With the help of @Unlucky_Soul for providing the Mako modell and @"Operator SmileWhileAlive" for remodelling, we now have the first model:
Just to give an update. Next step is fixing the model meshes, and later texturing, hardpoints, hitboxes and effects.

The hardpoints might be edited by admins during the unique ship request. So as the hitbox and effects. If you give me the 3D model maybe I'ok try to create the files for freelancer and maybe I could try it...

Operator and Piombo are using Blender, Unluck_Soul is using Maya 8.5, and if you ask me, they should get an award for being able to work with those two programs.

I would recommend cutting down the fins on the underside, else you'll hate travel just about anywhere within the omicrons

I'd say, remove the fins and get practical:
= either a secondary cargo compartment;
= or a big gun;
= or a platform with 2 extra turrets;
= or some other curious-looking futuristic device that mounts on the underside.
Who needs fins in space anyway

I want it to have a different appearance, not a overclocked Light+ battleship. I know the fins are something every PvP player would shout at me, but I like it that way. It's just about the appearance and less about making the battleship even more battleship-ish.
Aside from that, the only additional PvP feature would be an additional missile launcher.
But thanks for the suggestions for _my_ ship. ;D
