative talk radio.
Strictly for my own amusement, of course - they punch in the dial, there's opera. Hit another number - same song. Rinse, repeat.
