kusari heavy cruiser - Seth Karlo - 12-16-2008 I must say, you can make some bloody incredible ships. Where do you get your ideas from!? kusari heavy cruiser - Ash - 12-16-2008 Maybe not a heavy cruiser but a cruiser replacement. Otherwise you will have the entire KNF cruiser fleet being heavy cruisers. Unless someone were to soo the difference in speciality. kusari heavy cruiser - Xeno-Acid - 12-16-2008 Jinx, I just have to say that I admire your mad design skills. I've never dabbled in it, but I do so enjoy seeing your ideas come to life. Please do keep up the good work! Take care, Acid kusari heavy cruiser - Jinx - 12-16-2008 http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc79/Ji.../allrevised.png ( resized it to 800x600 ) here is a revised version - however - the problem with that is - that it doesn t look remotely kusarish. ( even with the attached kusari symbols ) its general shape is similar to the liberty BC - which could ... in theory .... be put into its story of creation. - liberty has stolen ships from kusari in the past - why not make kusari derive a house BC from the only house that has built one yet ( especially when its supposed to be more like the liberty BC in terms of speed and weaponry and not like the BHG battlecruiser ) the engine and the front section is already detailed enough, i think - the rear is still boring and plain. - i m planning to think of modelling a real chineese dragon and attach it around the hull - but that might blow up the polygons up to 8k ( bretonian BB : 10.5k ) ... but since battleships are rarely in groups - battlecruisers can easily appear in pairs of threes even. the design would show the "modern" kusari design. - not the original retro japaneese design, but more functional ( which could be plausible... in times of war, you need a functional warfleet more than one for shows ) anyway - appreciate feedback on this approach. kusari heavy cruiser - GhostFace - 12-16-2008 I really got to hand it to you Jinx very nice work indeed. kusari heavy cruiser - mjolnir - 12-16-2008 front half nice, back half not nice..... all kusari capships have some "round" engine in the back vertically oriented. cut it off behind the middle structure and try some heavy armored version of the dessie engine (maybe 2 next to each other and armored around)? kusari heavy cruiser - Jinx - 12-16-2008 @mjolnir: that doesn t work. - the round engine chamber ( which the battleship does not have - i think ) is part of the retro design of the ships. - kusari ships have very very large reactors, and very very small engines. ( liberty ships have non visible reactors and very large engines for example ) furthermore, kusari ships have no real "chassis". the gunboat is too thin and light to support a chassis that looks armoured, the destroyer is more or less only a frame and a few boxes, the battleship looks - with all its mass - still not like it has a real chassis ( or at least so it appears to me ). this ship has a full chassis that encloses the full front half of the ship and part of the rear. - it focusses on sharp edges rather than roundness. adding a vertical and round reactor chamber does not fit in. - thats why it has such a large and long engine ( like the LDN ). the design would be a cheaper, modern design. classic kusari designs are playful, ornamented. ( like an old cadilac 1960s ) - this new design is more like a modern military design - there is nothing "beautiful" about it ... and so there is no more need for things like the overlarge reactor chambers. ( more like a modern tank ) * * * i have tried the classic engine of the destroyer in the rear. - it looks stupid. if its made a design element of the ship, it looks dominating. - a round disc in an otherwise cube shaped ship creates a focus. the classic reactors fit into fragile designs - but not in designs that feature a full chassis ( or half of a full chassis ). the large engine is a counterweight to the forward section. if the ship got a reactor chamber, it could not have this large engine tube anymore. - if it had no engine tube anymore, the counterweight would be missed. - its just a question of proportions and aesthetics there, i daresay. thats the reason why this ship has the "round reactor" mounted along the axis of the ship - embedded into the large engine ( where you see the 2 round frames from the main hull supporting it ) kusari heavy cruiser - Walker - 12-16-2008 Just thought id mention... Rheinland refers to their Battleships as Heavy Cruisers... Infact most of Sirius do. kusari heavy cruiser - Dab - 12-16-2008 Just a note for future Kusari ship submissions.. Those fins on the back shouldn't be curved outward. Look at the Kusari BS (BTW, BB =/= Battleship.. There is only one B in Battleship. Its BS.) and Kusari GB. They both have fins that stretch down and back. But not to the side. They are stiff and straight. kusari heavy cruiser - bluntpencil2001 - 12-16-2008 It's nice, but it looks a bit more industrial, with less of the pretty (but pointless) aesthetics of the other KNF ships. Maybe some fins or (pointless, due to gas clouds and abundant H-Fuel) solar panels? |
