RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - Lythrilux - 02-06-2014 As someone who loves Junker piracy, and leads a Junker factions which pirates, I would LOVE to see the salvager with a CD. However, when the thought of nerfs comes to mind, I'd rather see the salvager staying the way it is. It's a wonderful ship for group piracy right now, which is something I love because it brings JM and Junker pirates alike for beautiful piracy. As biased as this sounds, if the salvager is given a CD with no nerfs, I would love it. However, if nerfs are given to the salvager, I'd rather keep the one we have now. It's got the beautiful role of being a support ship, I'd hate to see that change drastically. Although, what nerfs could these be anyway? It'd probably be something along the lines of a smaller powercore or perhaps tighter angles on the turrets to decrease how many can fire in a given angle/altered turn rate of the actual ship. Honestly, despite what I said previously, there's simply not enough beneficial reasons to give either ship a CD to weigh up the potential negatives that'd come with the changes. The Salvager is pretty common, but the Raba is something of a niche ship, and changing either up would probably mean little in terms of actual gameplay except a few more options for solo pirates. If no CD means that players seek out others and pirate in groups, then I say no to the CD as well. RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - Murcielago - 02-06-2014 Hey This discussion was started in wrong way. You can not offer people something and at same time threaten them with "nerf". Let me ask people this way; Would you like to see CD on Raba and Salvager with no additional nerf? Well I would like to see that. Both ships are useless for solo piracy now. If trader can trade alone, why can't I pirate alone? Soo Junkers , Hogosha, FA perhaps Corsairs too: Would you like to see your ships with CD and no additional nerf? Also Junkers are grey eminence of Sirius, don't tell me that they can't "develop" CD for Salvager. Perhaps I'm little bias here, soo I will put myself in traders position; Oh no please don't put CD on Salvager, I could be robbed. Let him use additional player just to be "CDer" ( imagine his Rp; I Will CD you ). Oh if you give them CD, please make their ship slllooooowwww. Perhaps I will be able to outrun them. IoI how about don't give them CD becouse I will need escort and am to greedy to pay one??? Or this way; Don't let people use Salvager with CD I like when they pirate me with Cruisers or BSs (I saw that in O3 one shoot and trader was...well there was no trader any more) RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - Wraga - 02-06-2014 Personally I vote on the CD about these ships. I used to pirate in a Raba as a gaian some years before and it was perfect. Just take off the CM slots and give them CDs instead. RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - Govedo13 - 02-06-2014 I would like to keep the Salvager as it is because it suits junker RP and does not need any changes. Junkers tend to haul a lot more contraband then pirating, the sneaky excuse- "I have no CD slot I cannot pirat" is also worthy to keep. I would like to see the Raba rolled back to the 4.86 version because it suits the FA/Hogosha a way better then it is now, considering their lower population teamwork is not likely to happen compared to solo piracy. Seriously you are not too good in trade-offs. You try to standardize everything and keep everything the same. What about the following trade-off- you buff Raba core to 500k, you add CD, docking module place, CM,less hull and bots. Meanwhile you remove the FA/Hogosha ID Ability to use GBs and give hefty nerf for FA/Hogosha allies (75% core and generics 10% core in order to balance it. So you give the two half death factions a nasty toy in half death Kusari in order to create activity. If you want to talk about piracy and team-work create incentives for such. Why one would take any of those ships for team piracy? Full Charon P-transp is as efficient as one of the said ships however it can pirate alone, not to mention the vital speed differences, if you go for damage output there are heavy GBs/Cruisers available, if you go for cargo size pirate train could do better. Smaller transports are a way too OP because of their speed/size, also all of them have CDs if we speak about durability. No good pirate would take either Salvager or Raba in group piracy action because there are better things out there. Also the Solaris turrets are OP as well. You cannot ask us about particular ships when the whole pirate-trader system is badly broken by 4 things: 1: TS autoaim 2: Small transports size/speed TS/Zoom combo that allows them to solo bombers. Frighters cone also in this category. 3: The way OP Solaris GB turrets. 4: Cruiser Piracy Unless you fix those there is no huge difference if you change the cosmetics of those two ships. My fixes: 1: Reduce the zoom level depending on the class. Transports should not zoom so far out, same for GBs. 2: Bring back the old transport speeds. 3: Remove the basic and faction specific gb turrets, bring back everything as it was in 4.86 4: Add all cruiser/BS guns in specific class that got 80-90% deflected by transport ships, keep the cruiser speed to 130. Aside from that buffing the obsolete corsair transport to P-transp level/clone would be good idea as well. RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - Zuretz - 02-06-2014 I will talk only about the Salvager, since the other ship i never flew. Lets see, the junkers can only pirate outside house space, however, a CD is not only necessary for pirating, they can be used for not letting a Xeno invasor fly into your home system, Puerto Rico, for example, so it is an interesting discussion about the importance of a cruise disruptor on the vessel. Talking about piracy, if a CD was added, i dont think it would unbalance too much the game. Nowadays, if a junker wants to pirate with gunboat firepower, the only thing he needs is to buy a civilian gunboat, he will still be able to dock anywhere, he will be able to pirate outside house space, and will have the same powercore but one less turret (i believe 90% power core with the Montante and 100% with the Condor, but im not sure). As a defender for fleets and stations, maybe the CD could be added to the ship arsenal, as it can destroy torpedos, disrupts engine kills and so on... A CD slot would be nice, for like said before, gunboat firepower wouldnt be new to junker piracy, but nerfing the Salvager badly, well, if thats a possibility, im against it, it has a really important role the way it is, so if a nerf is in the gamble, im out. A sugestion: if a CD add is inevitable, make it a shared slot with a turret or the CM, so that players can choose between the old and the new "version". RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - cerious - 02-06-2014 Would prefer the Salvager be left alone and certainly it does not need any nerfs. Of course if you want to buff it with say 3700 cargo so it is restricted to Junker use only (as it should be) that would be nice but not at the cost of nerfs. If you want to pirate use the Pirate Transport, that's what it is for right? The Raba I don't use so have no opinion. RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - .Gypsy. - 02-06-2014 Well, it's pretty clear how this topic turned out, no CD for Salvi if it comes with a nerf, Nobody cares about the Raba so sure give it a CD. RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - Scumbag - 02-06-2014 I had a raba for my AFA. I had to sell it because piracy with it was no longer an option. Limit the number of gb slots. Nerf it's core to the lowest gb core. 4 guns in each direction. Add cd. RE: Discussion: Salvager, Raba and the dreaded CD slot - Haste - 02-06-2014 ..Or find a friend to CD for you. Nerfing these somewhat unique ships down so that they can solo pirate (For which there are dozens of options - have a look at all the small transports. With Charons, they'll kill most transports bigger than them with ease) seems like an awful idea. |
