Failed Roleplay - MrCynical - 08-10-2008 Liberty has had problems in the past with AI characters attacking its ships and then claiming "malfunctions" (and then doing the same thing again afterwards). That isn't what you were doing, but it's the reason that Liberty lawfuls are very trigger-happy when it comes to AIs. Failed Roleplay - Armageddon - 08-10-2008 Next time post as an RP event on forums and see if anyone is intrested. Also i reccomend doing the event in some other liberty system. Who knows if you post it you might end up with much more complex roleplay as some of the unlawfuls might decide to join in. Failed Roleplay - xaviervelastin - 08-11-2008 I agree, I think that to really get people to understand you really need to attract attention, and NY is a really OORP system anyway, apart from maybe zone 21 etc -- because I've just started out I've hung around NY and its neighbouring systems in Liberty a lot, and you can tell that in NY, nobody really cares It's like, if you were walking around in the shopping centre in like your local city, with hundreds of different people shopping and going about their lives, and some crazy guy rants on about the end of the world or something -- you might throw him a furtive glance (and if you're especially evil, a few curses), but to be honest, you just walk on by and smile to yourself that you're not as insane as he is People don't care when it comes to new york:) Failed Roleplay - kindred - 08-11-2008 You attacked a Liberty ship, Liberty ships responded by attacking you. Am i missing something here or have i oversimplified things? :$ Oh right you want to rant, vent and moan because you were killed. proceed. Failed Roleplay - ()Alf - 08-12-2008 I'd say: 1. asking or warning in ooRP about the coming event might have helped 2. starting the malifunction with kind of (of course better thought through in the first place): - *system errors detected* - *identified virus* - *loading antivirusprogram* - *antivirus shutdown, unknown error* - *scanner shutdown, unknown error* - *reinitialising scanner* - *rescanning area, nomad vessel detected, defending human beeings, engaging nomad vessel* Might have been worked out in a better way, with 1. considered it might have been an interesting show. 3. LN forces might have tried to upload a better antivirus-program than installed on that AI, counter RP and responses could have made this really interesting (i think on startrek:yahoo:), while that, after first attack, no shooting would have been neccessary, until final antivirus efforts would have failed. I'm currently renaming my AI, cause it seems to RPing an AI is not too easy. Hope you guys find my post helpful. Btw, harvester seem to be some kind of AI with human onboard without control of the AI (my impression when one "taxed" me) *and with the english grammar, pm a correction pls:crazy:* Failed Roleplay - Silent_M - 08-12-2008 ' Wrote:2. starting the malifunction with kind of (of course better thought through in the first place):And that is exactly what he did. He built up this RP for about 10 or 15 minutes and was rambling on about spotting Nomads in NY. I didn't stick around to see the navy or police engage the AI but i can say for sure that what happened is simply poor RP from the lawfuls in NY. Agreed, Im an outcast who frequents that area, and of course, I tend to play along with large RPs, they are interesting. needless to say, someone engaging without so much as a "Engaging outcast" is incredibly frequent and just plain annoying, even worse when they dont RP at all people are killhappy, nonetheless Failed Roleplay - Dantrithor - 08-12-2008 Considering that many AI's have turned against Liberty in past months, you can not blame us for taking defensive measures against a new hostile AI ship. And, beeing an AI ship, the loss of a ship only implicates loss of some million credits, against the loss of 500? 1000? 2000? human lifes on board of the dreadnaugh the AI vessel was attacking. So, we put it this way: We ignore/do not attack the AI ship: - Liberty navy dreadnaugh lost (700 millions credits) - 500-2000 lifes lost We nullify the AI ship: - Independant battlecruiser lost (200 million credits) - 0 lifes lost (AI ship). It's very clear what any kind of navy or police would do, save the most lifes, and causing the least economical impact. Both Objetives were acomplished by the elimination of the AI threat. Failed Roleplay - ()Alf - 08-12-2008 Quote:We nullify the AI ship: Of course this might be an appropriate action, but in RP relation, did you ever try to interact in the "uploading advanced/said-virus-adapted antivirus" thingy ever without success? Somehow i feel its a fight of the better roleplayer, and forgive me, but there are many lawfuls then who could have helped with ideas to beat the single AI-RP one to get fixed again. (btw. i wouldn't take NPC as worthy than PC ones in an interesting RP story, they just popup in front of your cruising flight if unlucky, PCs had to work hours, days or weeks for their crafts) Imho, such players could add a bit bite to the game, but seems the so called RP-pros are kinda sick of RPing that deep when first shots are fired (sorry). But who am i, i just started fl-online about a month or 2 ago and tried to learn, but fast realized, that there are only 4 options, DIE, KILL, RUN or PAY. I never encountered RP-solutions yet:( Of course i cant say about the facts, i wasn't watching!! And for the future, maybe some people want to work out such stories before playing it, so i refer to the, already mentioned by someone, competition announcements (even it's not really a competition but a partial storyline), but also want to express my opinion to read RP stuff. NY chat is mostly ooRP i think anyway, maybe thats just that why you're used to ignore most chat in NY.
