Star Trek Online - Serpentis - 01-21-2010 Right, so ive been playing STO for the last week now (open beta) and I got some... Issues with it, now this close to "release".
Star Trek Online - rayne - 01-22-2010 Might give this a look at some point. Star Trek Online - Dusty Lens - 01-30-2010 I've been a fan of ST for some time. As a lad of tender years flipping on TNG to carry through the adventure of the day stood as a stark contrast to the nightmare of my day to day life of suffering under the heavy hand of my alcoholic drug abusing parents. Between each shriek torn from my shuddering frame as my mother lashed me mercilessly with an electric cord I would revel in the growth of Data and so on. When Worf suffered under the pain sticks of the KT'Losh ceremony I screamed in kind as my father, having lost yet another job to his drinking habits, extinguished his cigar on my unwilling forehead. Ah youth. Where was I? Oh yeah. So, there's this problem with Star Trek online. It's the same problem that I bet that a lot of people had going into Star Wars online. When I boot that mother up I'm gonna want to warp to the scene, I'm going to wanna shout shields up and I am going to be very disapoint when I findmyself chancing upon the U.S.S. (>^.^)(>O.o)> captained by Cmdr. Rick_ROLLOL. I'll ask if he needs a hand. He'll respond by saying /f/ I will then scream CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN and self destruct my vessel. I have seen these things are surely as the Guardian of Forever had laid them out before me. So, though I suffer a pain as keen as that inflicted by the dreadful Ceti eel I am going to abstain from firing up ST:O. I'm sure the gameplay will be pretty good, the graphics cool and other aspects extremely awesome... I just wont be able to move past the place where the game -I- want to play will never co-exist with the game -they- want to play. EvE online doesn't hold any such substance to me, nor Star Wars. I can fire those up and LOLOL with the best of them. But I'm reasonably certain that my enjoyment of playing Star Trek would be synonymous with my ability to capture an sliver of the sentiment that captivated my fascination when I was a kid. A memory which holds very few associations with the U.S.S. 8=====D captained by Cmdr Hard. One This is also the dorkiest thing I have ever written and I had to reference wikipedia no less than six times. Star Trek Online - tazuras - 01-30-2010 You spelled khan wrong. Star Trek Online - Dusty Lens - 01-30-2010 Star Trek Online - tazuras - 01-30-2010 *shakes his head* yeah, I dont do 4chan... But, from the beta it looked like most people had reasonable names. Who knows, maybe they'll open an RP section of the server, I would think that would be pretty easy actually considering STO is all instanced... Star Trek Online - Turkish - 01-30-2010 Dusty and Serpentis hit the nail on the head for me, I'm still going to play out my free month though. Does anyone feel like making a Disco Fleet? School obligations are the only thing keeping me from going YES. However... YES. Yes I do. |
