I'd be surprised if CR were around in the numbers they were the last event, honestly haven't seen or heard much from them, maybe this event is a chance for them to get back in the groove?

Numbers is not really an issue, you just have to roll out an adequate counter.
Like, in case with the Deimos fleet of the Tau-29 event a wing of Outcast bombers have been such a counter. Trust me, you can not negate eight Novas coming at you at the same time from different directions.
