Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - Tenacity - 09-25-2008 I just always fight to the death to avoid this =P If someone leaves me with messed up equipment and doesnt kill me, I find someone else to pick a fight with. Insulting a lawful's mother tends to make them shoot at you fairly well. Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - looqas - 09-25-2008 I have equipment that is hard to acquire being out there alone most of the time. To me it's not about the money, but rather the availability of the equipment. And that with the time restraints in gaming time I have. I get to play maybe 2-3 max per week for couple of hours. I would be spending most of the time flying to acquiring the lost SN or Nuke mine. It's a lame excuse, but at least I can dedicate my game time to give some RP (and fighting if need be) opportunities to my adversaries instead. So In every fight there comes a point I either need to decide to retreat (while I have still all subsystems, but I know I might lose some very soon) or just stick with the fight. I know it's pretty OORP way to suicide your way out of the repair bill. That's why I don't immediately go seek suicide but wait and change the system perhaps and arrange so that I won't make it alive (pick a fight etc). But this is one of those very hard to judge things really. Nobody likes it but given the alternative I think it can be done in somewhat RP and style instead of "//gf" and after two seconds, "player x has committed suicide". Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - Rudo - 09-25-2008 If I've taken too much system damage, I suffer a 'failure'. This is done by EKing, then sending your ship into a spin by mouse flight and moving the cursor into a corner of the screen. Gives a very nice impression of spinning out of control and leaves your hands free for last-minute pre-death RP. But I'm more about drama and enjoyment than RP realism. Another simpler solution is to just go shoot a battleship. Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - mwerte - 09-25-2008 I know that I have RPed ejecting and being tractored into a friendly capship while my poor battered ship flys into a sun. Sorry but I'm not going to pay to let someone PvP whore a bomber in a missileboat. Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - Jinx - 09-25-2008 fair enough - would you take the repair bill if it wasn t a "lame missile boat" that ripped your equipment apart then? Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - bearlee89 - 09-25-2008 I see what you're saying Jinx, and I like that alot...ALOT! But I'm going to be scuicidal till the end. As Loogas said, sometimes, time is just to valuable to go looking for someone to kill you, or to go looking for lost weapons. Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - Tomtomrawr - 09-25-2008 if i lost equipment i would commit suicide, if i hadn't lost any equipment i would pay the bill, unless i have absolutely no money on that character (very rarely happens). I agree with Jinx that it is very oorp but i don't get much time on the computerand i have other games aswell so i do not hae much time to trade for repairs everytime i get into a fight. Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - hologram - 09-25-2008 to Jinx: I remember there was a tread about marsflyer guns. You wrote there You have a bomber with 4 stem guns 1, which are pretty good.... and a pain to get and also expensive as hell. What would You do if someone ripped those off Your ship?;) Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - Jinx - 09-25-2008 easy - loose them. - last time i had clover, my gaian equipped with 4 archangels. i lost them to a firefight with an escort. - 3 were blown off by missiles, the last one was destroyed by a mine. - the opponent blew up by the supernova. i lost the archangels - simple as that. now i have 4 coladas. before that i had a fight with my BHG against the order. i lost everything but the supernova - the repair cost me over 10 million + some time to travel around to bases that a BHG can dock with to replace the gear. ... but yes... i appear to have more time to replace that stuff, indeed. my opponent did not blow up by my hand. - we both had only the supernova left - he blew my stuff away with several sunslayer hits, i blew his stuff away with firestalker+cannonballs. - a single SN on a bomber cannot blow anyone up, acuse it recharges slower than the shields. - he planetdived btw. about the marsflyer guns - ( except htat i sold them to the NPC vendor again now ) - i would take care that i m not drawn into a fight that i don t HAVE TO fight. i don t go lightly into a pvp. i don t "seek" the pvp. - pvp is the LAST resort to solve any problems. while i had the marsflyer guns, i had a single pvp against one keeper.... he was destroyed but i only engaged him when he got into the closest range to FP11. when an active defense was inevitable and no one else would be there to assist anymore. - and thats a single pvp in over a month. - all the rest was solved by threatning people with putting a bounty on them or simply calling them to cease fire. - of course the life of a zoner is not as pvp centered as other factions lifes.... . edit: so, yes, i do take that serious. - when i sundived after every fight - i d take a firefight too lightly - i wouldn t consider it the last option anymore. - come to that, i take the roleplay serious in that aspect - but i take it a lot less serious when it comes to "roleplay rules" made by others or the stuff that upsets the community so often. - those i consider loose guidelines that are there to be broken. and i dont care what ship i use and what weapons i equip much or what others do - as long as they can explain it by what they do ingame. so i wouldn t care for a corsair flying a liberty dreadnaught if his story convinces me. - only when it comes to a char death, i think some consequences should be there. its the only thing in the game that makes me avoid a playerdeath / a pvp. too many players rush mindlessly into a pvp as if they value their char life to be worthless. ... and it is worthless when they commit suicide. Question about shooting to destroy turrets/equipment.. - hologram - 09-25-2008 Ok, lets assume repurchasing lost equipment is good rp. How about when somebody gets killed, but do not lose any equipment? In rp he has lost the ship and everything it had. *imagines red catamaran with 4 excaliburs, nuke mine, snova and mini razor* So this person has a pvp and dies. Respawns in Kyoto. Since he has lost catamaran, he should buy dragon or gb there and sell all equipment bomber had... Dragons hate him for this failure - so he should shoot npc until they go red. After that he should make them green again. Now he can go to guard system ( and ask permission from NovaPG before that on forums) and buy catamaran and armor again. Now a trip to some weapons dealer for excaliburs, mini and mines and repeat this after next destruction of ship? And what if someone with Cap armor 8 dies? I could afford this kind of rp only if my ships had no armor at all and only usual guns like Vengeance, Splitters, no nuke mines; in torp slot - cds or sunslayers or nova torps. I am not even sure if bomber would do any good with two novas. So - all should type *ejects and grabs all equipment*... before rebuying the ship. |
