If you scope the rumours, they are all desperate for money though. A lot of them moonlight security for the corporations, even synth foods, and some talk about giving up the military for a full time job in a corporation.

Also remember, what you read in bars are rumors. Truthfully, I see people claim that the LPI is corrupt is canon, but no where can I find, nor has anyone provided, concrete fact to support these claims, ergo, it is rumor.

We do the best we can with what we got. I issued a LPI challenge to the community, and only 2 people took it. Guess people thought it was too hard.

I see KSP and LPI being corrupt, Rheinland I think hires lots of Bounty hunters and BPA is supposed to be uncorruptable, though I have seen a rumour on Newgate stating that a police officer is serving time on newgate for attempting to carry orders from some crime lord to inmates, so in theory all of the police are capable of corruption, its entirely up to the characters, and police can obviously arrest eachother depending on circumstances, running spike ops to catch a police officer in the act and have him arrested (though probably with concent), maybe then get aquited or make a new character.

All part of trying to make it more interesting to be police, I dont see that many police about really, though these days it seems like 90% of the server are indies and traders. I'd like to see more BPA for example enforcing a blockade in Leeds with BAF, with Edinburgh included (BPA only in Edinburgh, I think).

Honestly, if anybody who offered me a bribe was a bit more creative in RPing it and didn't just say "2 mil to let me pass?" then I might seriously consider it.

Remember, quality RP is rewarded with good results, at least from me.

True policemen - ... kur nubÄ—go? - 07-02-2009

Biger then the fine.

In RP terms the fine shouldnt go to the officer pocket, am I wrong?

And as it for creativity.. I never say 2milordie, or 2milletmepass. Still not a single officer took bribe.

So, if we don't base RP on the text we can read in news, infocards and rumors, what do we base it on? Some idealistic concept?

Is the LPI corrupt? No. Are some of it's employees corrupt? Most likely. Are some of it's employees bastions of incorruptibility? Probably.

People need to accept the fact that "their" faction is not the shining light of justice, goodness and morality...

And now I need to go revive my Patriot...

That actually is due to the current RP storyline, which includes about 80% of the BPA acting constables (including all chief constables) being in exile.
Until our escape to Gran Can last week I patroled Edinburgh (which is my district) at least once a week, if not more often.

On topic: of course, it also depends on the character, or rather: both characters, whether or not a bribe is succesful. And, what the others said is important as well: if it won't be worth the risk for the officer, why should he even bother?

True policemen - MB52 - 07-02-2009

>.> Last time I hinted at a bribe, the trader/smuggler started screaming in system about how corrupt we are and how we cant do unlawful actions, and how he'll have me sanctioned, blah blah...

Pretty sure I fed him a supernova at that point... o.O

True enough. We aren't perfect, but we try to be good.

The point was that people think ALL of the LPI are corrupt. Not true.

It also dependent on WHAT you are carrying and WHERE you are going.

Software? pfftttt.

Cardamine? For that you will definitely get a snac in the face.

Artifacts? Them things are dangerous.

Also, how much are you carrying? If you have 4990 of pharmaceuticals, and 10 of cardi, how can my scanner differentiate?

True policemen - Derkylos - 07-02-2009

Well, you know, artifacts are pretty and all, maybe I could get a few to hang on my wall?...
