RE: The Casual Meeting - Saerieve - 09-07-2014 Filling his glass, Saerieve throws another disgruntled look at Rossi and says "Barely." then continues after taking a sip, "What does it tell you about your group when one of you tries to hire me to clean up a mess that's gotten out of hand, and less than a week later another one tries to hire me to kill the same person who tried the same earlier that week?"
RE: The Casual Meeting - Stefz - 09-07-2014 "To put it shortly - it tells that the wrong people have been leading the Ghosts in the past. Since I took over the administrator position, I am working on a major reconstructing within our ranks. The mistakes were made, but I am not the one to blame. Now that I have access to all the data, I am able to do something about it. I have looked through your files, and the reason why I came to you is because I know what you seek. I can provide you that, for a small favor in return." After catching some breath and taking another sip of his drink, Rossi continued. "This is your opportunity. Be aware, however, that I am not going to beg you. You know what is best for you, and I respect that. If you are not interested, I am more than capable of finding someone else who is." RE: The Casual Meeting - Saerieve - 09-07-2014 "Sounds an awful much like the words of the same person you're trying to get me to kill... So wouldn't be so sure about things being that different now." then pouring himself another glass, he continues, "The only time the 101st were moving toward any direction even remotely in line with what they thought they should be was when Jameson was in charge. Nothing good's come out of your group since and haven't seen anything that shows ever will. Only good thing you group has done since Jameson was making sure some random group of hypocrites like the Lance don't get behind the wheel."
RE: The Casual Meeting - Stefz - 09-07-2014 Valente looked at Saerive for a brief moment, with his expression making it obvious that he was surprised. "From what I understood, she tried to hire you to do a job without giving out any details, correct? Well, that was Zito's way of gathering followers - hiding the truth from everyone. That is not how I do it, so let me enlighten you on what exactly happened." Obviously, Rossi was exhausted from all the talk, but that didn't stop him from continuing it. "I am sure you heard of our previous administrator, Itziar Leiseka. Before she took the place as an administrator, she was conducting a dangerous research project involving cardamine unwanted side-effects. It, of course, led to a lot of people being her research subjects. She was constantly overdosing them, and as soon as someone died, he was replaced with someone else. After a while, the results did not satisfy Leiseka that much, which probably caused her to go missing - but I cannot say for sure if that was the reason." Valente took a couple of sips from his bottle, briefly looking through the window before continuing. "Do you think that I, a fifty-year old man, who has seen everything there is to see, would approve of such a primitive way to conduct research?" RE: The Casual Meeting - Saerieve - 09-07-2014 "You sure think too much of yourself, but you're not wrong either... and then again, who doesn't." Closing his eyes and rubbing his forehead for a few seconds, trying to collect his thoughts, he continues, "People are horrified of the truth. That's their problem. They don't just hide it, they try to run away from it, and even if that works in their own head, doesn't work well in the outside world - the real world. No group out there's what they claim to be anymore, because no group out there's admitting the truth anymore. They just see themselves the way they'd want to be seen, rather than the way they're actually seen, and people like that Zito... They're so used to the pretty lies they tell themselves that they fail to see the truth of no fault of their own, and simply because they've become blind it." Pushing his glass aside with the back of his hand, he grabs the bottle and starts drinking again as he continues, "And frankly, it doesn't take much. All it needs is having the guts to admit the truth, even if only to yourself, but seems that's too hard for too many people."
RE: The Casual Meeting - Stefz - 09-07-2014 "Exactly. I am surprised by our common opinions. However, I do not know if I should be, considering that you have been through a lot, just as I did. Anyways, if what I know about you is true, and you really seek a place that you could call home, I am able to help you with that. I offer you a place among the Ghosts if you agree to make the assassination happen. You must be wondering why would I offer you that? Well, it is rather simple - I am in need of men who are reliable and are not afraid to play dirty to get something done. I admit, I cannot reconstruct the Ghosts by myself - I need to gather some trusted people who do not run away at the first sign of change." With these words spoken, Valente proceeded to drain the rest of his bottle. RE: The Casual Meeting - Saerieve - 09-07-2014 Deciding he's had already more than enough to drink, Saerieve pushes the bottle aside, "Unfortunately..." pulling the Cardamine inhaler out of his pocket again and putting it on, he continues, "We don't live in a black and white world, so opposing the wrong is not always right. You seem to have realized the direction your group has been facing was not one deserving support, but there'd be no way to tell whether the new direction you've intended to take would turn out any better." Then pausing for a few seconds to carefully study the expression on the man's face, he continues, "I've already sacrificed three years of my life for a group who were under that very same false impression; A mistake I won't be repeating twice." then pulling up his sleeve, reveals a Blood Dragons tattoo covering a linear wound on his wrist, and adds, "Sure I'm damn tired of this wandering, and sure it's justified for you to take your chances with your Ghosts cause that's where you belong, but what makes you think same would in any sane way go for me?"
RE: The Casual Meeting - Stefz - 09-08-2014 With his bottle already drained, Valente briefly looked at Saerive, having a slight chuckle on his face. "You think you are the only one who devoted years of his life to a group just to get disappointed at the end and realize it was all in vain? It is almost funny how much we have in common. You probably have heard of Reapers of Sirius?" Pausing for a moment to study the expression of Saerive's face and taking some breath, Valente continued. "I have been a Reaper almost since their beginning, when they were still around Maltese sector. Since I do not want to bother you with the details you already most likely know, I will try to keep this as short as possible. I have managed to emerge as Epigoni leader back in the days, but those days are over, sadly. Not quite long before their disappearance, I noticed that something has changed. It was not like it used to be. The Reapers decided to leave their true goal and chase a pointless one, making me question their persistence." "After some time, I decided to depart from Omegas and return to Malta. Since then, I am a part of the Ghosts, and I do not recall them being like this before I left with the Reapers. A group that was once well-known and respected had turned into something completely different from what they should be. I intend to return the Ghosts to the right path, no matter the cost." Taking a brief pause, Rossi continued. "As to why I think you belong in the Ghosts - we share similar beliefs. To be completely honest, I do not think I have ever met someone that I could share my thoughts with, until this day came and I walked into this bar. Both of us could benefit from it - You would get what you seek for a very long time, something to live for, and in return, I get a trusted operative." RE: The Casual Meeting - Saerieve - 09-08-2014 Silently looking at the table for a few minutes, as he kept sliding his glass in a circle while trying to gather his thoughts, he finally looks up and mutters "So where do I find this Zito?"
