Deep Space Engineering Communication Channel - eyvind - 04-20-2009 Begin Transmission From: Personel Department To: Protatoes-Jesuit Re: Job Dear sir, We appreciate your interest in Deep Space Engineering. However, your application raises a number of questions. Most importantly, how do you explain that your application is nearly identical to one previously submitted? You mention that we have requested information from you. We have, however, never heard from you previously, and we have no record of any request for more information from you. From the attachment of a B.A.R.F (a recently deprecated form) and the subject header, we can only assume that it is a job application, but beyond those points it does not read much as one. In the field marked "Education," you have written: "Psychological warfare for silent wars, institute of galactic conquest strategies." This requires significant elaboration. Have you been trained in psychological warfare at the Institute of Galactic Conquest Strategies? Where is this institute? Who runs it? How would such education help you in a position at DSE? In the field marked "Brief Personal Background," you have written: "Brought up a think tank member, geneologist Protatoe Jesuit neglected his role and began a freelance across space/time." Is said "think tank" the Institute mentioned previously? You have not mentioned any education in genealogy, is this an unintentional omission or was such education not required for the job? Did neglecting your role lead to professional discharge? What did you occupy yourself with during your time as a freelancer? What you wrote in the above mentioned fields would suggest that you have been previously employed, despite your response in the field marked "Previous Employment." Finally, in the field marked "Additional Notes," you have written that you are "all about teamwork." Your response in the "Brief Personal Background" field seems to contradict this. We await clarification. End Transmission Deep Space Engineering Communication Channel - Sprolf - 04-20-2009 **Incoming transmission** To: DSE HQ Pittsburgh From: Ensign Lucas Smithers of the DSE Blackburn. As is likely known and recorded, we previously left off our shipment in Ontario due to pirate threat. We resumed said shipment - which was to take us through California and New York to Fort Bush - some time later in the interest of expediency. We launched from Hamilton Station and jumped into California. At this point, we found it sagacious to take a vertical position above the system's horizontal plane, about 47K or so, if precision is necessary. Having reached said altitude, we navigated across the system with the knowledge that there were no less than 7 Liberty Rogues in the system at the time. We were quite aware that they might be waiting at the New York jumpgate for us, so the Captain used some "devious measures" to ensure our "absolute security and ease of passage" through the section of the system we needed to travel through - that is, the jumpgate. Our single transmission was as follows: "Any police in the area? How's the route from Magellan looking?" With that, the Captain was sure the pirates would make haste to cut us off, acting upon the idea that we were at the Magellan jumpgate. Naturally, this was not so, and I am pleased to report that we saw hide nor hair of any pirates at the gate or for the remainder of the voyage to Fort Bush. The Dublin gold was then sold for a tidy profit and the Blackburn left for Colorado in the interests of shipping gate parts to our construction site in Okinawa. **End Transmission** ****Supplementary Transmission**** We are pleased to report that said shipping of gate parts to the construction site was a complete success. ****End Supplementary Transmission**** Deep Space Engineering Communication Channel - RoJim - 04-20-2009 ~~Incoming Transmission~~ From: Protatoes-Jesuit To: Personel Department Re: Previous transmission Regarding my previous transmission: It is now blatant to me why my last transmition raised so many concerns amongst you and hope to have this oppertunity to ammend the confusion which followed my application. Queit rightly so my father used to call me 'an eager beaver' he said I was always extremely forward with my intentions with very little doubt in decision making. As a child my father saw that in me, To link this story to the topic at hand: 40'so years later the same still applies- in my application to DSE i was extremely forward in my intentions to work, and with little doubt in my mind, i pre-wrote two transmitions, the first (NOT recieved) an introduction with a little history about myself, my intentions for working in the DSE and how my specialization will benefit DSE. The second transmission (which recieved) was the neccesarry details needed by you (if requested) the previous transmission was NOT the job application as percieved "we can only assume that it is a job application" without hesitation i will establish an uplink and resend the original transmition. uplink establishing........ Please wait........ From: Protatoes-Jesuit To: Personel Department Job application My full name is Protatoes-Jesuit but i would prefer to be reffered to as RoJim. I grew up in sector seven slums, midgar- while president shinra was in power. Though my family was not rich in material, We were rich in values and traditions, From an early age i was tought that mental muscles are stronger than physical ones and its the memory you leave behind not the material you leave which has value. These values remain unscaved by the passage of time, and remain enhanced resinated inside of me to this day. My father packed in his job as a researcher/reporter to become a pilot, escorting V.I.Ps and traders as a freelancer to get money to send me to a recently(at the time) formulated scheme of education, known as a think tank. While he was out in space i became more independant than ever before. I excelled in the program and prematurely passed with some dificuilty. Though it seemed radical at the time (arround 7-10years into the program, after passing several stages) my whole life up till this point was, sort of lived in a shell, shielded from 90% of what there was to be experiencing, when my father told me stories about his travels in space, through tau and other systems, you can imagine i was queit exited!~ He would often get anoyed at me for asking him to tell me stories because he would want me to speak about what i have been learning, but to me it didnt compare to what he had to say. My current studies at the time was psycological warfare(a compulsory subject after 4years), i was learning how to fight silent wars, wars that if bought before the public domain, it might be recognized as a technically formal declaration of domestic war. President shinra was the one who introduced the think tank(Positions like presidents have the MOST to gain out of such schemes as follows), he made it appear as an educational scheme (which was true) however he didnt let new applicants know (when it was introduced) that he would later (6years after the first students came, as in when their an established member of the think tank) use the think tanks ideas, power, thought you might say(monitor the results of exams, tests, student essays), for implementation, personal research, generation of new schemes, sociological reforms (or deforms as the tutors all whom were aware laughed and joked about). I was slowly becoming aware of the presidents need in this group, we were given tasks on "how to disengage the populations minds, sabotaging their mental activities" it became clear to me that this institute was no more than an undercover, Indirect secret army of thinkers who had waged war (unknowingly) on the public, especialy children without the parents any the wiser. We were told that it was called 'social sciences' or 'humanitarian studies' ideas that we thought were SICK yet possible, were being implemented two steps a time, then one step back. The whole time fantasising about being a pilot, then it wasnt until i realised my personna (mentioned earlier) was being killed by this scheme. Consequently, I became too horrified to what we were studying, and too exited to see space like my father described it too me and my 20year contract to the scheme was broken. I hope you can understand that I have no previous employment due to joining this scheme. The education from the scheme will help no way, shape or form in the DSE however what i have learned from it is invaluable. My intentions working for the DSE to get a ship, become a pilot and save myself from suffercating in the iron shell ive been wearing for so many years. My motive behind these intentions has already been stated so i need not ellaborate why i need a ship, why i need to become a pilot, why i need the DSE!! i feel that i will be up for any task at hand and have all the motivation i need to be the best damn pilot i can be! i owe it to my father to atleast do that. Kind Regards~ RoJim **Uplink error: 404 Lost connection to host** Hope this clears things up and my application goes smoothly. Even tho Rojim's ship is less techonogically advanced than the rogue's ships were, he was a valued asset to the repent of the rouges attacks. It may be so that his weapons had little effect on their ships shield + hull but he held his ground. We headed back to Baltimore shipyard to make repairs and handed over the rogue pilots. I Noticed his name wasnt on the roster. ~~End Transmission~~ Deep Space Engineering Communication Channel - douglas_brad - 04-22-2009 ***Incoming Transmission*** User ID: Burt Gummer Location: Baltimore Shipyard Re: New York Patrol Report. Gah! Pirates everywhere today! I swear, you couldn't hurl a dead cat into orbit without hittin' three of 'em! Ehh, in any case, I cleared "Balty's Bay" and put out my hail. Not much pick up, 'cept for timmi, timmy... Ehh, it was one of those. I tried trackin' him down, but ran into a Rogue in one of them big ol' transports so I hop over to shut down comms. Hell, don't wanna attract that kinda attention running solo. So I slip past the guy regardless and head on my way. After halfway through my patrol, I'm monitoring the ships already in system when within a few minutes of each other, two LPI vessels disappear off long range scanners... I can only fear they fell prey to the many pirate traps out today. Also, I managed to acquire the legendary Hacker, Phate on medium range scanners in his party of three. I didn't even bother to get any closer than that. I'm only one guy here. I promptly laid course to the nearest bar to count my blessings for a silent escape. Really, what kinda