Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - JIVA - 05-09-2009 but - 2 order carriers loosing against one BHG battleship ... that sounds like you made some massive mistakes. the order carrier might not be able to dodge like hell - but i am fairly sure you didn t do it by the books - but rather charged into it. the carrier has 18 guns - two of them have 32 - they can fire 6 light mortars at once - sort of... if they have enough distance they can bombard the battleship with dual missiles from a range that the battleship has no chance to even fire back. - they also have thrusters AND battleship shields ... you can outdamage the battleship, you regenerate faster, your weapons are more efficient and you have close to the same armour. 2 carriers loosing to 1 BHG battleship..... unlikely. if you figure out an optimal strategy - and your opponent doesn t cheat ( cruise to catch up ) - you can fight a battleship forever - giving it no chance to EVER hit you ( cruiser missile 5500 range, - battleship missiles 4000 range ... two cruisers can fire from 5k - and the battleship cannot fire back, cannot close up to you ... all it can do is retreat ) Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - reavengitair - 05-09-2009 I think you will find it is quite likely. For example. A carrier can fire 3 motars at the same time and that drains all it's energy. I agree - the carrier is like a mini-battleship with all things good about a cruiser (except the dodging thing) and the size of a battleship. Why we lost - Heavy motar = OHKO with no shields. 2hko on me because I have armor. But anyway - I have vsed many battleships in my carrier, only one of them we succeeded in killing it. Here are the times I've lost. 2 carrier + 1 recon cruiser v bhg battleship (also bhg and order bomberswarms) carrier + recon v orisiris 2 carrier v osiris Each of these times we lost. Also, it's impossible now to longrange a battleship because cruiser missiles no longer deal shield damage. But anyway despite this. I LOVE MY CARRIER. It might suck at killing battleships, but it's still my favourite ship. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - Harcourt.Fenton.Mudd - 05-09-2009 ' Wrote:Yes cruisers can't kill battleships. Unless of course they are very bad and have 12 flaks or something... NOT true. However you need several things, propper kit, propper piloting, and numbers. Charging a BS (especily one with cap8) will just get your group lolwuted. Using good tactics will RAPE a battleship. Cruisers have the longest ranged weapon in the game for a reason, with identical power cost and slightly lower damage than the light mortar, in the form of the cruiser 'missle' turret. Cruiser torpedos have a 4.5k range. Stay at max range, spam those, and the battleship WILL die. Same for using mortars at range. It wont be quick, it wont be pretty, but it will work. Add into the mix heavier caps to stand up to the BS while the cruiser/dessie spams light mortars/torpedos, and the cruiser wont be damaged at all. That said, capital solaris should have at least similar range to that of the ships basic turret, cause GOOD bomber pilots wont dual you or stay in close, they will stay at range and feed your munchies with a SNAC. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - reavengitair - 05-09-2009 *sigh* As said before. A cruiser simply CANNOT kill a battleship. If you want me to go on and on about the same thing i've said more than 3 times today, then go ahead - ask me to. Try reading some of my other posts about cruiser missiles. And by the way, cruiser torpedoes (i assume light motars) have a range of 3k or something - identical to that of battleship turrets. Judging from what you've said, i doubt you have actually tried killing a battleship with a cruiser. And if you have, i doubt you succeeded. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - Robert.Fitzgerald - 05-09-2009 Cruiser solaris are fine - they are for defending against bombers, not hunting them down. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - MarvinCZ - 05-09-2009 *sigh* Two Cruisers can kill a Battleship. Yes, I've tried it. You can go on about it, but you can't prove more than that you and your friends can't do it. That hardly speaks about the impossibility of the task in general. Now, I won't talk about the Order Carrier for a moment, because that's a huge beast. Ordinary cruisers can kill a Battleship quite easily. Infernos + Light Mortars + Dodging + Patience = Dead Battleship. You can use Cruiser missiles (aka Cruiser torpedoes) instead of the mortars, your choice. You will have to use Infernos/Mortars against the shield of course. Yes, you will be in range of the Battleship weapons, but at that range you can dodge almost all of its fire. Again, not talking about the Carrier. There are also simple strategies when attacking a large target in pairs, like going full evasive when targetted and attacking when not. The Carrier may be able to do it somehow, but I admit I'm no expert on that ship. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - reavengitair - 05-09-2009 2 cruisers can kill a battleship. I never said that it could not. I stated that 1 cruiser cannot kill a battleship. Some cruisers would be able to kill battleships, but it all depends on what type of battleship/cruiser youre talking about. Carrier v osiris/bhg battleship/any small battleship is likelye to lose. But anyway - I have a carrier, and the best i've ever done on a battleship with it is taken half a battleships's hull down + their shields. I could take it down if I had cap 8. But in anycase - its a battlecruiser (well kinda, a really heavy cruiser). It may/may not be able to kill a battleship. But I have yet to see an average cruiser take and kill a battleship 1v1. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - MarvinCZ - 05-09-2009 Then I have no idea what was your previous post about. Everyone here talks about groups of cruisers, not soloing a BS. A cruiser is not meant to be able to solo a battleship. It could happen with great skill and luck, even against a decent BS, but it would be extremely rare. It would take VERY long and any mistake of the cruiser would be deadly. BS missiles could prevent it entirely though. I'm not sure about them in this scenario. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - Harcourt.Fenton.Mudd - 05-09-2009 BS missles basicly make soloing a BS in a cruiser impossible. It may take a while, but one WILL get thru, at which point your sheilds die, then eventualy another will impact bare hull. Cruiser grade Solaris turrets. - hribek - 05-10-2009 Nice observation. You just found out that cruisers are not meant to solo battleships, and cruiser / BS missiles are best at countering small, agile cruisers. There's nothing wrong with that. |
