Life as a Xeno - Mortum - 08-24-2008 I wouldn't complain if there was well payed missions for Xenos like there is for the other factions. I wont transfer money because I find it OOC. Yes it's a handicap to not "cheat" (yes, in my eyes it's just what it is, allowed or not. That's my opinion. But since there isn't any rule about it I accept that people will do it but I will not.) RP wise it's very wrong in doing so! It's the same thing as if you were playing lets say Dungeons and Dragons and you start giving your level 2 character stuff from you level 23 character from an other campaign. Xenos don't have the 750k payouts that the Outcasts (and presumably Corsairs) do. And no, the fighter Inferno is an Outcast/ally-only weapon. EDIT: ' Wrote:I wouldn't complain if there was well payed missions for Xenos like there is for the other factions.Oh? So you mean to say that the Xenos wouldn't shell out some of their own money to outfit one of their new pilots? There's more than one way to look at a money transfer, Issith. It's only out of character if you refuse to find an in-character explanation, many times such an explanation will be staring you in the face. My transfers to Ayumu Ishida? Loans from Don Emilio Santini. My transfer to buy the Phantasm? Logically speaking, a Destroyer is not bought, it is assigned; the money was a formality. Ah, I didn't see that you wrote this at first so let me answer it now... True, I carry a Xeno Terrorist ID. I didn't have that in mind at first. So let me rephrase my question. Why would terrorist buy a ID that says that they are terrorists for 500 000 (as far as I know it's one of the most expensive ID's exept for captial etc...) Isn't it better to let people think you are a civilian? Life as a Xeno - Mortum - 08-24-2008 ' Wrote:There's more than one way to look at a money transfer, Issith. Then why don't you start with 100 million so you get can buy all the correct items/ships? Because you are supposed to work for money to get them. Life as a Xeno - Ayem - 08-24-2008 Have you tried doing those 700k payout missions in a fighter/bomber? Death! Much death! I concede the point on getting money purely by missions for a xeno. However, with regard to the 'cheating' of transferring money from one character to another: You started on manhattan be you Rheinland or Corsair, you had no money and a starflea. Is that in your rp? I don't see a problem with getting a character to the point they should be at; a fighter that matches your rp with the right weapons, rather than running around with a ship you have no reason to be flying. Its not like you're powertrading to jump into a Xenos Spyglass. This said, I see nothing wrong with people working their way up however they choose to, and it could very well be in rp. Bounty hunter gets sick of killing his own people, switches sides for example. Also, I saw these two heading up through Tau-23 on their way up to Alpha and one of them died on the route due to an excitable rogue. Once he'd calmed down, we let them pass. I figured they were rep fixing or some such, either way one or both were under 40 and I'm not one for squishing midgets. Edit: Answer to the above post: So that people have trading characters for pirates to attack. Most people would never trade if they didn't have to, so no one would play pirates because there'd be nothing to pirate. It'd be terrorists vs. lawfuls, and this is not a pure pvp server. Life as a Xeno - Thexare - 08-24-2008 ' Wrote:Then why don't you start with 100 million so you get can buy all the correct items/ships?Not all RP calls for you to start at ground level. My Interspace pilot's had run-ins with The Order, and is already an experienced Griffin pilot, but he sold it and tried to get back into a more quiet life. My Hogosha has been one for years... should he be stuck in a Starflier when his backstory says he has a Crow? My Outcast is now a commander (and this, btw, is with cooperation from other people, not just something I threw in). You think he'd have to actually pay for that Destroyer, or do you think it'd be assigned to him? Hint: it's the latter. My LSF agent... well, he would've been assigned a ship. It's the bloody LSF, you really think they'd force their pilots to buy their own ships? Tiana and Mia Santini are the daughters of one of the most influential Outcast Dons. Somehow, I think a Starflier is completely out of character for them. Kyle Lundin used to work for a company of mercenaries. I doubt they'd send him onto the battlefield with a Starflier when they're using Eagles and Stingers. (This is my old Mandalorian, actually.) Do you want me to continue? Because I can keep this up all afternoon. Like I said, I'm fine with people choosing not to transfer money, my Interspace character is working his way up like that. But don't call it a breach of any roleplay or a cheat without considering the numerous legitimate explanations. Ayem: It's a matter of luck with those 700k missions. 3 out of 4 have been all fighters and base destruction. That last one, well... that was almost an instant death. Thankfully, capital ships don't have CDs. Life as a Xeno - Mortum - 08-24-2008 I don't find it that hard to make up a little RP reason to why your character would be stuck in Manhattan in a starflier. Some stuff happened and he got whatever ship he could or something like that. It's full of opportunities. No, I've never tried one of those 700k missions, I didn't even know such high payed missions existed. Why? You should know that by now... You could do some trading to buy a good ship later with that very same character. Or you may find it fun to trade... Pirating would exist any way. Well since this is hardly going any where I would love if a GM could answer some of my questions and complains. I don't want to take this in PM with a GM since there may be more people who would like to know some of the things I want to know. And so everyone who have participated in this topic would see and end to this topic before we start throwing things at each other. You start with a Civilian ID hence you are a Liberty Civilian. And you have to work to earn your trust in say, Rhineland to join their Navy or whatever Rhineland faction you want to join.. Or else I guess you'd start with a OOC ID that some people seem to say the Civilian ID is. If it is I think it should be written so in the rules, which it's not. Life as a Xeno - Thexare - 08-24-2008 ' Wrote:To be honest I didn't think that through so well. Didn't think this one through so well either, Issith. There are characters that should never even know what Manhattan looks like - a good example would be just about any Corsair, any Hogosha or Farmer's Alliance member, and the majority of Hessians, LWB, and Bundschuh. The galaxy doesn't end at the Independent Worlds. Life as a Xeno - Jihadjoe - 08-25-2008 Incidentally you keep reffering to a GM. That doesn't exist here per say, we have an admin team but the roleplay and roleplay events are left largely up to us. They step in when something goes wrong (like having a some bunch of morons with 'the lol's') or the server dies or somesuch. |