chance do us civilians stand out there when a whole police patrol can mysteriously vanish?! I mean, I log probably more sim-time than most people view as sane, but I see a need to prepare above the average citizen. The Police and Navy won't always be there, so I may only be an escort pilot, but I WILL do my best to clear the Liberty skies. Ugh... My head! Well, this place is startin' to feel like home. Ugh... Oww! Okay, I'll just lie here and type. Well, I can vouch for that Hacker guy, Phate's skill. Ever since I saw him the other day all I could think about was gettin' a piece of his hull to adorn my stateroom. Oh, the stories and rumors just dug into my ambition and, Heh, that's all she wrote I'll say. Well, it started out a simple enough patrol, Sofia and I were to patrol Balty to LA and back. Seemed easy enough, until we hopped through the Cali gate and the beauty of an engagement lay before us. LPI were on the scene doing all they could, but both of 'em fell, there was some short work of a freelancer as well, but to no avail. All that stood between the Hacker/Rogue duo was myself and Sofia... Oh Sofie... I caught her distress call, but couldn't get to her. I hope one of the late arrival LPI managed to snag her... Oww! Right, the debrief. Well, I gave that Hacker everything I had, even took his hull down to about 1/8th! I went for a greedy killing blow which cost me my ship, and by what I'm told, my consciousness as well. I remember clearing my ship as it decompressed in a massive fireball. then being pulled toward an LPI ship, the pilot said "I got y-" then I woke up here. Ugh... All that work I put into my baby. Hopefully my insurance policy can bring her back from the dead. Hell, Hopefully Mr. Johansen will allow me to fly her again... Nighty night, Burt Gummer ***Cease Transmission*** Deep Space Engineering Communication Channel - Sprolf - 04-25-2009 **Incoming transmission** To: DSE HQ Pittsburgh From: Captain Weber Beckmann of the <strike>RIN Jormungander </strike>DSE Blackburn, Pueblo Station After the trading run with the DSE Lassen, we stopped at Fort Bush to liquidate the gold we had purchased from Graves Station. I left Ensign Smithers in charge of this task, while I took care to rearm the ship, as we'd run into many pirates along our route. I had coincidentally left the communicator on, and I heard what sounded like a storm brewing - a sole LPI arguing against two Outcasts. I sounded like much more than bickering, and I knew he didn't stand a chance against two if it came to combat. Thus, I, sensing what was to come, I told the mechanics to rip the fuel lines from the Blackburn and clear her for takeoff immediately. I leapt inside, without time to get the Ensign. There was no time to spare at all. I closed the cargo doors of the Mammoth and, upon quickly receiving takeoff clearance, blasted out of the hangar as if the Banshees of the Imperial Navy had come back from Sigma-13 and were haunting me, right upon my trail. Er... anyways... I proceeded to take the lanes to the area of conflict - off of the West Point/Manhattan lane. Those Outcasts had already engaged the Policeman, so I told the crew to arm the flak turrets, ready the torpedoes, and charge the mortars as we dove into combat, gloriously charging for the sake of Rheinland! The bombers were everywhere, but against all odd, the Jormungandr managed to take one down via the skill of her gunners and an accidental collision which only made the inevitable more expedient for the bomber. There were more, though, and a massive combat ensued. I know not how long it wore on, but we appeared to be making excellent ground in the conflict... And then that single ship left charged us... and we charged him. Just... just like before, we passed after parting blows, and all was well. The torpedo ripped our hull to shreds at that very moment. The crew couldn't make it to the pods our demise was so quick. But! Luck was on our side. A nearby merchant rescued my pod, and most importantly, we reigned supreme, and within moments of this unfortunate attack, the Police Officer dealt with the Outcasts. He then took my escape pod from the trader and dropped me off at the nearby Newark station, where my insurance providers were more than happy to help me with my predicament. In conclusions - Liberty has triumphed once again through teamwork and courage! User ID: Scott Stevens Location: DSE)Rainier Captain's Stateroom Re: Christening Ceremony To DSE Headquarters Pittsburgh,
After several days of bickering from the crew, as well as in the best interest of the company, I transferred command of the DSE)St.Helens to the inactive reserve fleet on Baltimore Shipyard. In return, I assumed command of the newly commissioned DSE)Rainier. A "Mastodon" class Liberty Super Transport. My previous crew is anxious to resume their assigned duties aboard her, so it goes without saying they are gladly welcome aboard. It seems the maiden voyage didn't turn out as planned. My apologies to the Lassen and Blackburn for my abrupt landing sequence due to the catastrophe in engineering which started in Manchester and was thankfully remedied at Thames. We launched shortly after repairs were complete to finish the trade run, and I might add she's running better than new. We had an uneventful, but successful trip through the run and back.
