key word there is a list of the entire rules.....
i mean...there is no reason why we cant have them on the infocard...
the text box should hold, correct me if im wrong, something like 46 thousand lines.....

(its like a list box in Vbasic, right?)

How bout giving said gem a fairly high selling price in the outer systems, hiding where they can be sold for high value in the rules, and saying that's how the gem works on the various log-in screens. Would give beginners a tangible incentive to a) read the thing and b) hold on to it for a couple days. New players who played for a couple days and didn't read the gem would probably find out pretty quickly that they missed out and could whip up another character to give them a second chance at it. Or a third. Or a fourth.

Now your talking about character mining which is.... (drum roll please) Against the rules.

New People - Quigs - 09-01-2007

I hear ya, but if it's not a rediculous amount then it won't compete with trading or selling ejected pirates. I'd like to think people would rather play freelancer than spend hours making and deleting characters. Heck... put it in those rules they're busy reading that they're not allowed to carry more than one gem:)

How about having the rules pop up when you sell the Gem? Format it like a software licence agreement which you have to scroll to the bottom to click accept.
This could be added to bats and bots too so we all get to do it (only once obviously)

That way everyone will have said they accept the rules whether they abide by them or not, then when they are caught breaking em.......

It would be tedious to read all the way through when you just want to play but you only have to do it once.

I think I will be buying a set soon and printing em so I have em to hand, I wonder if Tony will pay me for all that paper?

Quote:Lets just say me and Mr.3ppozz ran into them in our xenos fighters.(we kepted killing them as they kept reneging must of got about 10 kills of all 3 of them)

Mr.3ppozz got 6 SS i think he said.

Billy

heheheh yes we did kill them more then enough, but they still didnt know that they werent allowed to re-engage, we told them 10 times not to keep attacking without a good reason.
Only response they gave was "I am under attack by Xenos Fighter, all available personel launch and attack" and so they did.... only it were 3 guys attacking over and over and over and over.....

Read the rules... you can attack us a second time, but not within a minute...

' Wrote:Well, Caylith brought up the idea that you should have a set of rules placed in your cargo hold when you make a new character. Like how the Discovery gem is put there every time you make a new character. Thats one way to get them read.

Back that idea full force

The biggest problem with that is the fact that it would require changes to the core of the program. Such a feature just isn't present in Freelancer.

On the other hand, perhaps adding the rules to the Freelancer ID would be a good option. That way, new characters would have the list of rules in a convenient, hard to lose place, and the only thing that would require editing would be the FLID's infocard.

New People - uspatriotsf - 09-03-2007

I think that is a great idea Knucklehead. That way it is something you cant sell until you have money to buy another id. This requires some time for new players.

New People - Dopamino - 09-03-2007

i wish we could get mountable rules, but igiss has already said that he's not going to add anymore mountable items because he'd have to change every ship.
