The ban is in place for a few days already, its in the Liberty Forces message dump, we'll be making it official quite soon as well, most people find out in game anyway, if you're told to leave by a Liberty officer, then leave. Its quite simple.

You wouldn't happen to be the Merc that was hanging out by Z21 and claiming to have navy personnel hostage?

My point about banning Mercenaries is that it just stabs Liberty in the foot anyway. It simply gives another law for people to break and no doubt once this becomes widespread, there will be a lot more unlawfuls all of a sudden.
Has anyone ever thought that maybe the Mercenaries deserve to be there? This simply pushes people away from Liberty, just how things happened in Rheinland. Not to mention it gets rid of a good amount of roleplay oppertunities.

With this in place things will be a bit more black and white with the Liberty Navy against the Rogues etc. No possibilities for mercenaries to take part on either side, they only have one side they Can choose.
People in Liberty complain about the amount of unlawfuls in the nation yet everyone seems perfectly happy about enacting laws that actively PUSH people to join unlawfuls.

Essentially this law will only increase the crime rate of Liberty and reduce the number of ships the Navy can ask for help from.
Congratulations.

Actually mercs can and are allowed to make exclusive contracts with LN, to work for us, if they want to be in Liberty, if they don't then we consider them to be a possible hostile and the ban is in place, so there is no RP being neglected, in fact it opened possibilities for new RP as well.

well if the mercs wernt soovertly hostile(i havent seen one merc work with or for ln for the past 3-4 weeks mabye more)and activlly trying to breach restricted space ie zone 21 mabye it wouldent be in place we see you as a risk wqe deal with it acordingly

Jimmy you forget one thing, they are breaking the law while doing that. Do they care? No. So why does making a law telling them to go away help? They'll simply ignore that too. This just removes any possibility of those working with the LN.

In regards to exclusive contracts. More often than not I've seen the Navy run into big trouble in New York and ending up having to shout for help/ask for it. I don't know about you but trying to negotiate terms of contract while you are overwhelmed with gunfire can be a hard thing to do.

Mercenaries are a wildcard. They can work with you or against you. This law ensures more will now work against Liberty than with it.

We have bounty hunters for that, and I haven't seen much mercs helping LN, 90% of them is fighting against us, so yeah...ban's in place, and your point rather shallow:P

Ban on mercs in liberty space? - Linkus - 08-17-2008

If those 90% are already working against you, why are you banning the other 10%?

If this law is to prevent mercenaries from attacking the Navy then it's just plain illogical. The mercenaries that attack the Navy clearly do not care for their laws so why would they obey this one?

Ban on mercs in liberty space? - Titan - 08-17-2008

Because this way the mercs will not get the benefit of a doubt, and therefore a chance to kill us while we aren't looking. This is a precaution in RP for safety of our own pilots. Its quite sensible.

If they attack your pilots, stick a bounty on them. Liberty is an economic powerhouse after all.
Still, sorry if I seemed a bit hostile earlier, not trying to tell you how to run your faction, just merely pointing out the lack of sense in the law.
Your faction, your space, do as you will.
