Five Commandments of the Order - Tenacity - 08-14-2009 Athenian, since the release of 4.85 and the decree by admins that factions can no longer restrict capship purchases, the number of capital ships (almost all indies, btw) in the order has more than tripled. In the time since I returned to the Order, I've seen more indy carriers than gunboats, destroyers, or osirises combined - the ship is meant to be rare, it isnt supposed to be the most common ship seen in order space, that's half the reason we told the corsairs they couldnt use it. Further, I've seen more capships than fighters and bombers combined flying under an Order tag since 4.85 released. I would say, conservatively, that 90% of them are lolwutters with zero idea how to RP a capship, and nearly all of them abuse the power the ship has whenever the enemy (keepers, navy, or bhg) shows up in fighters. I'm sorry, but you, and the rest of the admins, are wrong, and you were wrong from the time that you put out that decree preventing the restriction of ships. Indies may not like it, but capships need to be an earned right on this server, at least anything cruiser sized or above. If you can prove yourself a capable RP'er with enough self control to not shoot at everything that moves, then you should be given consideration for control of a cap, not before. The abuse is going to continue until the admins realize their mistake, and nothing can be done about it until then. Even if factions make every indie lolwutting capship kill on sight, nothing will change. Leading by example is another. If someone is acting like a nub, you'll hear about it and you can deal with in game pretty easily using the time-honoured "carrot or stick" approach. Ah, the dulcet tones of wisdom. Very refreshing. Having been in the BHG, I know that Athenian speaks tried and tested truth. There are no restrictions on what ship you can fly. But when you play the game with the rest of members, you begin to understand what works in a given situation and what does not. Sans excessive browbeating and pseudo-bureaucracy. If the carrot isn't appealing enough, then, and only then, do you break out the thumping stick. Does wonders for developing and nurturing respect for the faction leaders as well as for the rp of the faction. Leading by example is where it's at. Unless the leading figures in a faction are anal-retentive control-freaks who want every faction member to buy into their awe-inspiring vision of what passes for proper rp. @Tenacity: A very simple solution to lower the numbers of the Geb: take off that BS shield and put the cruiser shield back on. As it is now, it's the poor man's BS. Five Commandments of the Order - dead_shot - 08-14-2009 AMEN! Five Commandments of the Order - Tenacity - 08-15-2009 Quote:@Tenacity: A very simple solution to lower the numbers of the Geb: take off that BS shield and put the cruiser shield back on. As it is now, it's the poor man's BS It had a cruiser shield, less armor, and better turret arcs to begin with than it does now, and it was horrible against most other capships. It was buffed for good reason, and the problem isnt it's stats - it's the inability to restrict the numbers of what is supposed to be a rare ship. The Geb is the only battlecruiser with no class 10 turret slots, it's firing arcs are extremely limited, it is larger than an osiris battleship and has less armor. The only saving grace for the ship in combat is speed (thruster) and the fact that it has a battleship shield. I worked long and hard to get those buffs, I'm not going to let these indy idiots use that as an excuse. Five Commandments of the Order - reavengitair - 08-15-2009 Does this mean I should get rid of my carrier? Anyway. In my opinion, we need more nephs, people are using too many bastets. Of course, fighters are better than capships... Five Commandments of the Order - Thexare - 08-15-2009 ' Wrote:Sending them to 100 is just pushing it aside, not stopping it. I think the Order as a whole needs toCrew do not live in cargo holds. Please, Discovery, stop acting like we have to carry the Crew commodity. Some people simply don't like rebuying it every time they die. |
