I'm ok with having some partners and some detractors more than a just plain diplomacy, makes the things more interesting in my opinion. Also, the relation can change as time goes, so I think it' better a "temporary" partners and detractors than permanent neutral relations in this case. An excellent approach. As a Gaian, things are more interesting with a "live" enemy, so I wish you all success. RE: Planetform - SummerMcLovin - 12-15-2013 I totally forgot to mention Kusari! Although no Bretonian corp has rephacks to keep them out of the house, Bowex and BMM are barred from travelling through and trading there. Gateway is allowed access and Planetform has not been banned (but I don't remember any RP done about it, while Gateway were specifically allowed in). You should not have any trouble trading there though. As Syrus has taken from the IMG command chat there'll likely be some RP available about Toulouse. CR will probably also be involved, so it might be a good opportunity to bridge the gap somewhat. What people seem to have a problem understanding is that Planetform specialise in (and are probably the only group who can) actually changing the atmosphere of a planet. A lot of the uninhabited planets don't actually need this, Sprague and GranCan for example have plenty of temperate areas but just need infrastructure (which anyone who can build a space-base can manage tbh). Both of those are administrated by Bowex's Colonial Authority, while we're on the subject. Atka (which is open to be terraformed now that Liberty control the system) and Toulouse are need to be warmed up and made properly breathable for habitation respectively, as did Harris, Cali Minor etc. when they were started. Yuma's an example of the first kind, and there's no real need for Planetform to get involved - I've got a decent idea for it anyway (will need to ask Snak3 about getting involved actually). The Colonials are experts in the latter kind of "planet-taming" rather than planet-crafting though, given we've been doing it ever since leaving Sol. Ship-wise, Bretonian and Sirius-wide civilian would be completely open to you. Bret Lawful ships would indeed be rather restricted given the war, although some RP with BMM (who make them) and BAF (who authorise them and give them out) might give you some. Liberty and Rheinland civilian ships are options, although they might cause problems in their opposite house. IMG and BHG ships are available for escort and pew purposes. While you might not be nationalised and completely answerable to the Crown, don't expect all that much in the way of friendliness from Gallia. You are simply a fish too small for them to fry at the moment. Pel brought up some good points about Kusari, and I'd advise you to RP any deals and trading done there in advance rather than forcing your way into some potentially awkward situations (as Gateway| has done a couple of times). RE: Planetform - Pel - 12-15-2013 Try to push Bowex out (wink, wink)-- everyone against Bowex! *Pel puts on his Gateway hat* RE: Planetform - Syrus - 12-16-2013 (12-15-2013, 09:22 PM)SummerMcLovin Wrote: As Syrus has taken from the IMG command chat there'll likely be some RP available about Toulouse. Overall, of course, not all of the planets I mentioned need Planetform to step in to make them "perfectly habitable". I was just thinking that Planetform probably has the best ideas when it comes to that - as well as the best ressources. Some planets - like Sprague - are habitable, but just barely. Planetform could step in and make the situation much better bearable for humans. Of course that's not 100% necessary, but it would help. Of course not every planet can be terraformed either, keep in mind, you need to have the ressources available (in close proximity preferable) as well! Both Harris and California Minor have the ice asteroids needed for bringing water to the planet right next door. In the end - "sadly" - most of such RP that Planetform would do is "extremly long term" based ... while Harris is pretty much done (the texture could be changed a bit to better represent that?) and California Minor is soon to be done, a planet like Atka is at least hundred if not hundreds of years from ever being decently habitable. That very much limits the RP possible there. Also keep in mind to not overtax yourself; while Harris and California Minor being (almost) done frees up a good amount of work force, it wouldn't make sense for Planetform to jump at a dozen other major projects. Atka is already the next, I'd guess Planetform could take one more bigger project (-> one that makes sense) and besides that focus on smaller operations. But such is left to you. (I wonder if there could be any RP possible with the Hessians ... they wish