RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Marburg - 03-06-2016 Alley. With all due respect, you do this place alot of good, but don't try to play the high card with me, you are just as abrasive when it suits you. I call BS. & Durandal: remind me what instance you refer to, I'ts possible I may have either did as I felt was right or toed the staff line...honestly I don't remember, so you're gonna have to be specific w/ me...& Lyth, do you honestly belive polls mean anything? Get with reality, cousin. Polls are never really relevant. they just make people feel better since they are never truly representative of the entire community & only reflect the opinions of those that choose to vote...Rule #1 never trust a poll... Rule #2 try to listen to legitimate gripes in your PM's RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - sasapinjic - 03-06-2016 Fight on forum ! yeay ! ! ![]() RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Black Widow - 03-06-2016 hmmm i think marburg already burned everyone in here, i dont think anyone else (staff or member) has anything to add. funny how you ask for an opinion and then your first response is a hostile reply to someone posting a link? then you wonder why people dont add further constructive input. ![]() RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Lythrilux - 03-06-2016 (03-06-2016, 02:29 PM)Marburg Wrote: & Lyth, do you honestly belive polls mean anything? Rule #2 try to listen to legitimate gripes in your PM's In my experience here some of the poll based threads have lead to something being done. Of course a poll isn't the entire community, I'll eat my sock the day I get every forum account responding to a poll, but they create a fairly accurate representation of community opinion based upon majorities. I'll probably submit the thread via player request after I get more results, to bring it more closely to the admins attention. RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Marburg - 03-06-2016 The staff knows that regardless of my tone I have what I feel is the best interest of the community in mind...it's telling to me that none of you are willing to address the original point & instead ignore it because I'm being abrasive...I get it. I really do, but grow a thicker skin ya'll & pay attention to why I posted the thread to begin with. I understand now better than before why the rest of the freelancer community views us as snobs. I am admittedly an ass at times & I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the echo chamber this community tends to be. If I have to rub against the grain abit to keep y'all at bay while I wait for the staff to say somethin' then so be it. I'm not the bad guy here, I'm just a guy that wants honest answers from those that can actually give them. RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Lennox - 03-06-2016 I call hypocrasy. There have been laid open a way of how to 'bypass' censoring. While that might be a tedious thing to do, I don't see the reason why you wouldn't want to perhaps try to rephrase a sentence/word if you put thought into a post anyways. That said, there are many ways to do so. While I'm up for a change regarding that 'filter' I've yet to have a problem with it. tl;dr too much fuss! You know a thread is over when BW makes a 100% valid point RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Venkman - 03-06-2016 I am pretty sure that Impy explained everything in his post. RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Xenon - 03-06-2016 With full respect to the OP and others, I think from my personal experience with forum posts and text wars (lawl) , that the best thing that should happen to this thread is being LOCKED and rephrased in a better way and posted as a new thread but this time, let's keep the respect mutual for and from both sides of the argument. As for my opinion regarding this topic, I think the filters are fine, and nobody needs excessive bad words even in role play. regards, Mark Hamann RE: Let's talk about the auto-censor for a bit - Marburg - 03-06-2016 Allow me to reiterate & further wax eloquent on my original post since y'all are so keen to ignore it & treat the rest as clickbait...The self censure feature is too draconian & posts need to be enforced more by the staff personally. Those that have complained about the feature before have a legitimate gripe & through recent personal experience, I know for a fact the issue has been ignored for a long time What I'm looking for here is to address that long ignored issue. I know the Staff is aware of this thread by now, & more than likely, the MO is to hope it dies out before a forcelock. All I'm really looking for here is an discussion about the issue, because I know for a fact how inconvenient the discussion is. That's why it needs to happen If the sycophants wanna complain about my tone for another few pages, fine. but I honestly believe we need to get off our ass & honestly talk about it w/o ignoring it. |
