New Coalition Shipline - Doom - 06-06-2010 i didnt like these first time i saw them and i still dont like them but that is matter of taste...textures could be much better and models could use some cleaning..... in replacing old ship line these ships will do...but just that... New Coalition Shipline - tansytansey - 06-06-2010 ' Wrote:@Ashes mostly: My comments were directed at the ones who weren't exactly posting their impressions on the models, they were saying "Coalition doesn't need new ships, the current ones are fine" etc Critiquing models is very different from saying "do not want" when you won't even be the ones flying the ships. New Coalition Shipline - n1kodemus - 06-06-2010 I have to agree with the rest, that they're a bit too colourful and the current Coalition ships look better. Here is a summary of my opinion, I tried to include as much constructive critisism as I could. (Not trying to insult anybody). Texturing: The hammer logos and stripes look rather ridiculous in my opinion. Why bother with fancy logos and stripes, if the ship otherwise looks like it's made out of spit and twigs? They do not enhance the ships abilities in any way, and in the middle of combat you wouldn't really pay attention to them anyways. (Or even see the logos that is). Making their tools of war visually pleasing fights their nature in my opinion. For example this is something Kusari would do, not Coalition. If you catch my drift.. Otherwise the textures look good. The cockpits especially. Models: The models are decent. I like their shape, though they could use a bit cleaning. (The top mostly, looks horrid). In my opinion the light fighter is the best of them, rest two look rather messy. I don't like the fins. After all it's space, where would you need those? Not only do I find them unnecessary, but unfitting as well. And like I explained earlier, adding them just for visual is not something Coalition would do. Also I don't like the green/yellow/black engine things neither or what ever they are. What's the purpose of those may I ask? Conclusion: Messy models with partly unfitting texturing. I would give these ships a score of 6 out of 10 points. New Coalition Shipline - Serpentis - 06-06-2010 Just.. Stating my thoughts here. The ones that have tested the ship in the game, says it's gorgeous compared to the Renders. I have yet to test them, but I am considering making a small video, I'm missing some files that would make it possible, or I'd get to work. For now, those that say the models look back need to take the word of the SCRA players. Doom expresses my concerns perfectly. i do -not- like the texture job done, not because of the textures used, but the general quality of it. but considering what i saw before its a bit of an improvement, but imo still has a long way to go. but oh well, the SCRA are fine with it, and its a replacement, fine. also, next time models that are made need to follow the same "build" specs as other ships/vanilla ships, please keep that in mind. freelancer, whilst doesnt mind using ship specific textures, uses 100% symmetrical textures that can be reused repeatedly per ship, etc, etc *repeat same point explained 1000 times before here* New Coalition Shipline - Dennis Jameson - 06-06-2010 My only concern is that if these ships end up to be small, hard to hit and agile messes then the guns need to be adjusted. Why? Because the guns are awesome while the ships used to be... less effective, that's the balancing factor. My two pence. New Coalition Shipline - horvat - 06-06-2010 Yes indeed, Disco community has a right to their opinion, we will accept any critic if its constructive. The renders that were used for presenting are a lot uglier then the ships itself in the game. This is a screen shot of our fighter in its early stages. It has gone through minor modifications until then but in general that's how they look in the game even better in space. New Coalition Shipline - Slartibartfast - 06-06-2010 Well, it's... Interesting. I actually quite like its shape on the pictures Serp and Funky provided... But I have to echo Jameson's question; will the weapons be re-balanced as well? We're always hearing that each (factionised) weapon is balanced according to the ship the faction flies... So I recon they must be? New Coalition Shipline - Shagohad - 06-06-2010 Kalashnikovs are already energy-hungry as it is. The Insurgent has a ridiculous power plant because, frankly, it's a beast. The thing was built like a bad tank. Instead of re-balancing the weapons, I imagine our power plants will be reduced. New Coalition Shipline - Dennis Jameson - 06-06-2010 Your concept of balance is slightly warped. That's all I can say without being rude, as is my trademark. Elaboration: This game is all about short bursts of damage when passing your enemies. It doesn't matter that your guns drain much energy so long as you hit the target, and with the really SILLY amount of damage those damned guns do it's bordering, and crossing the line of overpowered stuff by a massive leap. |
