The previous Administration of Freeport 2 was corrupt, and rightfully overthrown with my assistance. Now it is truly a freeport, the word has finally some meaning.

The Lane Hackers will try to assist you behind the scenes as much as possible but the Alliance should do its own part by temporarily terminating operations against the Union and starting some dialogue with their leadership. Corin Frei is the biggest failure in the history of their movement but fortunately the much more capable Admiral Schultzsky will be leading their forces.

Of course I am aware that this is a temporary arrangement and conflict is inevitable. Mr Morreti, there will be many diplomatic changes in Liberty once the Legion is out of the way.

Mister Yoshida.

I'll give it a try. Luckily, the Unioners have tried to reach out to us in the past and even though it was for the useless discussion of ideology, I think I can re-purpose the channel to serve this impromptu "diplomatic" endeavor. As long as the person responding doesn't reek of idiocy an agreement shouldn't be too hard to reach. You have my word that I'll give it my best.

Mister Yoshida.

I tried but negotiations seem to have fallen through, I presume Frei is searching for the end to a bottle in some dark corner moping over his inadequacy to remind communists that death is the only preferable alternative to their pipe-dream. I was hoping that someone else in their chain of command, well - at least I hope they possess one, would take over. But no dice.

Is there another link in our coalition that I can talk to or shall I leave the cooperation of the Unioners in your hands? On an unrelated note, I might have some spicy recordings of Liberty's Thug Forces for you to broadcast in your next radio transmission. I'll admit, I tend to stay tuned in.

Mister Morreti,

You are the King Cobra I keep hearing about, yes? My name is Wolfgang Weisen, an Emissary of the Lane Hackers. Since the Professor is busy with important matters he asked me to represent his office in this communication.

It is indeed unfortunate that you were unable to make a few temporary concessions to the Unioners. We do not blame you for this failure, we know that Frei is a proud man, perhaps too proud and idealistic.

However we are in luck as Frei will be occupied for some time now with other matters. Arbeitsdirektorin Yrsa Zepffenhain is the new face of the Union and from what I hear she is quite more compromising than her predecessor.

As for the compromising data, we are always interested in acquiring more evidence of the corruption within our House. However I am not sure which radio transmission are you referring to. We deliver our messages to the people of Liberty and Sirius almost always via the NeuralNet.

Mister Weisen.

Yes, that's me. And are you sure about not conducting any broadcasts? I quite clearly recall an unlawful broadcast in the local Manhattan grid on the seventh of June. We used to operate a similar service, I believe the equipment is still stored in its related vessel, though I don't see myself as powerful a personality as Greerson.

Regardless, I'll try reopening the channel to see if Miss Zepffenhain is relatively more reasonable, a surprising statement coming from a Xeno - yes I know. In any case I've uploaded a data packet with this transmission, it'll contain the potentially scandalous material I was hinting at before. Feel free to make use of it if you find the prospect of quoting careless comm-chatter out of context as part of a long-running smear campaign strategy.

If Liberty weren't so close to the potential threat of capitulation if the Gallic invasion manages to pick up steam, I'd be giving them grief for running their mouths and trying to step on people like us. My tolerance for mindless cockroaches is assuredly quite low. I'll spare you my hateful ranting and contact you when I have some good news regarding potential concessions with the Unioners, at least so far as our plans are concerned.

Seventh of June, Seventh of June...

Hmm. It doesn't seem we made any broadcasts that day. Perhaps you were mistaken?

Oh wait! You must be talking about Radio Free Liberty. Ahh it's a shame that a man of your.. calibre has fallen to obvious Ageira misinformation. This Radio is operated by various anarchocapitalist groups in Liberty. They are sympathetic to our cause and their heart seems to be on the right place. But that's all there is to it.

I will pass along your recordings however in the future you can contact them directly to share intel that the world needs to know.

Hello again.

It's been a while, but I've spent the stretch of time that these comms have been silent with thinking and constant deliberation. Today, at exactly this hour, marks the end of a long discussion I had with my advisors. We have reached the consensus that such an immediate and risky assault on Vespucci without any prior operations would be a plain gamble. I have witnessed a similar line of strategic thinking, though the man responsible for the disaster was one of ours, he charged the enemy headfirst, hoping to overwhelm and destabilize them, only to end up killing not only himself but his armada.

I don't want a repeat of that, not good for the reputation of anyone involved, is it? No, I'd much prefer actually winning, even if it might be a somewhat lesser victory by comparison to a successful invasion. Shift your focus away from Vespucci, shift it to California. The Legion maintains an outpost by the name of Hesperia in the system, isolated from its home fleet. It also resides within a dense asteroid field, which lends an advantage to lighter and more nimbly-built craft such as both yours and ours.

I propose instead that we lay a combined siege of Hesperia with the intent of either destroying or capturing it. I would prefer the former after looting it of course. The reason I suggest this is due to Hesperia's vulnerability. The Legion cannot reinforce it without having their backup cross paths with Liberty's own patrols in the system. In this way we receive two steep advantages over the enemy and I'm vastly more confident of a success in an operation such as this, rather than throwing every ship that can fly into the meat-grinder.

I figure all of you would share this assessment. The Legion is isolated, yes. But it isn't as if they're isolated in the middle of hostile space. Vespucci is a venerable fortress that invites such foolhardy attempts at a siege, and it would take every ounce of what the Underworld can offer to crack it. I respectfully doubt that our underworld has the unity to pull this off. The Hackers might boast the most skilled pilots we see on this end of the Sector, but there are too few of you. We may have the numbers, but we lack quality equipment. And the Rogues needn't be a factor worth considering because they are more likely to turn tail when the going gets tough.

It is also worth mentioning that with the Unioners growing more unpredictable and apparently betraying the arrangement we had worked out, in light of the fact that one of them attempted to assault me in Texas the other day, we will lack their bricks to serve as cannon-fodder. We must therefore reevaluate the nature of this conflict and seek instead to tip the scales into our favor as much as we can, while offering the enemy as little leverage as possible.

""Will you trust my assessment?""

Senor Morreti,

From what I can gather based on this little deal, the idea was that we'd ignore each other out in the field. I've done my part and made sure the Warfare department has followed, now I don't think the same can be said for you. Killing rogues is one thing, supporting the LSF is another.

Unless you can conjure a way to deviate my thoughts on the situation, or execute the said pilots for falling out of line. I think I'll go ahead and declare this friendship null and void.

Miss Wolfe.

For what it's worth, I didn't actually order any hostility or changes to the standing orders thereof. But all the same our arrangement was due a little reconsideration anyway in light of it being useless. The Hackers despite being an allegedly tight-knit core of intellectuals who are always one step ahead, have been anything but, at least from where I stand.

We acted in common cause until it became apparent that you weren't actually committed to doing anything productive besides the occasional posturing and assurances of your sector-spanning influence. And in the end despite all your schemes, the Unioners ended up proving to be better schemers. Go ahead with your declaration, we were never friends.

""i have no use for your schemes""
