RE: [Official Event] Snake Eyes - jammi - 09-04-2024

I think the IMG have the moral inclination to help, for the reasons Petitioner has pointed out. Capacity to house the people, less so. Primarily, the Guild is an employer and an industrial organisation. Those industrial stations are cramped, spartan and if you're there, you need to be directly involved in the work to be done. There is no space or capacity for refugees, nor is it a safe place for them.

Of more concern, the Zoners of Freeport 10 made the concerted effort to get rid of these stranded slaves precisely because it's placing a massive strain on their own resources, and a plague (Orange Fever) is currently ripping through the population and spreading into the Freeport itself. Trying to House the refugees on an IMG station would end in absolute disaster, due to a lack of facilities and that disease getting worse and potentially even spreading to other crew members.

Moving them to a developed colony means there are going to be adequate quarantine and medical facilities, which are sorely lacking in Tau space. Gallia and Cryer are both also equally capable of providing those facilities, however it would be for the IMG to draw their own conclusions about all of the involved groups' motives. Gallia in particular is still a xenophobic and insular House who wouldn't help outsiders without an ulterior motive, and Cryer is an unethical biomedical megacorp surrounded by dark speculation and rumours about what they were getting up to in the Sigmas.

I see that many people take the lore almost personally. It's okay, different minds perceive what they read in different ways. The event looks good, maybe a little short on time duration, but it's sure to be good.
For my part and what I know in general of the factions involved makes sense, IMG is a mining corporation, although they share the ideals of abolishing slavery, they cannot afford to ruin their settlements and stations no matter how good intentions their members have.

Can't wait to open up a slave "corpse" on half.
