The current state of RP, or lack thereof - marauder - 10-22-2006 @Badger: I didn't intend to have a go at the SF, as far as I knew the corsair dreadnought was a fully tagged and ID'd SF ship. You have my apologies for anything implied. As for corsairs using rhienland ships, I've never seen the point of yaren selling the rhienland bomber, though I doubt it'll be removed anytime soon. If their not using the bomber then thats also a good example of the lack of RP. ____________________________________________________________________ I never mentioned about RPing weapons beacause no-one would be interested in RPing and would only join/get the ID of whichever faction they think has the best weapons, which would mean there would be alot of players flying around as corsairs or outcasts. ____________________________________________________________________ @Dab: Stop flamming for the slightest little reason or don't bother posting here again. Your reasoning, dab, still fails when it comes to other factions. The zoners have no 'good relations' with the corsairs or the outcasts, nor anyone else. The zoner bases in tau 37 and theta are tolerated because they are currently useful, as soon as the zoners aren't useful they'll be destroyed. So they would not sell the zoners any ships, weapons or equipment that might end up being used against them. All of which is in the rumours you get in alpha and gamma, if people bothered to read them it'd clear up alot of misconceptions. Your alignment to the zoners means that you should be neutral with everyone, it doesn't mean that everyone is going to trust you or sell you anything you like. As for not being bound by the NPCs, thats only because they don't fit your faction exactly. The BHG or freelancer ID would fit your 'mercs for hire' background and image alot better. Plus staying in the same systems as the NPCs would mean you could only go a few systems to trade etc, and that alot of players would never actually meet, let alone fight or be pirated. There are no zoners in sigma 13, and the junkers aren't salvaging ships, their stripping and scrapping them for the ALG who are also doing the same thing. Plus theres no way you could hide the fact that your basically stealing war-graves from the 80 years war, you'd need a small fleet of lifters to move just a cruiser, which would tell anyone who saw them exactly what you were doing. Plus rhienland would go nuts if anyone even tried it. The only time order ships and zoner ship ever meet is in delta, which is the only place they have the common enemy your referring to, the nomads. The Order entered into an alliance with the corsairs before letting them have the plans for the osiris. The Order isn't in an alliance with anyone else, thats why you only see corsairs using osiris's. ____________________________________________________________________ As for the junkers, the only house ships they have access to are the debris in sigma 13. Otherwise they can always steal/salvage a damaged pirate ship, or rat out the owner and keep the ship... theres plenty of scope for some good and interesting RP stories of how a junker got a particular ship. ____________________________________________________________________ The whole point of this thread was to draw peoples attention to, what I thought, were serious problems with the RP on the server and to discuss what to do about it. The current state of RP, or lack thereof - Dab - 10-22-2006 EDIT: Okay, he beat me even to my own post... Also, Marauder, AW has area of influence in Sigma-13 and owned it for awhile. Thus, the debris field was owned by us before the area of unfluence concept came about. Therefor, we could do whatever we wanted from there, legally. NOW THIS IS MY FIRST POST BEFORE EDIT. I'm sure Wolfpack will post soon. But anyway, Colonial Viper and Battlestar are sold by ZONERS. Battlestar isn't even in star wars, let alone belong to the rebellion. Alliance Assault frigates are made by the Sullustans who were under control of the empire for awhile. Corellia is owned by the Empire, and they make the Corellian gunships. The Empire had more Corellian Gunships then the rebellion ever had. Nebulan-B frigates were stolen FROM the Empire, so they would generally have more then the rebellion. The only ship they got that wasn't at one point or another made by empire-owned planets and shipyards, was the Mon Calamari cruiser. Thats it. So don't give me this "they shouldn't use rebellion ships." The Rebellion were using the EMPIRE'S ships. The current state of RP, or lack thereof - marauder - 10-22-2006 This isn't about who sells what, or where a ship is from, it's about the fact that certain factions would not be able to get ships from another faction or they would shoot it on sight and not bother with what ID it's broadcasting. As far as I know there isn't a ship list for the Bs|. I just wanted to know if there was an RP reason why one Bs| member had a ship from a hated faction, thats why I commented on it. It's not posted here as Bs| is a full fledged clan and has it's own forums for this kind of thing. And for the last time. BlackSquadron Ships can only use: Star-Wars style ships, Order, Corsair or CIVILIAN SHIPS Meaning.. ships sold on zoner bases are generally civilian. The current state of RP, or lack thereof - Qunitinius~Verginix - 10-22-2006 Marauder, The Junkers are basicly like the Mafia in sirius. The provide all the way stations throughout the 3 houses (Hogosha take their place in kusari) and they sell cardamine. Also just because they like to scrap ships doesnt mean their gonna pass down say a severly cruiser goes floating past. What would you do? I would taking, fix it up, and sell it for a bigger price then all the arts I could have salvaged combinde The current state of RP, or lack thereof - Fellow Hoodlum - 10-22-2006 Wolf, It was in no way having a go at you, though I can't remember ever really being on your good side. Or you having a *good* day recently, please have one on me sometime ... Dab FFS, p*ss off will ya, keyboard and brain situation as usual ... Nothing to do with you ... Again Surprisingly I do make the effort to read and appreciate everyones efforts with their RP stories, and Wolf yours was a particularly good one. What I was pointing out was D.O.s, *Its a Starwars ship, so we can have it* ... Here I though it was a *BHG Dreadnought*, so its a clash of RP. Everyone else is sort of sticking to their faction based stories in Freelancer, this is a little sticky in in my view. Not my napalm around tonight ... Though I'm warming it up ... Hoodlum The current state of RP, or lack thereof - marauder - 10-22-2006 And how exactly would you get the parts for it? The ones that only the naval shipyards can make and repair? But I do see your point, it's a good idea too. Though if all the companies hate you the police and navy will go red as soon as you get close enough to a company ship. @WolfPack: So it's any starwars ship? So the BHG destroyer and BS are allowed, ok, just wondered that was all. If you put that line into the Bs| faction post there shouldn't be anymore confusion over what ships are allowed. EDIT: The reason hoodlum pointed out was exactly why I was asking about it. The current state of RP, or lack thereof - Angel - 10-22-2006 *reads posts* *Shakes head* I need a drink.... [attachmentid=876] The current state of RP, or lack thereof - McNeo - 10-22-2006 I didnt know Zoners were Civilians. I thought they were Zoners. And heres the definition of civilian Civilian I didnt think the Colonial Viper was a Non-Combatant ship. Sure a civilian ship can have defences, but it shouldnt be able to outperform military ships with many times its own funding. The only reason a ship could do that is if it had *alien technology* (which is the Viper). Civilians do not have access to this technology but Zoners (who gather it) do. Zoners certainly arent Non-Combatant as they ask to be smacked on the chin by the Nomads every time they go into Delta or Unknown (Gamma). Just my opinion: Flaming = go ahead!! EDIT: and their occupation is Zoner.... @Angel : ROFL  |
