If KUBANA wants to fly around with a Togo,Cruiser and GB what's the harm?
Feel free to make your group as you see fit, as long as you meet the ID limitations and don't go all crazy in system and local there won't be a problem.
All you really have to do is pick your role and continue to RP your characters how you feel they should be played, sure take some notice if others play with you or avoid you as an indication of how you are doing and just have fun out there while trying to make sure others have fun as well.
Ranks can be an important part of organising and holding a faction together, but some people don't like it and that is fine.
Interesting fact: Dragons have been fighting a war for 500 years while mostly trapped with a small population in a small asteroid.
I think inbreeding is a word I might be looking for, so crazy might just work as well.