to terraform a planet in O47...not that some of the PFI scientists suddenly disappear...) Planetform being a faction no-one ever really got into makes this one a big task. It means reading into the lore of the faction, gathering the backgrounds, infos and such, all by yourself...but it also means you can shape the faction a bit more to your own liking than you could do with other factions. Though, like Synth Foods or Cryer or ALG - it already has a set line of RP. Hmmm...don't let yourself get overwhelmed either! Just one step at a time and all... :p RE: Planetform - Tibbles - 12-16-2013 A lot of thanks for your input guys. I see there's a lot of information to handle, and I think some of it will be managed meanwhile we play. Instead of planing everything we will leave some variables like Kusari relations and Gallic forces/Planet Harris to handle while we play. Also I guess we will start doing routinely shipments to Harris, California Minor and cold bay depot from Canterbury and Poole. I'm in favour to do special things via small events while keeping a couple of pre-set routes to do when no events are happening so all who wants (friend or foe) can match us quite easily for fun an RP. So far I managed to find a couple of supply routes using only Planetform produced goods. Also, I understand that this won't be the first choice when it comes to earn money and it's more than fine on the other hand I expect to be a oportunity to fight in convoys against eco-terrorists, pirates while Rping here in forum the concequences what it happens. Also, most RP oriented players will have the option to go further in Planets description that perhaps later Lore Developers takes for the Planet infocards. (I'm working in a form sheet with like 20 planet variables to fill, so part of the job (for those who want) will set those variables according to the actual planets description, distance to the sun etc...) RE: Planetform - Highland Laddie - 12-17-2013 Quick question on Planet Harris: I notice on your Unofficial post, you listed this bit of info: "Due to the recent war with Kusari, and the current war with Gallia, Planetform has taken severe economical hits with the loss of Planet Harris and Planet Ayr, as well as Perth Station leaving Planetform much weaker than it used to be." Are you in-fact writing Planet Harris off as a total loss, or simply behind enemy lines and nominally under Bretonia/Planetform control? Are you still going to try to ship materials past the blockade to Harris, or just leaving it kinda in RP limbo until the "Gallic Question" is concluded? RE: Planetform - Jack_Henderson - 12-17-2013 Looking forward to rping with you. Summer has already posted the ideas, so I won't repeat it all. Catch Phrase: Toulouse. And we might find more stuff to do. RE: Planetform - Tibbles - 12-17-2013 Made a clean thread that will be the Faction info thread. Still not finished but separating the parts makes easier the editing work. @Highland laddie: While it's not 100% sure I guess we will rp the maintance of the colony at Harris (some kind of stand by status, not working on it but keeping the infrastructure) expecting the next Gallic move. The info about Harris is still to be polished @ Jack: Sure, I hope we start flying this weekend! To who may be interested to join, please poke me via PM. RE: Planetform - Coin - 12-17-2013 crazy suggestion. make friends with corsairs. sairs are supposed to be starving at all times. pfi is supposed to be able to tweak a planet's atmosphere to suit human life. what if pfi and sairs banded together to turn crete into a lush garden world, where fruit grows from every tree, and we eat so much asparagus that our piss turns the river's green (mollys, eat your heart out)? yes, it might sour relations with the gaians a little, but then again they are the other side of the map, and don't really come knocking when there's a raid. however, the gaian's friendliness to the sairs is based on the sair enmity to oc and mollys, and that's not changing in the future. the dealio could be kept on the qt, and the gaians not kept in the loop until tah-rah, the bioforming is complete and the price drops in the crete food market. raise the price of flora-gro on crete, put artifact buy prices on canterbury, and you've sorted out pfi activity, rp, AND given smuggling a boost at the same time. neat. RE: Planetform - Highland Laddie - 12-17-2013 @Coin: problem with that is that 'Sairs are a sworn enemy of Bretonia. If Bretonian government caught wind of such cooperation between one of their lawful corporations and a hated pirate group, it would be a PR nightmare for the company, probably resulting in the company being seized and liquidated, and the personnel thrown in Newgate for treason. |
