While I agree in principal (and my liner doesn't use them), changes from vanilla disprove your claims which were of course once true. From what I've gathered, lawfuls explore and get to most new systems the old fashioned way, by cruising across the distance of space (Would only take a matter of months or weeks, about the same speed as in Star Trek) then they set up Jumpgates if they want to get to there fast with permanent base. Oh, and as per the phase alinement thing not supported by game play, there are allot of things that exist inRP but not in gameplay, such as apprehending pilots that land on bases, escape pods, different crewmen running different functions on capitol ships, cloaks and so on, just because they aren't supported by gameplay doesn't mean they don't exist. Traders and Fair Play - Baltar - 07-12-2009 Eppy ... I agree ... both pirate and trader need to be able to make a living and they both need to be able to role play their characters. I am happy to say that I am one pirate that doesn't pirate every trader that passes me by. And so long as the trader is willing to role play with me I only pirate him once a night. If ... however ... the trader is one that runs silent or gives me the "kill me its cheaper" ... I'll likely gank him every time I encounter him. Not saying the trader has to pay me ... but he's gotta at least say something or interact with me in some form or fashion. Anyway ... don't throw all us pirates in the same mold and I won't throw all you traders in the same mold. Traders and Fair Play - n00bl3t - 07-12-2009 I remember in the last mod, where 3 million was pushing your luck. Now, five million is an average demand. (And you would want to hope they do not see your Zoner Guard ID lest they charge you more.) EDIT: And I still get crap from traders that don't wanna play along. But traders posting bounties for 50 mil doesn't help your case much. I mean ... if the trader can afford to pay a bounty hunter 50 mil ... he can certainly pay a pirate 5 mil. Traders and Fair Play - casero - 07-12-2009 have any of these traders payed the bounty? Traders and Fair Play - tansytansey - 07-12-2009 You know... you could just... not haul human cargo 100% of the time if you're finding yourself without a trade route. Since when do liners have to take human cargo? I know people bitched about it a lot recently, but as far as I'm aware Liners are still allowed to haul non-human cargo. Or did they change that? If you're concerened about roleplay, then do what I'd do if I ever flew a liner. Roleplay that your passengers are on deck, not in your cargo bay. Traders and Fair Play - Sasaki - 07-12-2009 Ok, so I'm still a bit of a n00b, but just a couple thoughts. I played on the USA server in the Liberty lawful before coming here, and I've traded quite a bit. Now I'm flying around in either a Chimaera or if I'm KSP I'm flying a Wyrm. I would love to help out the traders who get pirated in Kusari space, but flying a Wyrm against what is typically a heavily armored bomber or gunboat doesn't really work, and in fact recently only caused more trouble for the trader; I tried to assist a trader yesterday but the pirate just ignored me and destroyed the trader before attacking me. Maybe someone else has some recommendation about that, and I'm certainly not recommending having the police run around in cap ships. Ok, some people like them, that's fine, I like my Wyrm;)But my faction doesn't even allow me to fly a heavier ship yet, and in Kusari anyway, the lawfuls are expected to fly light fighters during any regular patrols. Anyway, just some random thoughts!:DFrom a relatively n00b's perspective it's quite difficult to scare pirates away. But hey, I'm not a great pilot, so maybe this is all nonsense;) Traders and Fair Play - Drake - 07-12-2009 Light fighters are pretty useless vs. gunboats, but are awesome vs. bombers. A couple Debs and a Cannonball, maybe some nuke mines, and you can put some serious hurt on them. Traders and Fair Play - Baltar - 07-12-2009 ' Wrote:have any of these traders payed the bounty? Pretty sure they have ... I've seen many bounties posted and then seen them closed with the originator declaring payment. Cargo bay would be replaced by staterooms for human passengers. And passengers wouldn't be much for a pirate to take on. But think about the passengers pooling their treasure together and giving it to the pirates (like train and stagecoach robberies of old).
